About Zharastran, a geodesic odyssey by Michael Yorga

“Zharastran” is a story written as a response to a climate riddled by religious wars and political tensions. Due to insufficient acrylic oils or ink and also the rising cost of painting supplies, I wrote this tale instead.
The action of the story takes place on Strandland, a fantasy planet that I built as a retirement community for the souls lost in space; Souls without a biological host. It serves as a dual purpose domain: one for the stage of my story and my latter intent was inspired by the abandoned stadiums after a city hosts the Olympics. I decided that a perfectly imagined planet would go to waste if I don’t utilize it.
I set the story in prose that rhymes to contradict and prove, by logic, that rhymes are heuristic creative output, and not divine messages.
Zharastran, the hero of the story, is built as a character that would emulate a son of an intergalactic God, set in a very distant part of our Universe.
The Farmer is a character that is built to emulate Zharastran’s Father.
The story includes an imagined scenario where the son will sacrifice himself before the father would step in to offer himself instead.

A slave and his master were about to embark on a journey and the slave pleaded with his master not to tell their host he was a slave. His master agreed with a warning that he should not act like one. They both agreed and set out on the journey.
When they got there, their host welcomed them with utmost respect because the man was a very rich and an influential figure. They treated the slave with equal respect because they thought he was a friend or business partner to his master. The way he dressed convinced them even more.
Everything went on fine until the next day when his master went out. First, he start to sing meaningless songs, dancing and clapping and disturbing the peace of the house. After smoking marijuana, he pulled off the shirt he wore not minding it was winter, went straight to their host’s garden and began to cut down some over grown flowers, feeling that he was in his master’s house.
When they saw the way he behaved, they concluded that he would be the right person to wash all the dirty dishes in the house. They ordered him to the kitchen at once. He grinned and start to do, what he knew how to do best.
When his master returned and saw him in the kitchen watching dirty dishes, he asked him, “was I the one who called you a slave?” Before they embarked on that journey, the slave forgot one thing. He forgot that wherever a man goes to dwell his character goes with him. He wore his best clothes to the place, but forgot that his attitude was naked. He was so dumb to come to the realization that it was not the chains on him that made him a slave but his attitude towards life.
As they set out on the journey, his master kept to his promise by setting him free. Despite this, he was still in chains. No wonder the great boxing legend Muhammad Ali said, “It isn’t the mountain ahead to climb that wear you out, it is the pebble in your shoes.”

I’m CJ Damage author of Jess’ Tales Vol 1 and 2. I am currently a full time psychology student (mature) and part time writer of novels for young adults in the fiction/fantasy genre. I particularly like to write stories with a heavy background in Irish mythology. I am married (barely!) with three young children. The inspiration for the two novels came in the form of a character who lives nearby who has been described in the newspaper as ‘Ireland’s Worst Neighbour.’ When drunk (which is every day (unless he has a court appointment!)) he loves to stand at the edge of his perfectly manicured garden and shout obscenities and profanities at my home and family. He had over 50 convictions for drunk and disorderly conduct, has served multiple short prison terms and has even put in a bomb scare to our local police station (for which he received a suspended sentence!!!). His one and only prison term of more than a few days resulted when he threatened to shoot me in front of the police who had come to arrest him for drunk driving. We were lucky to have this gentleman welcome us to a new estate when we moved a number of years ago and he has remained our beloved neighbour ever since, never missing an opportunity to greet us morning noon or night (usually in the form of a threat or just general abuse!). I told him that he had been the inspiration behind a character in a story I had written and he responded by graciously dumping his two week stash of empty beer cans in my garden! When my novels become No.1. Amazon sellers I am going to go over and have a can or two with him in his front garden while listening to his anecdotes about how my children make him sick and how my wife is a b!£(h! Kevin in the meantime becomes a journalist and is sent on an assignment to interview a guru who has set up a commune in Wales and finds he is a person from his past and meets some other people also from his past. The hotel Kevin stays in is unbeknown to him owned by his childhood dream girl the girl he never had the nerve to tell her she was his dream girl. She also never had the nerve to tell him her feelings towards him, they get together and have a lot of catching up to do. Kevin also helps in a strange way his childhood friend Willy, who has become an alcoholic after the death of his sister Paul is released from Changi and is in some hospital in Singapore and Kevin gets him released with the help of a General Woody Armstrong from the government department who he writes to so he can attend Lucy and Danny’s wedding as a surprise Paul has a problem coping with being alive when so many of his comrades have died in the prison he falls deeper into grief and turns to drink Kevin has to help him cope and he then becomes the older brother. General Armstrong, who helped Kevin to get Paul home asks a favour of Kevin and he has to go on a trip to Korea to identify someone caught for spying who they believe to be Kevin’s father who had been killed in the Second World War. Kevin returns home to find Paul is still drinking and tells him he has to go into rehab to his disgust but agrees he needs help. Their mother returns from America and tells Kevin that Danny father has asked her to marry him. They all embark on a trip to America for the mothers wedding where Paul meets a stranger from his past, Kevin gets a phone call that his loved one has been in an accident and is in a coma, frantic to get back to England he is helped along by Dannie’s father whom he has no idea is in the secret service. Then they all return for Kevin’s wedding he receives a phone call on his wedding day from someone he never expected and what he has to say makes him very suspicious. There are many twists to the story and a lot of surprises for all the family.

Prior to that Dexter was a respected talented Florida high school and University of South Florida Bulls college basketball player with dreams of playing professional basketball player either here or abroad. In 1997 he received a life plus 10 year prison sentence in the state of Georgia for bad decisions and was released in February 2012. Since then he has been a successful truck driver and a regular on his former school Advanced Technology Institute (ATI) two television commercials/infomercial seen by millions of people in the state of Virginia where he resides with his wife Raphaela Ray. Mrs. Ray a native of Virginia, is a former high school and Virginia State University track and cross country athlete.
