To prepare for this book, Andrew flew in a Stearman biplane during a presentation of the Chicago Air show. James’ parents contact the Camp Kilmer Director and arrange for Gizi to visit their home so James and Gizi can concentrate and complete their science project. That evening Gizi explains how she survived the 1956 Hungarian Revolt, how she saw her father murdered by the AVO, how they dragged her mother away and how the Pastor of her Reform Church hid her from the Soviets in the church coal bin. This is why she adopted the name ‘Gizi’, which means ‘Pledge’ in Hungarian. She inspires James and helps him realize that he can never combat Piggy at Piggy’s own game with fists; James must find a different way. James does, but it costs him his Confirmation.

Dissolving your apartment, terminating your job, leaving everything behind you and simply traveling the world – how does this sound? I dared to do it! In September of 2015, I packed my backpack and began a journey into the unknown. I started only with a one-way ticket to Uganda and with a proper portion of optimism. I had not the slightest idea what would await me in Africa, how my route would look like, or how long it would take me. It was my first real backpacking trip, my first time in the depths of Africa, and my first journey on which I was completely on my own. These were the best prerequisites for the adventure of my life.
I mostly went off the worn-out tourist paths and was always on the lookout for new adventures.
After all, this journey was not only an adventure for me, but also a small self-discovery trip. I have learned a lot about myself and fundamentally changed some of the ways I see the world.

Michaela Gruber was born in 1988 in a small town in the Alps of Austria. After completing her education, she worked as a nurse in a hospital for seven years. She was passionate about her job, but somewhere in her slumbered the desire for more.

Driven by the curiosity for the big wide world and the desire for adventure, at the end of September 2015, she then embarked on her big open-end world journey. She quit her job, dissolved her apartment, and sold her car. Only equipped with her backpack, she flew on her own into the heart of Africa – to Uganda. She traveled from Uganda to South Africa over six months. She literally lost her heart to Africa. Never before had she experienced so much joie de vivre and hospitality as there.

I’m Rebecca Zettl, an independently published Australian author. I write across multiple genres, following a common thread of fascination for the best, worst and strangest of human nature. At the moment all of my published works are in the crime and mystery genres, but I’m planning to branch out into science fiction, fantasy and comedy in the future.

I’ve loved to read for as long as I can remember, and devour titles from a range of genres including crime fiction, sci-fi, action adventure, fantasy and narrative non-fiction. Terry Pratchett, Matthew Reily, Camilla Lackberg and RD Wingfield are a few of my favourite authors. If you haven’t read their work, I highly recommend you check them out.

I wrote fiction for fun as a kid, but it took me a long time to consider actually publishing my work. Instead, after high school, I followed my love of science to study engineering. Now I work fixing what breaks at a manufacturing plant in Greater Brisbane, where I live with my husband.

I run on coffee. Coffee goes in, fiction comes out. That’s how it works. I also love dogs, thunderstorms and the sound of rain on the roof.
