I was born in Malta in 1994, and am a graduate in Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy. In 2011, after coming out, I had experienced depression which lasted two years. This period was heavily influential as it pushed me towards writing raw and emotional poetry, and I found that to be quite therapeutic. Gladly, I have managed to overcome depression, and the lessons I have learnt – in life and in poetry – have remained with me.

In January 2017, I published my first poetry collection, a book called The A to Z of You and Me. The book is based upon my personal experience of my long-distance relationship, containing both elements of romance and passion as well as feelings of isolation and neglect. This collection was originally designed to be a loving gift to my boyfriend. However, after I had printed and we had both read it, I decided to publish it as a book. In Siberia he meets the woman who would become his wife, also a refugee from Poland. They get married, and he was drafted into the Red army. Russia was attacked by Hitler, and Stalin responds. After several years in Siberia, he manages to bring his wife and her parents to Uzbekistan where their first son was born. The Russian army invades Poland, and David finds himself back in his country, as an officer. He reaches his hometown Warsaw and finds the town in ruins, he succeeds to find his aunt Eugenia, but he discovers that his whole family has been murdered. He also discovers that Poland did not really wants him back. He advanced with the Russian army into the depths of Poland, fought the Germans retreating till his arrival in Berlin. But his war has only just begun, he settles in the city of Stettin and brings his family from Uzbekistan, they discover another Poland, an even more anti-Semitic Poland. His wife and his family leave for Israel; he is the only one left, works in a hospital and falls in love with a Polish girl. He sees the masses, demonstrating in the streets, screaming ‘Jews, go to Palestine, we do not want you to here’ and the reality has changed, it’s not the Poland he loved, where he and his parents and grandparents were born. Their blood soaks the soil and the air is full of hatred. He decides to leave and follow his family. This is the true story of Dr. David Nachimson, written by his son Uri, a few years after his father’s death.

Author Bio:
Uri J. Nachimson was born in Szczecin, Poland in 1947 and two years later his parents emigrated to Israel. As a young boy he loved to write, photograph and paint, and in 1966 he was drafted into the Israeli army where he served as a war photographer in the Northern Command. He participated in the six days war as a photographer and his photographs were displayed at an exhibit for IDF units.
His travels and adventures around the world are recorded in the various books he has written that are as of now are published. As an adventurer from birth, he wandered around in Prague as crowds demonstrated in front of Soviet tanks. His travels to Egypt are the inspiration for his book Seeds of Love.
When in 1990 he went back to Poland to seek his roots, he was deeply affected by the attitude of the Poles towards the Jews both during and after World War II, and decided to research the history of the Jews of Poland during that era. Thus the trilogy was born; Lilly’s Album, The Polish Patriot and Identity. The book The Polish Patriot, was translated and published in Italian and Polish. It featured this year at the International Book Fair in Turin, Italy.
Uri’s grandmother, Ida Friedberg, was the granddaughter of the Jewish writer A.S. Friedberg, editor of the Polish Jewish newspaper Hazefira, as well as the author of many books. As a teenager, Uri was greatly influenced by A.S. Friedberg’s writings where the author describes his imaginary journeys to different countries. Uri decided to experience for himself the adventures to be able to tell them in his books.
Ten years ago, Uri decided to move to Tuscany in Italy where he lives with his wife. He has two sons, a daughter and is the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren. While in Cortona he wrote Two Margheritas and Broken Hearts in Boulevard Unirii which was recently translated into Italian.
As long as I was busy with raising the children and supporting my family, I could not do serious writing, however, since I settled in Cortona, I have dedicated a lot of time to creative writing and the words just flow by themselves.
