Many of you have known me as a business owner, Personal & Business Development Coach, Social Media Publicist and radio DJ over the past 45+ years. Although I’m going kicking and screaming into retirement, I guess I have to accept it. Not that I really want to mind you, but circumstances dictate that I do.
Back in 1992, I was living in Lake Tahoe with my family having left L.A. 2 years earlier and was doing some consulting at the time. I was laying in bed one night when I heard in the woods across from where we lived, the sound of coyotes howling. I thought it was so cool but more importantly, it seemed to open a floodgate of story ideas and so I sat down and over the next twelve months cranked out two novels and accompanying screenplays. I literally couldn’t stop the storylines from coming and I had to write down brief synopsis for all the future stories I would write. I didn’t do anything with them at the time as “Life” has a tendency to go on while we’re busy making other plans. Fortunately, I had already gotten some very credible validation for my works and it inspired me to say to myself, “I’ll get back to this soon”
Raising children, remodeling our new home, taking care of parents who we moved in with us, working in radio, moving to Las Vegas, opening a new business, selling that business, moving back up to the Tahoe area, starting yet two more businesses and working in radio again took me all the way to 2013 when we moved back to Las Vegas once again. Quiroz-Vega offers a dark creation tale, a prologue of sorts to Adam and Eve. It’s a compelling narrative that provides background on several well-known, supernatural figures. Though obviously religious in nature, Quiroz-Vega’s book strays far from traditional biblical text. Sea monsters, mermaids, and vampires share the stage with angels and demons. And illicit (and explicit) affairs, violent battles, and graphic injuries abound. Quiroz-Vega’s prose is incredibly descriptive. The fallen angels, including a transformed Beelzebub, whose “arms and legs appeared gelatinous, punctuated by lumps of broken and calcified bone,” are painted with horrifying clarity.

I have been a reader for as long as I can remember. I smile at the picture my mind’s eye paints: a skinny kid dragging a hardback copy of ‘Anna Karenina’ to the beach. Yes, that was a beach read.
I was into the classics as a kid. It may sound painstakingly boring, but I wanted to learn from the best the world had to offer. It was a rich education – Hemingway, Faulkner, Steinbeck, and scores of others.
I went to an estate sale as a teenager. There in the corner of that musty old house was an old gunmetal manual typewriter. It stood on a little table with wheels and 2 spring-levered leaves that folded in or out. I was lucky enough to get it.
I still have that old thing, though I never use it. I keep it for what it symbolizes. In the age of touch pads and such, it’s nice to see the old mechanical type hammers lined up in their neat row, each with their slug of metal type on the end.
Like I said, it’s nice to look at.

About Lost In Space

Nathaniel Roberts and his fleet of ships made it through the wormhole, most of them anyways. They are without power and children are coming. Persephone believes babies magically appear in the arms of goddesses when it is time. No one, even her mother can convince her otherwise. Can it be true?

I got hooked on reading early in life, reading nearly everything I could get my hands on including the Encyclopedia Britannica. As well as being an avid reader I enjoyed bicycling, skateboarding, fishing, and building models and puzzles. As far back as I can remember, I loved anything to do with aircraft. I joined the USAF as an aircraft mechanic working on the F-4, T-38, F-117. and the F-16. A knee injury stopped me from working on aircraft. My knee couldn’t support me on the odd angles and slick surfaces. While in the USAF I attended college. My second love was tormenting my English teacher. I found out she had a fear of death, then she was at my mercy. Anything she said not to do I did just to show her I could. Every essay or theme I wrote dealt with the topic of death, from the first-person perspective of a person undergoing an autopsy, being buried alive, and rising from the grave. She was glad when I graduated. Some authors who inspired me are Robert Heinlein, Harry Harrison, Alan Dean Foster, Piers Anthony, and much more.
