I write both non-fiction (The Average(ish) Man’s Guide to Dating Above Average Women) and fiction (poetry – the Quicksilver Quatrains series).

With respect to non-fiction – what you are here for – my aim is to produce well-written, clear, useful, practical, engaging and entertaining books (whew – that’s a bit of a mouthful). On this note, The Average(ish) Man’s Guide to Dating Above Average Women is my first venture into the world of non-fiction. I hope that it has all of these attributes.

I am also close to completing another book in the exercise/fitness sphere (a passion of mine), although that is parked for the moment.

I have a genuine passion for writing. Writing and being an author is something that I have wanted to do for some time, but only relatively recently found the time and impetus to do to completion.

First depicted in the novel Lost Horizon (Hilton, 1933), the concept for Shangri-La was inspired by the legends of Shambhala that are so prevalent in the ancient wisdom traditions of cultures throughout the Himalayan regions of Asia and beyond. The Zhang Zhung and Tibetan scriptures refer to the hidden sanctuary as Shambhala I lam-yig, B’on treaties as Olmolungring, Hindu histories as Aryavarth, Chinese as Hsi Tien, and Russian traditions as Belovoyde. In the Western world, it has of course become best known as Shambhala, Shamballa, or Shangri-La.
In an esoteric treatise composed in the early 1500s by Ensapa Lobsang Döndrup, the Third Panchen Lama describes his extraordinary visit to a land of wise masters hidden in the Himalayas. A rare manuscript written in 1592 by Antonio Monserrate, a Spanish missionary to the court of the Mughal emperor Akbar, speaks of his experiences in a remote valley in the high mountains where great sages reside. A remarkably similar account is found as recently as the late 1700s, written by the esteemed Sixth Panchen Lama, Lobsang Palden Yeshe.
On an extended trek in a closed and largely unexplored inner region of the majestic Himalayan wilderness, in an isolated valley surrounded by vast snow fields and towering ice peaks, explorer M.G. Hawking chanced on a beautiful small village where he encountered remarkable men and women, introduced to him as “masters” and “adepts.”
Our team at Wisdom Masters Press has worked diligently to compose a series of books based on Hawking’s records of his five years in a remote region of the Himalayas and the highlands of Tibet. The best time to start teaching your baby to read is between the ages of 3 months and 3 years old. The younger a child is, the more quickly they can learn to read. We recommend starting at 3 months old because the child’s visual pathway is developed by that time. Now they can focus clearly on the words being presented. Children that are 4 years old may still learn to read using this method, but they will not learn as quickly as the younger child.
