Tam May was born in Israel but grew up in America. She earned her college degree in English before returning to the States. She also has a Master’s degree in English and worked as an English college instructor and EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher before she became a full-time writer. She started writing when she was 14 and writing became her voice. She is also working on another book titled House of Masks about a woman who, mourning the death of her father, breaks free of isolation and loneliness when she is drawn into the lives of her two neighbors, one eccentric and one embittered. Growing up on a farm in the Philippines was a hard life with many daily chores that seemed endless. We never had modern tools such as tractors, rototillers. Our tractor was a carabao, also known as a “water buffalo”. These animals were the life force that was used to plow the fields, remove stumps, pull wagons, and any other chores that required brute strength.
My love of growing plants all began here. We grew the usual farm crops such as beans, corn, rice and tobacco. Planting and harvesting would include our entire large family working together. Most of our harvest was to feed our immediate family, but my father was a very generous man and would give a lot of our food to families that had nothing to eat.
I later decided that I wanted to develop a greater understanding for generating a farm that would produce more food and more modern farming techniques. It was my destiny to study agriculture not knowing that my future living abroad in the United States would return me back to my roots. Today, we have so many methods of farming, from hydroponics, aquaponics and other various techniques to grow food using little or no soil is amazing to say the least. I hope that this eBook will share many of our ideas that we created and borrowed from others will give you great success. I believe that our survival in the future with government regulations, GMO’s, pesticides will only create more demand for growing your own food.
