I love my husband very much, and before my daughter was born, he used to be the most important person in my life, but now there’re two of them. Of course I had some books about pregnancy and children, when I was at home and haven’t gone to America yet, but they were dull medical directory or just didn’t have answers for my questions. I badly needed a book – a friend who can give me some smart and kind advice – a book in which I could read about experience of a mother like me, but who has already raised her children.
It’s funny that when the baby is born, you think you’ll remember it for the whole life. You think you won’t forget how to express milk, how to cook puree or when to give dill water. Time passes by, your child now eats the same food as you, and there is no need to do a belly massage or pass vegetables and meat through a sieve. And I was sure that I knew everything well. No doubt! I’ve been through this! However, when another baby is born, it goes from the start, so I decided to write everything down.
I started writing in a notebook, then I started another one and in the end, I had a book shelf full of my notebooks. I tried to cook some meals from baby food recipe books and I found out that they were dull and tasteless, and my children didn’t want to eat them.
So, I started improvising with the recipes I know, making them easier, cheaper and tastier. Suddenly many of my friends became mothers and I knew I had something to share, so here we are!

I began my writing career as far back as 1969, when I won an inter-schools’ writing competition after submitting a well-thumbed and hastily scribbled essay entitled ‘My Pet’.
