I’m an English author, born in London and brought up under the sound of Jumbo jets near Heathrow. I now live on the Surrey/Hampshire border on the edge of Jane Austen country where I spend any free time indulging in my passion for photography. I enjoy photographing wildlife and the local landscape, and share my images on social media so that readers can get a feel for the locations around Farnham that I use in my novels.
I’ve had numerous non-fiction articles published, and won awards for short fiction and poetry, including a first prize awarded in a competition judged by noted mystery writer P D James. I first discovered the idea of Peer Mentoring when I began using it for myself. I met another woman consultant who had many of the skills, experiences, and contacts that I lacked. I had some of the resources and talents she needed. We formed a contract with each other in which we made very clear statements of our separate goals, and then we made clear written commitments to support each other in achieving those goals. Some of this support came from teaching each other the skills the other needed, sharing our contacts, educating each other in areas where we needed more information, and, most importantly, just knowing that we each had a buddy rooting for us. We called it a “loving kick in the can’ts”.
Our mutual support system was so effective that we found that we had each achieved our one-year goals after only a few months. During this period, we met once a week, reviewed our short-term and long-term goals, discussed how effectively we were spending our time, and took turns instructing each other on subjects in which one of us wanted more knowledge. We were so amazed by our success that we decided to teach this process to others. Now, thousands of people all over the country have learned the process and are actively forming Peer-Mentor pairs to help each other to be more successful.
Peer Mentoring is a process through which people identify their own resources and those of others and then create specific strategies for mutual goal achievement. It is a new adaptation of the age-old concept of reciprocity practiced by all cultures. Usual reciprocal practices are implicit, whereas the Peer-Mentor contract makes the agreements explicit. The participants barter resources (skills, contacts, technical expertise, advice, counseling, criticism, etc.) with each other as needed. That idea alone sets it apart from the plethora of ‘How To Succeed’ theories. This model encourages the development and organization of one’s readily available resources – personal, business, and social – and is based on mutual support. It is different from the “I can do it myself through gritted teeth” attitude, which I believe most people find extremely difficult in practice. The Peer-Mentoring technique challenges the myth that isolation is a necessary companion of success.

The Frenchmen do make it to Idyllia even though their armed boat sank. They are mistaken to be Ocean Gods of the ‘Loki” by the Kavi tribals and are given a god’s welcome which includes a heavenly bride in the form of the most beautiful girl in the tribe, namely Elisaba. The Frenchmen do manage to find the gold but they are waylaid by Megaloman forces who have sinister plans for Idyllia. They are sent to the CONCA facility for becoming Guinea Pigs in Biological and Chemical Warfare experiments.
There they meet the toppled Idyllian President, Riccorro Sthabe, who was sent to the CONCA to be executed by infection by biological agents. I guess I’ve always been a storyteller, not in a ‘liar liar pants on fire’ kind of way, although I do work in advertising! When I was little, kids would crowd around me in the playground and I’d tell them tales of blood soaked horror filled with vampires, werewolves, ghosts and more. Yes, most would consider me a disturbed child, but my playmates couldn’t help themselves, they’d huddle around me every break time like an ancient tribe feeding off the fear; and that’s how I learned that horror stories hold a certain power, no matter what some might say, everyone is addicted to a good scare, especially if it is somewhat rooted safely in unrealistic beings… or are they unrealistic?
Writing was really a natural progression for me. So far I’ve had 35 short stories included in anthologies produced by publishers all over the world; my latest was included in Little Brown Book Group’s Mammoth Book of Jack the Ripper Stories. I have two YA series with the publishers, Evernight Teen: Battle of the Undead and The Twisted and The Brave.
I run a local adult writers’ group called Creative Minds Writing and have been asked by my local library (Corby, Northants, UK) to run a group for budding authors aged 13-25.
