I grew up in New England and have always enjoyed making up stories. When I was a kid, crayons fought other crayons in bloody battles for prime placement in the box. Street lamps cried when they lost their bulbs. My imaginary friend, Bee-Bee followed me everywhere. She caused an awful lot of trouble, as I remember.

“Hmmm.” She closed her eyes as all the friction from the day slid away from her. “So, what are you doing out here?”
He shrugged. “I can only take being on my best behavior so long, and then I start to spontaneously-combust.”
“I hear you there. If I have to take one more picture, I might just break that guy’s camera.”
“Yeah, and this monkey-suit is about as comfortable as a grass sack.”
“Here.” She turned to him and loosened the bowtie at his neck. “No reason to be so formal out here.”
He smiled at her as she resumed her place against the car.
“Okay, so you know my story, what’s yours?” he asked off-handedly as he tipped the bottle up and took another drink.
Without asking, she reached for the bottle in his hand, tipped it up, and took a long swallow—enjoying how the liquid burned all the way down her throat and into her stomach.
“Perfection is highly overrated,” she finally said, dropping the bottle but not returning it to his hand. “Being reminded that I’m not tends to make me a little squirrelly.”
His forehead knotted. “Harmony?”

Q – So, what makes the Diana Hunter series special?
A – When I set out to write these books, I wanted to create something that mirrored exactly the kind of books I like to read. My top picks are always mystery novels, especially featuring female protagonists with attitude. Diana is badass and I can’t tell you how many readers tell me she reminds them of themselves. She makes you feel you can do anything!
The Diana Hunter books are a great mix of genres. There is nothing graphic or gratuitous in these books. Your Aunt Martha could definitely read them. But they are not “roses around the cottage door” –type mysteries. They are more hard-boiled with some romantic tension, suspense and thriller action to keep things interesting!
Overall, the Diana Hunter series is designed to keep you turning the pages – and I’ve made sure there’s never a dull moment.
Q – In what order should I read the books?
A – The Diana Hunter mysteries can be read and enjoyed in any order, however, Hunted is a prequel to the other books in the series. Unlike the other books, it is not a complete mystery. It relates the events that create the backdrop to the series and fills in some of Diana’s personality and motivations. You don’t have to have read the prequel to make sense of the later books but it helps.
I’ve made sure not to include any spoilers for those who are new to the characters and any existing fans of Diana’s adventures will still find plenty of fresh action and mystery as well as perhaps a few answers. All in all, there is something for everyone. The events in this prequel take place a few years before Snatched, the first book in the Diana Hunter series of mysteries.
If you do want to read them in order, I’d suggest the following sequence:
– Hunted (prequel)
– Snatched
– Stolen
– Chopped
Q – So, why should readers give these books a try?
A – Because the Diana Hunter series is a fast, fun, thrill-ride that takes no prisoners! Our heroine is kicks butt but has a soft center. We want her to win out even when she’s making poor decisions and alienating those who can, and want, to help her. I think most women will see a little, or a lot, of themselves in Diana Hunter.
Ultimately, readers who enjoy lightning-fast pacing with a plot that twists and turns all the way to the end will get a kick out of this series.

Chapter 1
Born Dead
I was born dead. In the dead of winter. Still as a stone. Blue as the smoky haze that sometimes settles on the Ozark Mountains. I know because my mother, Helen Love, my father Ray Love and Aunt Maude told me so. I can only imagine the scene: Doc Barnes, a tall rugged-looking man with bushy white hair, worked frantically when he realized there was trouble. His white shirt covered in blood and the flickering light of a kerosene lamp added ghost-like dimension to the scene. Cold enough to see your breath, the only source of heat came from a cast iron wood-burning stove in the living room. I was saved because Doc carried me outside and rolled me in snow that covered the ground from a midwinter storm. The cold caused me to take a breath and I began to cry.
I’m pretty sure starting life dead has had an effect on me. Often, I feel or see or think about something and it stalks me. It might be a word, a name, an animal, a place… This syndrome has been my companion since I was a kid.
Here’s an example: “The first time I can remember something being different I was five years old. Before trouble raised its ugly head I had a feeling something bad was going to happen. I actually got a lump in my throat. Within minutes, a mean old Billy goat jumped the fence without me being aware, rammed into my backside, and knocked me down. I was covered in mud, but was not badly hurt. The experience set the stage for many premonitions and intuitions to come.
Up until now I’ve only talked to a few people about my frequent recalls. When I have, they said stuff like, “Hell, things like that happen to lots of people” so I quit saying anything about my mind being out of kilter. But I often felt a sense of knowing something was going to happen when I felt a lump in my throat.
That’s the end of me talking about this for now we’ve got other important stuff to investigate.

Jesus, Why and How? Heaven-Sin-Forgiveness-Punishment has three main sections although they are not split up into separate parts. Here’s an overview.
Part I
In the first, we’ll begin exploring life, death, and existence. We normally center our thinking around the first two terms–if something is alive, it is not dead, and if something is dead it cannot be alive. But the Bible uses these words–life and death– as adjectives to describe the condition of something that “exists”. That something is us, and we come to the horrifying conclusion that our “existence” is not synonymous with our lives on earth, and we may continue “existing” with or without life. From here, we’ll go on to discuss the Biblical and scientific basis for eternal life. We’ll finally define what life really is, and I’ll present the one condition it needs to flourish. That condition is something you may or may not have now, even though, for all practical purposes, we all appear to “live” now.
Part II
Here is where we’ll begin to explore the Biblical definition of sin. This is a word that no one I’ve met in the Church can adequately define. It’s a word all of us have used at one time or another without really understanding what it means. We typically use it to describe a particular behavior such as: stealing, murder, homosexuality, lying, etc. We use this word to describe anything that does not match the Bible’s code of personal conduct that’s outlined in many places including the Ten Commandments. But as we’ll discover, this definition of sin we have all come to accept as fact does not hold up against even simple scrutiny.The Bible presents a solution for sin, but given that none of us even know what the word means, how can we possibly understand the solution? This is a classic “horse before the carriage problem”. In my book, I offer you a different definition of sin, one that’s not based on rules and codes of conduct, and if you are not already a Christian, it’s something you might be able to accept. I won’t make any promises, but my goal is only to discover the truth.
Part III
Now we’ll talk about what we have to do if we want our sin problem fixed. Call me a liar if you want, but the Bible is not a big long list of things we shouldn’t do. Long ago God did tell us not to do something, and if you want to know what that was, you’ll have to read Genesis 1. That rule has already been broken. Now why would God give us more rules once he saw that we could not even keep the original one? Today God’s command is about “doing” something instead of “not doing” something. That is a doable.
On a Side Note…
This is not a book for Christians. My target audience is the atheist, the agnostic, the skeptic, the person who believes that God exists but does not claim any direct link with Him, the academic, and the general public. I’ve interviewed all of you; I’ve done surveys with you, and I know how you think. Please read this book; I wrote it for you.

Becoming a writer of speculative fiction and non-fiction that contributes to people’s lives, have been an integral parts of this experiment, as was co-founding Life On Purpose Institute with my wife in 1996, being a coach to assist others to create their own life on purpose experiment, and training other Life On Purpose Coaches. Since selling my veterinary practice in the late 80’s to pursue a career as a writer and life coach, I’ve published over 350 magazine articles in such publications as Family Fun, Boys’ Life, Body and Soul (then New Age Journal), Yoga Journal, and Better Homes and Garden, to mention just a few. Many of these have been part of my pet writing project: Project Purpose: to write and publish articles about people whose lives are dedicated to a bold and inspiring purpose or vision. From magazine writing, it was a natural next step to graduate to writing books, starting with visionary nonfiction — books that engage and encourage while also entertaining. Then there are some dreams that hang around and won’t go away, no matter how many time you push them to the back burner. That’s the case with the dream that began as an eleven-year-old boy. That’s where the other half of the equation comes in — visionary fiction — stories that, first and foremost, entertains while also enlightening and encouraging the reader to embrace greater possibilities in their own lives.
