I quickly scooted out of the booth, realizing Hawk was right behind me. Before I could question him, he grabbed my arm and proceeded to jerk me in the direction leading to the back of the bar. I glanced around the bar wildly, but I didn’t see Dane’s men anywhere.
“They left, but they’ll be back.” We entered a dark hallway and halfway down he stopped us at a door. I expected him to knock, but he lifted his leg and kicked the door in, causing the occupants in the room to scream out in fear. “Out!” he snarled.
I barely had time to acknowledge the naked couple before they snatched up their strewn about clothes and rushed past us. As the man passed me I recognized him as one of Hawk’s men. We made eye contact long enough for him to wink at me. Once they cleared the threshold, Hawk pulled me inside and slammed the door behind him.
“Take your clothes off.”
“What?”
“Take your clothes off.”
I know my jaw dropped at his demand. When I realized that he meant it I began to back up, slowly shaking my head. “You’re crazy!” I whispered sharply.
“Take your f**kin’ clothes off!” So far he hadn’t moved from his spot, yet I’d backed up until my back was against the wall. “Those men knew how to find you, which means there’s a bug on you somewhere.”
I tried to decipher what he was saying, but my brain wouldn’t wrap around the words that he thought I had a bug on me. He took a menacing step toward me, and that was all I needed to do what he wanted. Strangely, I wasn’t afraid of Hawk, only of what having his hands on me would make me feel. I was attracted to him in a strange way that left me feeling confused. Maybe it was because I knew that he wasn’t attracted to me.
I quickly removed my hoodie and handed it to him, kicking off my shoes at the same time. As Hawk began going over it, I unzipped and rolled down my jeans. I’d reached for the bottom of my t-shirt when a memory slammed into me.
“Just a minute.” I waited for him to look at me. “There’s no way there can be a bug in these clothes because they aren’t mine. I took them from a dryer in the laundromat.”
He hesitated for only a second. “I want everything.”
Deciding not to argue with him, I removed my t-shirt and threw it at him. He caught it to his chest and I swear I saw the tiniest curve of his mouth showing amusement at my irritation. He examined my clothes thoroughly, finding nothing, as I’d expected. Then he turned those dark eyes on me, running his gaze up and down my body, missing nothing.
“Everything,” he demanded. “Or did you borrow your underwear, too?”

For me, the name Dante conjured up two images. The first was the epic depictions of Hell from Dante’s Inferno, with people burning for their sins. The second image was a sexual depiction. I don’t know where it came from, but as far back as I can remember, I had always associated the name Dante with a beautiful and sexy man. I’d imagined a dark-haired, dark-eyed, gorgeous lothario, the type who could capture a woman’s heart with just one look. Dante was the Fabio of my generation, the heartthrob that got women’s hearts beating fast, made us want this man to rip our clothes off and to throw us onto the bed.

SOME FACTS ABOUT ME:
NATIONALITY: I am a New Zealander with Croatian heritage.
SPORTS: As a teenager my favourite sports were karate, badmington, and running. I also did unarmed combat and played in a touch rugby team (my gym teacher made me do the last one!) Now, I stick to coaching soccer and running. I have completed two marathons, numerous half-marathons and one 30K run.
CAREER PATH: I started off as a Graphic Designer, then went to Auckland University, where I got a BA degree in Art History and Italian Studies and a post-graduate Honours degree in Art History. I worked in the Art History field, then became a full-time artist, doing commissions. I eventually lost all of my senses and gave it up to be a writer 
FAVOURITE FOODS: I’m vegetarian. I love pasta based foods, tofu, chocolate mousse and golden queen peaches.
BAD HABITS: I’m a major procrastinator, I stay up way too late writing, and I get distracted easily unless it’s doing something I love.
STATUS: Married to my high school sweetheart (which he hates me calling him). We have two kids.

I grew up in Hertfordshire where I discovered my love of books. I started writing fairy stories at an early age, inspired by the stories of Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm. I continued writing poems and short stories over the years and then in 2010 I got the idea for a novel. By the time I was halfway through writing it, I realised there was too much story for just one book, and so the Heart Search trilogy was born. My publisher, Myrddin Publishing Group, have been incredibly supportive and I count myself lucky to be with them.
I’m now working on my 5th book which is the first in a seven book fantasy series.
I run a writing group called Writebulb. They have written four anthologies, the proceeds of which support a local hospice. Their 5th book will be launched September 2016.

I was born in South Carolina but moved to New York when I was three years old. I went to Professional Children’s School in NYC where I was exposed to the arts. Although I loved writing from the time that I was eight years old, the passion was fueled after I got into high school and college where I majored in it.
Once I was old enough to hold a pencil correctly, I began writing stories about getting the baby sister that I so badly yearned for. I’d write every night before bed until one day my mom told my older brother and me that she was going to have a baby. We were both beyond ecstatic, although my brother cried when we learned that the baby was a girl. I screamed for joy because I finally had my sister. Then about a year later, my mom gave us a little brother. Four years after that, we got another baby sister and two years later, another sister. Moral of the story: Be careful what you write for.
The idea for Lucy Green Eyes came into thought in 1997. My mother would always talk about what her life was like as a young girl having to run from her strict grandmother’s switches, and dodging dirty old men in the cotton field, outrunning trucks that’d be in hot pursuit of her and finding ways to become invisible to her molester. Then one day my sister and I said, “Hey Ma, your life can be a book.” Hence the birth of Lucy Green Eyes.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Terry Needham.’ I’m not sure if 2016 will see the 3rd in this series being completed, but we shall see. Not being attached to a single genre, I tend to write whatever grips me at the time. This is what happened with ‘Unflinching’, my first Western. The story simply rolled out of me and, since its publication, it has become my most successful novel to date. It briefly received ‘best-seller’ status and continues to do well. I’m now fully immersed in the old West (in all honesty, Westerns have forever been my favourite era. The very first book I read was a Western and now I’m writing them myself!). I have written the 2nd in the series featuring the laconic Simms, a Pinkerton detective, and have a 3rd already planned out. This may well be my main focus now. Nevertheless, despite the above, 2016 should see at least 3 more novels of mine published. Two more thrillers, and a horror set in Germany. You never know, I might even add that further Viking story and a couple more Westerns. Six books out in one year. Not bad, but I have a lot of lost years to make up for. I should have done all this twenty-odd years ago, but life tended to get in the way, as it often does. Now, writing gets in the way of life, which is a far better situation. Life is what you make it, not what you were grown up with. It’s never too late to change your ways. If your 70 years old you still have time to change your life, your ways, and your habits. To be a real leader it’s not about how you run a team it’s about being a leader in all subjects in life.

A time of battles and skirmishes, clash of wills and armies. Few are the boys who have not pretended to be daring knights riding fiery warhorses, charging an implacable enemy. Few girls have not imagined themselves as princesses waiting for a dashing warrior in shining armor to rescue them. It was the age of heroes.
It is therefore no wonder then that even centuries later, the medieval age is period of time that is an almost inexhaustible source of inspiration. From the Game of Thrones, Knight’s Tale to Dragon Heart, countless Hollywood hits and bestsellers have been based on this age. And it is easy to predict that this trend will continue for at least decades to come.
When I set out to write this book, I will have to admit, I was but indulging my passion for the language of this period. Researching and compiling these terms was more pleasure than work. However, that does not detract (another medieval word) from the general usefulness of this book. Consider this not just as a glossary of medieval terms but as a valuable resource for researchers, writers, poets, playwrights and medieval maniacs. Emigrants are gathering in St. Louis with their wagons, their teams, six months’ worth of provisions, and pocketfuls of high hopes and gilded dreams. Everyone has their own reason to trek all the way to that distant land of California. For some, it’s a better life; for others, it’s to seek fortune; for others, yet, it’s to join relatives already arrived and settled.
For one, in particular, it’s an escape.
Two damaged souls are driving the McCain schooner: Oliver, who has contracted tuberculosis; and his daughter, Janetta, who has contracted a pregnancy. In late January she had been attacked and assaulted. Now, four months later, she has managed to conceal her condition and has concocted a story about it. A widow, making a fresh start, will be more acceptable to rigid moralists.
Especially the Reverend Ross, who, they discover, has decided to join the train. The former pastor at the McCains’ former church, his appearance completely trashes the idea of any background cover-up.
Now, Janetta must face the consequences, as the sanctimonious Ross reviles her and threatens her with harm.
Cole Yancey provides a buffer. He has stumbled upon the fact that Janetta’s cooking is far superior to the camp cook. Also, he enjoys Oliver’s company. As often as he returns from far-ranging trips to the daily camp site, he joins the McCains for supper.
Eventually, however, after a mob action incited by the most un-reverend Reverend, Jordy Butler urges the McCains to separate themselves from the main caravan, out of danger’s way.
And he asks Cole to accompany them.
As Oliver’s frail health declines even more, as Janetta’s pregnancy advances in clumsiness and bulk, Cole is burdened by worrisome responsibility. Chief of which is to get this little band safely to California, which will demand every ounce of expertise and courage.
