I was born in New York City to Colombian immigrant parents. My upbringing was probably the best any child could have. I went to catholic school until college and grew up Queens. Steep cliffs are at the end of each. Why did I do this? Because we never knew what we got coming home. Every day was a cliff. And vivid, deep, sensual, intimacy, doesn’t come over night.
The values I hope to give my readers from the Broken Bottles Series:
* Try to understand your friends differently if they’ve been children of an alcoholic family. They may not be able to openly love you, or hug you, or compliment you as often as you’d like, but they want to. They’re desperately seeking someone who will be loyal and won’t abandon them.
* Learn to forgive. Letting go of anger is the only way forward.
* Children of trauma are afraid to trust. Help them to finally feel secure.
* Sex is nothing to fear or be ashamed of. It’s a way to open our heart and its limits cannot be measured (at least in my experience). Both women and men could be so much more if the fear over good sex could be talked about and acted on openly and honestly.
I have and will have several works published including Shadow Heart, Fire Heart, Jagged Heart, and the final book of Part I of Broken Bottles, Amazing Heart. My first book in the non-fiction series for Introverts “Business Networking for Introverts,” is available via kindle. A series about loving our bodies called “My Two Years as a Porn Star” and a series about traumatic brain injury, “Shattered but not Broken,” is in the works as well.

About When Rven Cries:
Free for three days
Tlingit people are often labeled as “stoic” or “worrier-like,” but in actuality we are a community-focused people whose own stories reveal what are often universal truths and traditional insights. Kadashan accomplishes this vision of “universality” in simple but profound story of one man’s struggle with his own traditional beliefs and those of the dominant culture.
Tlingit stories are rarely without a moral or straightforward point. This is true in this book, and although it may seem outside the boundaries of defined fascinating fiction, this story is true to the makeup of Tlingit oratory. Here in Kadashan’s writing, there is a history, a reality of experience and discovery that it is typical in Tlingit storytelling. The elements of fiction are present, but so are the elements of traditional imagery—as in the presence of Raven’s aura, which unites traditional and modern story, bringing insights to the main character’s struggles. It might be best to refer to such story development as “bicultural fiction.”

Author Bio:
Kadashan was born in Sitka, Alaska. His grandmother named him after her father, John Kadashan. The elder Kadashan was known by historians as Chief Kadashan, however in his later years he was regarded as a “peace-maker.” When he was only six months old his father drowned in a hunting accident. His mother decided to move back to her hometown of Yakutat, where she married his step-father. After his elementary school years in Yakutat he went “outside” to Holland High School in Holland Michigan and later to Mount Edgecumbe Boarding School near Sitka in Alaska. Kadashan did not start looking into writing before attending a creative writing class at Sheldon Jackson College. And even then, it wasn’t until during his time at Brigham Young that he learned the real discipline of writing. In 1992 he self-published a collection of short stories. For six years he worked as a columnist for the Juneau Empire and a statewide Native newspaper, the Tundra Times.
Kadashan is a contemporary author who draws his inspiration from the oral traditions of his Tlingit people. Of course, because of his Tlingit heritage, he is strongly influenced by traditional oral narratives, which stem from his education at Sheldon Jackson College and Brigham Young University, his work also reflects influences from Western Culture. Kadashan should not be regarded as an author torn between two poles, but rather as a mediator and like his great grandfather, Kadashan, is through his writings, it is evident that he is also a “peace maker”.

I was born in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, moved to Queens, and then my family ascended to the Island.
After graduating from Valley Stream Central High School, I went to Adelphi, a college then, a university now, and then to medical school in Chicago.
The war in Vietnam interrupted my postgraduate medical training with a year in Colorado Springs and another as a Battalion Surgeon in Vietnam. I spent seven months in the Central Highlands with the 4th Infantry and five months in an evacuation hospital in Long Binh outside Saigon where I ran the emergency room.
I returned intact in 1968 to complete my training in internal medicine and diseases of the kidney, nephrology.
I worked for twenty-three years in Berkeley, California in a hospital-based practice and served as Chief of Internal Medicine and Family Practice and as an active member of the quality assurance committee.
We retired in October 1995 before fate could intervene. We sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge for a life at sea in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Four years later, exhausted from repairing everything on board, (often many times) we sold the sailboat and within a year took the lazy man’s out; we bought a Nordic Tug trawler. We motored around Florida, the Bahamas, and the entire East Coast and Canada.
I’ve written fifteen novels, ten in the Brier Hospital Series, and one non-fiction book, I Love My Doctor, But…, a lighthearted look at the patient/doctor relationship.
I write primarily to entertain, but I can’t help but pass on to readers observations and beliefs culled from years of practice, and yes, my biases, too. In fiction, I strive for realism in portraying the medical scene that is gripping without being melodrama or gimmicky.
With even a minor degree of success in writing novels, comes responsibility to readers. I attempt to produce honest material that reflects my beliefs. Exposing these beliefs to the public through my writing requires courage, stupidity, or both. My fans have been generous, and although nobody enjoys criticism, I’ve learned much from that, too.
The novel that expresses most clearly my candor, and my bias, is For the Love of God. The novel reflects my attitudes toward those who are willing to sacrifice the lives of their children for their personal religious beliefs.
We live in beautiful Grass Valley with 11 year old Bennie, a Yorkie who just looks like he’s on steroids and Wesley, a 1 year old rescue, a terrier of some sort.

Someone has said that if this world’s history could be condensed into a twenty-four hour period, all the major events and discoveries will have happened in the last 24 hours. This is one of the major signs of His Soon Return.
As historical events unfold THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES are evident for all who will see. Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:4 “But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.”
The Lord Jesus Christ put it this way: “And when these things begin to come to pass, then LOOK UP, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28).
This is a powerful short read that will make you stop and think!
