Growing up on a farm near Chicago, Illinois, I began my education in a one-room school. At an early age I decided to become a physician. Growing up on a farm had advantages, but obtaining a formal education was not one. Fortunately for me I was a curious child and wanted to know how things worked. Gifted with the ability to adapt to new situations and new information, I made the most of them. Unfortunately, however, I was a female. In a rural community a woman’s value lay not in her intellectual ability but rather the certainty of her becoming a wife and mother. Subsequently, in ongoing battles, I had to convince parents, teachers, and counselors that I could become a physician. If it weren’t for my strong spirit, stubbornness, and unrelenting desire to get what I wanted I would not have persevered and prevailed after experiencing other careers. While working as a psychotherapist, I stumbled upon osteopathic medicine. Whether by accident, coincidence or divine intervention, I was in the right place at the right time. Personally, I believe this was no coincidence.

Becoming an osteopathic physician brought many opportunities to meet people, help them, and learn from them. As a primary care physician I am able to serve others in many ways. Becoming a clinician, teacher, mentor and friend to patients, students, and colleagues, has made me a better human being. I have had opportunities to travel around the world observing and becoming educated to the diversity and spirituality of other cultures. As a professor at Michigan State University, I served as director of the Family Medicine Residency Program, a member of the Consortium of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education and Training (COGMET) as it became the State-Wide Campus System, and served as President of the Michigan Council of Graduate Medical Education. Later, while coordinating several undergraduate medical courses, I reviewed training grants for the Health Related Services Administration (HRSA). As a Primary Investigator for several MSU Department of Family Medicine (FCM) grants, I coordinated research of faculty, residents, and medical students. Then, as chairperson of the FCM Department for multiple years, I oversaw the clinical practice of all faculty, while maintaining my own medical practice. In our most recent training grant, FCM established a geriatric fellowship, aided our partner hospital to do the same, and added curricular content of treating body, mind, and spirit to undergraduate, residency, and attending physician medical training. My health policy fellowship training led me to the presidencies of the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians and the Michigan Osteopathic Association. Election as a Trustee of the American Osteopathic Association followed my awards as a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Physicians and the American Association of Family Physicians. Learning and teaching others is a bright spot in my career and helps me to age optimally.

As a former pro photographer, I used to specialise in event work and frequently found myself “shooting” top politicians, business leaders and celebrities, the idea for Sharp Focus was born.
I’ve also been a triathlete since 1988 and my protagonist had to follow in my footsteps. she’s also an former Red Cap (military police) although I can’t claim any personal experience on that front.

Anthony Ordille was born to a mother who loved God and was faithful to the church. She had led him, three brothers, and two sisters to God, which helped him in his later years. After attending a Christian school, he finished high school at a public school, where he graduated in 1976. In Mr. Ordille’s teen years, he walked away from serving God, became rebellious and hateful, and took a destructive path by doing things he is not proud of.

Ordille was living a life filled with alcohol, drugs, lying, cheating, stealing, adulterous acts, rock-n-roll, and basically a destructive lifestyle. Throughout the more than sixteen years of this type of living, some of the choices of drugs were: marijuana, speed, LSD, smoking crack, cocaine, shooting heroin, and just about anything else in between. Drinking beer and hard liquor sometimes from the time he got up to the time he passed out for days on end. Anthony battled an addiction until he was thirty-two. That is when he entered into 12-step programs to help him with recovery. At forty-one, he struggled with alcohol again for almost a year until he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ.

After turning his life around, Mr. Ordille completed the Associate Degree Program in Christian Studies, The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Church Ministry. He completed all his certifications to be a Licensed Minister through The Sure Foundation Fellowship. On March 18, 2013, he was ordained in the Deacon Ministry at Gateway Church, Southlake, Texas.

In 2013 Anthony published An Injection of Faith: One Addicts Journey to Deliverance, sharing his testimony about his life. Today he has been set free from addictive behaviors and wants the world to know that there is freedom when you allow God to take control.

In 2016 he released 12 Steps to an Addictive Free Life and 12 Steps to an Addictive Free Life Workbook, which is an introduction to the program AFL, Addictive Free Life.

Mauritz Fredriksen (Mauri Fredricks) was born in Norway, but grew up in the United States, the son of immigrant parents. He attended a number of schools in different parts of the country as his father was moved around by the Fish and Wildlife Service as a captain of a research vessel. The family finally settled in Massachusetts.
He earned an SB degree from MIT in Humanities and Engineering, with a concentration in History and Comparative Literature. During that time, he had also spent a year at the University of Oslo studying Norwegian Literature. He also served a three-year enlistment in the US Army which included a tour in Germany.
Most of his career has been in IT, first in the Boston area and then in Norway after he and his wife Astrid moved back to Oslo. He earned a further history degree (Cand. During the first few years of his retirement, Astrid and he lived aboard their sailboat during the temperate seasons, sailing and exploring the coasts of Scandinavia.

Wesley was born with Noonan Syndrome, a genetic disorder that prevents normal development in various parts of the body. While Wesley had some other developmental issues, his heart was most effected by the Noonan Syndrome. During his nineteen months here on this earth Wesley was one of the happiest little boys you would ever meet. He loved playing and being with his brothers and cousins. Every Wednesday the cousins gathered at Grammy Mick and Pa’s house and had Cousins Club. It was one of Wesley’s favorite days playing with his brothers and his cousins. Wesley passed away on June 9, 2020.
The original purpose in writing this book was inspired by watching Wesley’s Brothers, Will and Wyatt, going through a scrap book of pictures with captions, of Wesley, that his parents had made. Will said they made it so, “we would not forget Wesley”. Initially the thought was that this book would be for family and friends to have a copy as a memory of Wesley and to give the brothers and cousins an idea of what Wesley may be experiencing in Heaven.
Many children and adults fear the unknown. This includes Heaven. The hope is that this little story will be read by children and adults alike and give them a positive view of Heaven. And reassure the reader that Heaven is a place full of love, joy, and fun and that God is a God of love. (1 John 4:16)
