She then moved her family to Virginia where she earned a graduate degree from Averett University. In 2007, Lisa and her son moved to Indiana where she spent several years working in government and earning a second graduate degree from Butler University in 2016.

Lisa published her first novel ‘When You Least Expect It’ in 2018 which received a best Christian Fiction Award from the African-American Literary Award Show. Her third novel ‘Love lifted Me’ received a 2020 Author Elite Award for best Clean Fiction. She is currently working on her newest series, My Sister’s Keeper.
