Murder in the Atchafalaya by Jim Riley
A lot of things can kill you in the Louisiana swamps, not the least of which are water moccasins, alligators, and maybe even something unworldly called a Rougarou. But as the body count rises in this jambalaya mystery, it becomes apparent that the increasing death toll is mostly due to some very bad villains and some very tough law enforcers.
Kristi is a young college graduate from West Texas recently hired and trained by the Treasury Department. While on the hunt for two of her colleagues, she manages to get herself assaulted and lost in the Atchafalaya Basin. Hawk is an ex-military combat vet now working for the United States Ranger Services. He’s asked by his old friend, the Parish Sheriff, to try to find Kristi. What he finds is not only the woman he’s looking for but also a hell of a lot of trouble. Together, Hawk and Kristi wind up in the middle of ruffians, counterfeiters, financial scalawags, and murderers. As they try to figure out what’s happening and why, while continually staying one step ahead of assassins, they begin to form a bond of respect, friendship, and perhaps even more.
Author Riley does a first-rate job of steeping the reader in the milieu of South Louisiana and Cajun mores. From murders at mudbug fests to menacing mosquito swarms to monumentally malevolent snake pits, he puts the heat and humidly on every page. He’s also adept at weaving a spider-webbed plot that is both intricate and credible. There’s action, suspense, humor, and even a dash of romance in this gumbo of a novel that promises to start a series of adventures for Kristi and Hawk.

Codename Poltergeist: Some call him a ghost by William Joel
Codename Poltergeist: Some call him a ghost by William Joel
The CIA and presidential cabinet members covertly enter into an agreement with the Palestinians to remove certain key Israeli government figures in a plan to enable the United States to claim that they engineered peace in the Middle East and gain the favor of Arabic countries and likely gain favor to increase energy supply. Sentinel, a group of angelic-type beings who monitor the Earth, are very concerned that the United States could be igniting a major conflict if the Israelis learn of the plan and retaliate. Taneen, an unscrupulous and deadly CIA operative convinces the CIA deputy director of operations to eliminate the agency’s most highly regarded operative, James Halyard, Codename Poltergeist, believing Halyard was a possible threat to their plans. Taneen won’t admit it, but he’s scared of Halyard who moves like a ghost through his missions and is jealous of Halyard’s deadliness. The attempt to kill Halyard fails, but they kill Halyard’s wife in the process. An angelic-like being from the Sentinel rescues Halyard who was seriously injured in the explosion that practically destroyed the hotel room he was sharing with his wife. Sentinel heals Halyard of his wounds. They have been monitoring Halyard for some time and give him the option of becoming an agent for their purposes with highly augmented mental and physical abilities. He agrees and truly becomes Poltergeist able to move silently with the grace and ease of a large predator. His earing, vision, and cognitive abilities are highly elevated, and he has the ability to move through the transparency to escape from confined spaces. Sentinel sends Poltergeist to unravel and thwart the conspiracy. Even with Poltergeist’s impressive abilities he finds Taneen to be elusive and very deadly. Poltergeist encounters several unforeseen allies, a highly capable and equally lethal MOSSAD agent, Deborah Eisman, who at first sought to eliminate him and a crusty homicide detective, Harry Sullivan who help Poltergeist battle Taneen and the CIA.

I am a U.S. Air Force veteran who served at the end of the Vietnam war. The Air Force found that I had a talent for languages, so they sent me to language school. I served as a linguist for a section of military intelligence with a top-secret clearance and spent several years at the National Security Agency (NSA). I was very interested in police work and later joined a state police. After some time in uniform, I was recruited to be a hostage/crisis negotiator and was trained by FBI hostage negotiators in criminal and abnormal psychology and in the techniques used to “talk down” a hostage taker or someone barricaded with the intent to commit suicide. It turned out that I had a natural talent for it and never lost anyone. I retired after getting an advanced degree in psychology and decided to use my talent to help others who suffer from mental illness and despair. I wrote my first novel in the mid-nineties but found I needed to learn more of how to express my creative imagination eloquently with descriptive and believable character depiction, dialogue, storyline, and background. I love the idea of providing readers with entertainment and an escape into a different realm of their imagination with my writing. I continue to enjoy reading immensely and my favorites are mystery, science fiction, and fantasy. Originally from the East Coast, I transplanted to Arizona. Maybe someday I’ll return to the East Coast area. I enjoy a close and loving family relationship my wife, my children, grandchildren and my siblings.
Dialogues on Revelation with John the Apostle by Yann Opsitch
Dialogues on Revelation with John the Apostle by Yann Opsitch
Dialogues on Revelation with John the Apostle presents an imagined dialogue between the author and John the apostle, who just received a revelation from the Lord Jesus. Is it possible to know what John might have answered to some of our questions about the book of Revelation? It is possible since we have John’s Gospel, three of his epistles, and the Old and New Testaments. Would we receive the answers from John that we hope for or expect? Would we want more answers or different answers? I don’t doubt that this will be the case, for, as the apostle Paul exclaims, “Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!” (Romans 11.33).
Yann Opsitch addresses how the book of Revelation can help us view things from the perspective of eternity and of heaven. The heavenly perspective shown to John is one full of expectation and hope. However, the earthly perspective is often one of pain and struggle. John himself was exiled on Patmos and wrote to the churches in Asia who were undergoing difficulties both internal and external. He writes that he is their “partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus” and who “was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus” (Revelation 1.9).
The book contains 21 chapters, including “Fear Not,” “The Son of Man,” “A Door to Heaven,” “The Great Tribulation,” “The Mark of the Beast,” “Armageddon,” and “The Water of Life.”

A Little Sinful by Pepper Swan
About A Little Sinful by Pepper Swan
This book is FREE Aug. 5-9, 2022
My step-cousins were off limits… or were they?
I hadn’t seen my three step-cousins, Anton, Beau, and Galen in more years than I could remember, and now that I’d returned to my hometown of Cricket, CA, seeing them all grown up with bodies that could only be matched by Adonis was equal to a religious experience.
We’d come together to restore a house that had been damaged in a recent flood, and to help with their stepmother’s impending wedding… her fifth wedding.
Restoration and wedding duty forced us to tolerate and trust each other, and close proximity caused us to indulge in some wickedly sinful pleasures that threatened to spoil any hope we had for returning to our regular lives once the wedding was over.
How could we possibly bring this deliciously dirty affair into the light, when we were step-cousins… or were we?
A Little Sinful is a sizzling stand-alone, small-town, enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance. It’s rich with sexy ménage scenes, single and multiple partner scenes, and all done with a touch of humor that just might melt your Kindle. As with all my books, a HEA is always guaranteed… Thanks for reading!

I’ve always known there’s a deep creative person within me, my imagination as a child was always online, I’ve been a dreamer my whole life, but it took me many years to locate the source of my creativity. I’ve been surrounded by some extremely talented and creative soul friends for good reason. I’ve picked up musical instruments and tried my luck at art, but nothing stood out and stuck. Initially through writing for blogs and social media my passion became apparent, and as all other attempts at creativity fell away, writing remained at the core of my being.
I see writing as ‘sculpting with words.’ Fine tuning the script and chipping away at a block of proverbial marble until you reveal the masterpiece beneath.
At the beginning of 2021 my first book ‘Plant Powered’ was self-published, it was the culmination of a 7-year journey into veganism, fitness, and plant medicine. Although I am no longer vegan it still serves as a great book for anyone looking to delve into this topic. It is available on Amazon.
At the end of 2021 I finished my second book, nothing to do with nutrition and fitness, this time on life philosophy, paving the way for the next phase of my life. It is called ‘The Journey to the center of your Soul.’ This book inspired the concept of Life Journey Facilitation.
This book was born out of the painful fire of a relationship breakup, which gave creative fuel to a project that had been lingering around in my aura for some time.
As I finished the book, I realised that it was the ‘glue’ that I had been looking for that would bring together the pieces for my online group coaching program ‘Inner Earth’.
Let the Journey begin…
The Ultimate Electric Smoker Cookbook: Irresistible Smoker Recipes and a Step-By-Step Guide That Will Turn You Into a Pitmaster in No Time at All by Melissa Johnson
About The Ultimate Electric Smoker Cookbook: Irresistible Smoker Recipes and a Step-By-Step Guide That Will Turn You Into a Pitmaster in No Time at All by Melissa Johnson
Craving the smoky goodness of brisket or pulled pork? This is the cookbook for you!
Something magical happens to food when you use smoke. However, traditional smokers are expensive, and can be unsafe and challenging to use. Electric smokers, on the other hand, are equipped with the latest safety features and technology, so smoking can be easy. In this book, you’ll learn how to shop for electric smokers by looking at features like:
Temperature control
Size
Construction material
Budget
Once you have your smoker, what can you smoke? The chapter on ingredients lays out an easy guide for choosing food and what tends to turn out really well in a smoker. Tough and fatty cuts do best, since the low and slow heat breaks down connective tissues and renders fat in a way other cooking methods don’t. You can also smoke vegetables, fruit, and – as you’ll see in the recipes – some other surprising foods.
This book is packed with recipes designed for both beginners and more experienced cooks. Each one has nutritional info, wood chip recommendations, and step-by-step instructions. You’ll make dishes like:
Cajun chicken
Homemade smoked bacon
Blackberry smoked ribs
Texas-style brisket
Smoked cocoa-pepper ribs
Smoked shrimp
Candied salmon
Smoked mac ‘n cheese
Smoky lemon bars
Smoked cheesecake
There’s also a section on ideas for dry rubs, sauces, and brines. You have everything you need to get started! If you’ve been putting off smoking because it seems intimidating, this book demystifies all its aspects, and sets you up for a successful and delicious experience. Your family, friends, and anyone who walks by your house while your smoker is up and running will not be able to resist asking, “What’s cooking?”

Whether it was baking cookies with her mom or helping her dad in the backyard with the grill, Melissa Johnson always found a way to be around when someone was cooking. Her love of food followed her to college, where she was much more interested in spending time in the dorm kitchen than studying.
After a transformative dinner party with an English professor hosting, Melissa realized that she could combine her love of food with her writing major. She began reviewing restaurants and recipes on a blog, and doing more research into food history.
Having realized what she wanted to do with her life, Melissa traveled the food capitals of the world once she graduated. She took classes, tasted as much good food as possible, and wrote. While in France, she met a fellow foodie. He followed her back to Illinois, and one year later, they got married. Together, they have two cats, two electric smokers, and about one hundred cookbooks.
When she isn’t working, Melissa loves being active both indoors and out. She’s a jammer in her local roller derby (where she goes by “Melly Machete”) and every year runs a half-marathon, usually in a city with some food she wants to try. Melissa’s “favorite things” include Julia Child’s French onion soup, chocolate mousse, and fresh strawberries right from the patch.

Author Bio:
I’ve always wanted to do things my own way. When I was 7 years old, I decided I’d waited long enough to learn how to ride a bike, so I taught myself. My dad tried to help, but I insisted on doing it myself. Practice mostly consisted of falling over (thankfully, dad did manage to get me in safety gear), but eventually, I was riding up and down the block. I remember that sense of pride. I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
I was lucky to have parents that encouraged this trait in me. We were an outdoorsy family, so most weekends in the summer were spent camping. I learned how to build a fire, identify edible plants, and use a compass. For a while, I didn’t really think about the idea of prepping at home. That changed when my dad suddenly lost his job when I was in high school. I immediately began worrying that we would run out of money and we wouldn’t be able to buy enough food. When I expressed my fears to my mom, she showed me her emergency pantry. It was full of canned and dry goods. “We’ll always have enough to eat, Ken,” she comforted me. “We’re ready for anything.” The wave of relief that washed over me was powerful. I decided then and there that I would always make sure I thought ahead and anticipated emergencies.
I’ve kept up my self-sufficient habits. In college, I challenged myself and camped alone for a week. I still go camping regularly with my family, but I’m more focused on preparing our home for whatever the future might hold. That means building lots of shelf space for food, mastering my sewing skills, and working toward one day getting off the grid. I’m very lucky to have the support of my wife, who is just as passionate about prepping as I am. We’re proud to raise children who will be able to take care of themselves.
The Many Wonders of Costa Contente
About The Many Wonders of Costa Contente
There’s a small town on the South America coast where the sweet sea air mixes with fragrant tropical blossoms. It’s a place where the neighbors are kind, the parrots are helpful, and wonders abound in everyday life.
It’s in this town of Costa Contente that you’ll find Dona Gloria and her husband Berto, proprietors of the Casa de Everything & Anything. It’s in their home that you’ll meet Solange, the young traveler they’ve welcomed into their lives. Just across the way is the Taverna Amore and its owner Gilberto. And Dona Immaculada is not far away, ready with a potion or bit of insight to soothe a broken heart or ease a sore back.
When the drought lasts longer than anyone expected, the citizens of Costa Contente rally together to save their parched town. When the ghost of Don Mateo becomes restless after outsiders attempt to decimate his family’s land, a meeting is called at the tavern. Working together, the townspeople always come up with a plan to overcome any obstacle, large or small. Careful thought, hard work, and just that little bit of the magical assure that Costa Contente will continue to thrive for its people and the land on which it rests

Author Bio:
Kate McVaugh writes fast-paced, fun-filled adventures, mysteries, and literary fiction. All are set in foreign countries where she has lived, worked, and traveled.
She grew up in the cold, foggy San Francisco Bay Area, but always felt that she should be living somewhere else. Preferably in a hot, tropical climate, exploring the culture and learning the language.
A two-year stint with the Peace Corps in Brazil is where she first fulfilled that desire for international adventure. From there, she went on to work as an educator both in the US and abroad. Except, that is, when she required a break from the profession. She found her respite while working in bars and running nightclubs.
Kate is also a travel essayist whose work has appeared in Lonely Planet.
