Mariah Kalungu was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, one of Africa’s largest cities. Nairobi is popularly known as the Safari Capital of the World due to its prominence as a hub for safari tourism.

Her daughter Naima has been an inspiration for her to write and her book ideas come from looking at ordinary things in a new way! She is a Kenyan Historian and a Political Science Analyst and has a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management from the United States International University–Africa.

She now resides and works as a social worker in Seattle. Her goal is to build children’s libraries in Kenya and continue to write children’s books that will inspire children around the world to believe in themselves and to go confidently in the direction of their dreams!
