Creston Mapes grew up in northeast Ohio, where he has fond memories of living with his family of five in the upstairs’ portion of his dad’s early American furniture store – The Weathervane Shop. Creston was not a good student, but the one natural talent he possessed was writing.

He set type by hand and cranked out his own neighborhood newspaper as a kid, then went on to graduate with a degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University. Creston was a newspaper reporter and photographer in Ohio and Florida, then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, for a job as a creative copywriter.

Spanish is an easy language to learn, thanks to its consistency of vowel sounds and relatively simple syntax. There are no tonal elements as exist in the Asian languages – another big plus for Spanish learners. Some Spanish words do vary in meaning from country to country, but it is more a cultural difference than a linguistic difference. For instance, a “tortilla” is always pronounced the same way, but in Mexico it is a corn or flour wrap for meat or beans. In Puerto Rico it is the equivalent of an American omelette. Just as foods may vary, so does the meaning of certain words taken in or out of context.

It’s a cliche to say, but it’s true: yoga saved Luisa’s life. It came at the just the right time and she’s stuck with it ever since. She started practising yoga when it was much harder to find than it is now – it wasn’t all over the internet, and there weren’t studios in every neighbourhood.
