I have always been torn between two halves of myself; one half revels in all things scientific and longs to explore the secrets of the universe, while the other half finds solace and excitement within the arts. When it came time to choose a college degree, I put aside my creative hobbies and perused a career path in biochemistry. For me, college was an expensive privilege, thus I decided a degree within STEM was the most logical route for my costly investments. Through my years in college I still tried to enjoy the arts, reading novels and drawing in my sketchbooks when time permitted.

Five long years later, I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology. I immediately began working full time in an academic research lab, it was miserable. I quickly grew weary and depressed in the toxic and hostile work environment created by our supervisor. I begun interviewing for other jobs and exploring my creative hobbies again when my congenital heart condition required me to have another open-heart surgery.

In the months before my operation, I became determined to finish my first novel; I had started and abandoned several over the years. Once I was well enough, I continued writing during my recovery. Nine months after my operation, I left my job at the research lab and invested more of myself in my novel. It wasn’t an easy transition and it did not happen over-night, but I decided to start a new career as a novelist.

The cloud cover affects air temperature and diurnal temperature range, and therefore other meteorological phenomena, by reducing influx of solar heat and light in the daytime, and dramatically attenuating ground radiation and cooling the Earth’s surface at night.
Clouds (cloud amount), especially dense and thick, can greatly complicate aviation operations. When cloud cover is low it’s more difficult for a plane to takeoff or to land. In liquid-phase supercooled clouds an aircraft is being covered with wet growth ice, which is very dangerous. Also there are threads such as lightning and sudden change of ascending and descending air currents.
The formation of various forms of cloud characterizes many atmospheric processes, typical for the area. The results of observations of cloud amount, received at the meteorological stations, are essential for synoptic weather analysis and forecasting, as they are included in the synoptic telegrams sent to the Weather Bureau and HydroMetCenter of the Russian Federation, and are used to study climate. Therefore, observers should carefully define the following cloud data:
1) total number of clouds and low clouds,
2) shape of the clouds,
3) cloud base height of medium and low clouds

Determining the amount and form of the clouds is produced visually without instruments. The accuracy of observations, and consequently, their value, depends on the observer’s competence and systematic observations of the state of the sky and its changes over time.
Visual observations help to determine not only the number and form of the cloud, but also to make some conclusions about their microstructure (e.g., the presence of ice particles in them).
Pictures of clouds, taken from meteorological satellites, have confirmed previous findings that the clouds do form large-scale cloud systems (macrosystems) and medium systems (mesosystems), which determine the weather patterns in the area. In this regard, in Chapter 2 (2.2) a brief description of the macro- and meso-scale cloud system is given, and in addition to the description of the cloud fronts systems there is some information about the possible deviations in their formation.
Information about the cloud systems, especially mesosystems related with fronts, is reported for the first time. It will be useful in solving such problems as the alignment of surface and satellite observations, the method development of mesoscale synoptic processes’ analysis and etc, the problems, which have arisen with the advent of weather satellites.

He had served the Indian Air Force for 32 years as a Technical Officer. During his tenure, he had participated in the 1962 Indo-China war, 1965 Indo – Pak war, and 1971 Indo – Pak war.

How this differs from other sax fingering charts is that it is designed the way the brain actually thinks: the right way around. Now you can see in your mind how YOU would play the notes, not see how someone else would play them when in front of you.

The issue with other sax charts is that they are not player-focused – they are audience-focused, depicting the fingerings the ‘wrong’ way around. A learner has to do mental gymnastics by translating and then reversing the pictures in their mind before ‘seeing’ the note on their instrument.

About Freedom in Peril: Threats from Within the West by Krešimir Perković

Throughout my life, the West has always been an example for achieving prosperity and has always served as a form of a flawed guide towards the implementation of more freedom for the betterment of all citizens. Ever since the beginning of modern-day Croatia in the early 1990s and associated gruesome war for freedom, Croatia has, at least formally, sought to implement a Western-like degree of freedom.
It goes without saying that freedom has not been implemented identically in every Western country and probably should never be. However, the principles of freedom and liberalism have always been proudly upheld throughout the West, while every society that sought more freedom has tremendously improved the well-being of its citizens. The endangerment of freedom does not just mean potential regression or stagnation but also the loss of a valuable example for societies with an inadequate degree of freedom.
The book focuses on the threats instigated by the Westerners themselves, without any meaningful discussion of the threats originating from outside the West. The reason for that is not the absence of external threats, but my own belief that those from within represent a much greater danger to progress and that the West is powerful and resilient enough that the outside threats cannot instill as much harm as can the internal threats.
To make my case more coherent and because of the constant misrepresentations, the book starts with a discussion of the term freedom and, hopefully, an unambiguous explanation of what the term entails. The discussion is consists of exploring personal and societal freedom along with exploring its proven resilience as one of its main advantages. The purpose of this section is to illustrate how the term freedom is often misinterpreted and constantly used as a political tool.
After the initial discussion, each subsequent chapter deals with one of the core threats to Western freedom supported by objective and factual data gathered and compiled by scientists and many other public figures. The analysis of every threat offers an explanation of how and why it produces such regressive consequences on societies without ever achieving the desired effects. Ultimately, the analysis will show the interconnectedness of all the threats, meaning that every threat influenced every other one, making it all the more complicated to understand them.
However gloomy it might sound, my view is that the tipping point has not yet been reached, and there are some silver linings that can prompt the restoration of freedom. The thing is, the realization, discussion and acceptance of the situation at hand, no matter the position on the political spectrum, is necessary to recognize the presented issues and deal with them before it’s too late. Otherwise, the tipping point, with a tremendous cost, might soon be reached. Giving to pessimistic and pretty stories promoting moral superiority is easy and almost effortless. The hard part is in taking up the responsibility to think and see the shred of optimism and hope.
