David Florig is the author of . . . well, nothing, really. Until A Life of Dates. He did have a couple of short stories published in his high school literary magazine though, if that counts. And he still doesn’t know who his natural parents are.

The product of a teenage out-of-wedlock pregnancy, and growing up in South Jersey, Florig misguidedly set out to see if he could figure out what he was doing on each and every day of his life, which is nearly 25,000 days. That attempt failed quickly and miserably. The result is A Life of Dates, a stream-of-consciousness journey through an extraordinarily average life, full of great joy, overwhelming sadness, sheer stupidity, some poison ivy, lots of dogs and one fall off of a roof.

Florig practiced law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for far too long and left the practice before it claimed what remained of his soul. His legal writings have been cited by the supreme courts of Iowa, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Dakota, as well as by the Supreme Court of Canada. Once he managed to escape the legal profession, Florig served as executive director of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Burlington County (CASA) and the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children.

He once heckled Richard Nixon and took up curling after retiring to Maine. He is a member of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance and the Pine Tree Curling Club.

This is mitigated in a number of ways, primarily through choosing market or sector trades with huge liquidity and also with more frequent trading.

He knows that 90% or more day traders lose and that most consider a 60% win-rate a good to great record, but he doesn’t buy in to that and does not accept a win rate less than 80% as good.

You will find him aggressively transparent and as you allow, aggressively committed to seeing every trader in his group “over-the-wall to freedom through mastery of trading”.

One of his experiments causes his next-door neighbour to disappear, in a bright green flash.

About Layton Bushel

Layton was found under a tree in the middle of a golf course, on a desert island. He was picked up by a passing golfer, who quickly put him down again. Layton didn’t say what the golfer was passing.

He eventually escaped from the island. Not an easy task, when it’s chasing you. Being able to swim would’ve helped. Fortunately, islands can’t swim either.

I don’t believe Layton, as the island doesn’t actually have a golf course.

About the author

As you’ve probably guessed by now, ‘Layton Bushel’ isn’t my real name.

I wanted an unusual pen name, and didn’t want my real name on the cover, as there are a lot of others with the same name as me, especially in Scotland. My real name is Alastair Warren (yes, I’m English).

I’m a retired former engineer. I’ve worked in railway signalling, at an MOD site, at a satellite ground station, a cheese factory and a helmet factory (not all at the same time). Writing books is new to me.

I’ve only written one book so far, called ‘Forgotten Erf’. It’s a rather daft Sci-Fi novel. It’s not meant to be taken too seriously. Friends and relatives seem to like it. (The book, I mean. What were you thinking of? I didn’t even mention rice pudding.)

Influences include Douglas Adams, Doctor Who, the Goons, Monty Python and the Goodies (not that Doctor Who is particularly funny).

The book wasn’t written to make lots of money. However, if it makes just a few people happy, then it’s been worth writing. If you buy or download it, I hope you enjoy it.

Serag Monier is an Egyptian award-winning novelist, a plastic surgeon, and a lecturer in medical school. He was born in 1977 in a small town in the Nile delta in north Egypt. His home town was once called Buto, the capital of the ancient north Egyptian kingdom 5000 years ago.
