SR Smedley was born and raised in the western suburbs of Sydney by parents who taught him the value of hard work from a young age.

Starting his first official job as a 15 year old he was soon working 2 jobs after graduating from high school where he began training in retail management, entrepreneurship and leadership.

During the Global Financial Crisis he lost his job in a slowing economy. After some personal setbacks and realising the world was changing he returned to study. Completing an accelerated degree in Business Management & Communications, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business, a 3.2 GPA, and a compliment from his business law lecturer as being the best student he’d ever taught.

He immediately received an invitation from an award winning Business Journalist and former News Corp editor to write for a new digital media company. A natural writer from a young age he was able to achieve significant increases in traffic for almost a dozen individual websites. This was from a combination of journalistic articles and social media marketing.

A little foresight goes a long way and having experienced significant losses in the lead-up to the GFC of ’08 he predicted the circumstances that would result from the 2020 pandemic. Not predicting the scale of the pandemic or the cause of the crisis he understood the possibility he may be unable to work either from injury or illness. As such he began building additional skills and resources he could use in a digital telecommuting economy.

What proceeded was a steady course of self-study that included web development, basic programming skills; content creation, digital marketing & business model development. He also built a home studio to handle even some of the most complex challenges of a work from home strategy.

He also spent more than 10 years in leadership roles training and managing small teams in the maritime and aviation industries where a core focus on safety and targeted KPI’s was essential. Part of this time was spent building a new team for a major Australian airline focused on providing specialist travel assistance to a variety of travellers with specific needs or disabilities. This has included providing assistance to major sporting Australian teams, celebrities from TV, Film and the music industry and Victoria Cross winners.

SR Smedley currently lives and works out of Brisbane, Australia where he is a fully CASA Licensed Remote Pilot. He is an accomplished SCUBA Diver, a keen photographer with a photojournalistic style and has built several websites from the ground up.

After retirement, I took an interest in researching my family.
This research and discovery gave me knowledge and ideas which brought about the writing of my first book “A family that went to war”. After publishing my first book, other books sprang up easily. His second book was “An Australian story” – the saga of an Australian family over two centuries. I next took on a fictional novel “Lady Ruth Bromfield” an inspirational biography about a Jewish girl, raised by an English, Church of England priest and her progress to becoming an inspirational leading industrialist.
I then wrote “Men with a Mission,” an eye-opening account of events in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos during the 1969’s and 1970s.
I then wrote “The Sensual Retiree” a romance story about a woman whose husband dies shortly after he retires. She makes new friends and discovers that it is possible for a widow in her sixties and seventies to be able to enjoy the company of male suitors.
I then wrote “The Aboriginal Cameleer” a story about a small Australian town during the late 1930s. Although originally aimed at older children, this book has a wider appeal.
