   Cale was sent to Iraq with the usual thoughts any Soldier going to war might have; being lonely away from his family, not wanting to take another human’s life, and above all, the fear of never returning home. Although well trained, nothing could have prepared him for the horror he was about to face.

   Cale never thought the thing that could keep him from ever seeing his wife and daughter again would be a zombie apocalypse. As he and a handful of fellow Soldiers escape their base after a massive zombie attack, becoming deserters in order to survive, he begins the long and unexpected journey home through the harsh terrain of the desert; a barren landscape now swarming with not only undead cannibals, but also the enemy he was originally sent to fight.

   The newly formed group plans to travel west, find a boat and maybe, with a bit of luck, make it back to America.    Inspired by my experiences as a U.S. Army Soldier in Iraq, BLOOD ON THE SAND delves into the idea of not just surviving a zombie apocalypse but making the seemingly impossible trek home. It is the first book in the Z PLAN series.

   Author Bio:
   Mikhail Lerma was raised in the small town of Holdrege Nebraska. In the third grade he wrote his first short story, in which the main character was a monkey. Not taking his career as a writer too seriously after that, he finished his high school years by joining the army when he was only 17.

   He spent 10 years in the army starting as a truck driver and eventually becoming a combat medic. While deployed to Iraq in 2007 he spent missions in a turret as gunner. In his free time he began writing a story having nothing to do with monkeys. Only time will tell if this was a good career move. With encouragement from his friends and family he decided to start taking his writing seriously. Storytelling has become a passion of his, with a strong interest in horror and science fiction.

   He is currently going to school to become a paramedic, and finishing his first series for Permuted Press. He lives in Iowa with his wife and three daughters. He does not have a pet, but if anyone would like to donate a male dog to level out the hormones in his house that would be much appreciated.

5. In His Way

   About In His Way:

   Throughout much of my married life, I lived under the illusion that I had it all together – it was everyone else that needed fixing. Several years into my second marriage my husband, a Deputy Sheriff, became a workaholic and was never home. Meanwhile, I became a volunteeraholic, too busy to face the fact that we had become two strangers under one roof, raising three kids.

   God revealed Himself to me through the different women I volunteered with. As my heart slowly opened to God’s presence, my marriage came crashing down around me. As I cried out for God’s help, I discovered my husband’s affair. I found myself surrounded by faithful people who gave me the strength to face the problems in my marriage and the tools needed to begin fixing it.

   Over the next four years, my husband’s health deteriorated and he was forced to retire. Through this God continually showed me I was In His Way and then, when He knew He had my attention, He would proceed to show me how to do things In His Way. In the end, what God told me to do, saved my husband’s life, and our marriage. What was broken is now fixed by the grace and love of God.

   Author Bio:
   Rebecca Duvall is married to a retired Deputy Sheriff and a mother of three. Her husband is currently a Law Enforcement Chaplain. She studied Accounting and worked in several different Accounting positions as she worked her way up the corporate ladder. Then, not long after her oldest daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy, she decided to be a stay at home mom to be more available for her family.

   As her children went through Elementary school she volunteered on the Parent Teacher Club (PTC) Board as Treasurer and President. Her passion was working with other parents to help the teachers, school and district. She was even a part of a district wide campaign, S.O.S~Support our Students, which was all about helping the school district raise extra funds that were needed.

   Up until 2008 Rebecca had no religious foundation. She thought she had to do everything on her own and the world was expected of her at all times. Then, through the women she volunteered with, she became a Christian in the end of 2008 and was baptized in June of 2009. Once she put her life in God’s hands, she realized He would equip her with all she needed along her journey of life, along with an entire community of people, the church.

   Since becoming a Christian, Rebecca has been very active at the church she attends. From being on the Outreach Committee helping run the Alpha course to being an Elder over Prayer and Administration and Finance.

   More recently, God has given Rebecca the desire to share her story and the struggles she walked through in her marriage. She did this through writing In His Way. She also continues to share her daily struggles with faith and family through her blog www.inhisway.com/blog. Rebecca enjoys connecting with others via the internet and sharing their ‘God stories’ on her blog.
