About Waiting Game by J. L. Ficks & J. E. Dugue:Tale One of the Shade Chronicles…
Doljinaar. Kingdom of might and stone. One name is whispered upon the lips of every man, woman or child old enough to know fear. An assassin lives among them. A foreigner born of a far off dark land and yet lies as close as their shadows. An assassin that goes by the name of Shade…
It has been many long years since Shade left the black forests of his people, the Dark Elves, where he was trained among the ranks of the Unseen. He has grown rich and powerful in the world of men, feeding off mankind’s compulsion for spilling its own blood. His name has become like a cold wind slipping in through the night, but even he tires of his own legend and yearns for a challenge…
And so when Shade was offered a job that could mean his own downfall, he did not hesitate to accept. He would strike at the crimelord of the Kurn underground. In one bold stroke he would make himself an enemy of his own dark underworld. Has he finally found a worthy enemy or will this contract be his last?

- The Thin Green Line: Five Years Behind the Counter at The Big Bookstore by Jesse L. Byers
About The Thin Green Line: Five Years Behind the Counter at The Big Bookstore by Jesse L. Byers:In the late 1990′s Americans flocked to The Big Bookstore in every town in every state. On any given night you could find people browsing the shelves, sipping their coffees.
Standing behind every counter, lost among the shelves were the booksellers that worked at The Big Bookstores. To most they were just drones with little green nametags. Behind that thin green line they’re so much more.
A novel in the form of an raging autobiography, these are stories of crazy customers, tragedies, romance among the staff, corporate buffoonery and what life was like behind The Thin Green Line.
I worked at the world’s largest book retailer for five years and The Thin Green Line is based on my experiences there. The stories are all true and the characters are based on real people. However, as the saying goes, names have been changed to protect the innocent.
It is my hope that the book will be enjoyed by those who influenced it and perhaps some lessons learned by the customers and others who find themselves in bookstores and any retail establishment. Maybe people will finally begin to understand retail workers are more than just mindless cashiers or shelfstockers. They’re people, actual and whole. More than you know.
The Thin Green Line is full of stories: some funny, some sad, some just unbelievable. I hope you enjoy it.

Jesse L. Byers was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He grew up poor and struggled for acceptance and survival in low income housing and inner city schools. Escaping the downward spiral of his surroundings he relocated to Los Angeles in his teens and held a variety of retail jobs before becoming an ordained minister like so many other mail order screwballs and finally publishing his novels. He dabbled in politics, volunteering on local and presidential campaigns and running for office himself. These days he resides in the suburbs of Los Angeles and having left religion, writing and politics in the past he prefers to keep a low profile, maintain his library and do what so many others should do–live each day to the fullest. The Thin Green Line: Five Years Behind the Counter at The Big Bookstore by Jesse L.
