  1. The Visitor’s Choice: A Search to Make Things Right by Alexander Davidson

The-Visitors-Choice-Coverfinal-1About The Visitor’s Choice: A Search to Make Things Right by Alexander Davidson:

Being dumped at a stranger’s house for the summer wasn’t the worst thing to happen to high school student and reluctant reader David Wilson. Waking up in a mysterious place isn’t a treat either.

Inside Mr. Linden’s library, David discovers a book that allows him to travel back and forth to the medieval world of Ethelrod, a land that is not particularly welcome to visitors. On his first visit, David is forced to fight in a traditional contest and wins, in turn making a choice that will change Ethelrod’s future dramatically. When he visits Ethelrod for a second time with his new friend Hannah, ten years have passed, and David’s previous actions have brought the kingdom to the brink of a civil war. Yet, when David accidentally leaves Hannah behind in Ethelrod, the real pressure starts. It is now up to him to rescue Hannah and to bring peace to Ethelrod by putting everything back the way it was. What David doesn’t imagine is that Ethelrod holds the key to his past, as well as his future.

David is a resourceful guy who knows how to take care of himself, but will he be able to find the strength to take responsibility for his decisions and make things right? Will he really be able to survive all alone? Alexander Davidson’s first novel is an action-packed young adult adventure that teaches readers about choices and consequences, taking responsibility to help others, and the power of reading.

  4. THE INFLUENCE OF ZEN BUDDHISM ON THE ART OF GEORGIA O’KEEFFE

georgia2About THE INFLUENCE OF ZEN BUDDHISM ON THE ART OF GEORGIA O’KEEFFE:

Long before Georgia O’Keeffe started painting flowers or the great landscapes of the Southwest, she explored total abstraction and monochrome palate beginning in 1912. She delved deep into the world of Zen Buddhist inspired art making to get to the very essence of thing, not an imitation, but the TRUTH…the Zen way of seeing the world…

There is a plethora of influences that have determined the character of American art, and often, they are propelled by various external cultural influences. The question for this study has been twofold. First, whether within the large fabric of American art’s interrelated influences there has been a transmission of Zen Buddhist philosophy from the Japanese culture? Second and more specifically, did the introduction of Zen Buddhist art making, introduced by Alon Bemont, Ernest Fenollosa, and Arthur Westley Dow, influence the works of Georgia O’Keeffe?

Quote from Zen and Oriental Art:

“In Zen, the meanings often lie beyond language but can be revealed in visual form…To approach this reality with a Western background or common sense is not possible-in order to understand Zen one must experience it first-hand.”

  5. Say Not “What If” by Andrew Friedman

About Say Not “What If” by Andrew Friedman

A dying man craves the time he has lost. Written as a long rhyming poem, Say Not “What If” recounts his journey and the consequences of the choices he makes in a desperate desire to stay alive. Exceptionally easy to read and understand, many readers have praised the power and thought provoking nature of this unique story. What would you do for more time?

“This was a lyrical masterpiece! Very deep with an important life lesson woven in. Excellent from start to finish, and highly recommended by me.”

“This literary work is something incredibly special. I highly recommend this book, and hope that its life lessons will stay with us for the rest of our journey.”

“The paradox of a man’s dying despair with the lyrical rhyming was intoxicating. Easy to read, and emotionally provocative, Mr. Friedman has written a truly unique short story.”

“This poetic short story is so gripping and compelling that you won’t stop reading. And more than reading, I was almost singing along with the story, it was so beautifully written.”

“Say Not “What If” is a beautifully written piece of literature with a dark heart at its core. The stark contrast between the lovely poetry and all the things that made this ugly was severe but it was also what made the story . . . beautiful in an uncanny way.”

“I found myself truly submerged in the story. I read it in one afternoon and it left me with lots to think about, which, really, is what books are all about.”

  6. I Really, Really Want It by Richard Hennerley

    really really want book cover

About I Really, Really Want It by Richard Hennerley:

Welcome to the frenetic world of Andrew Manning, celebrity agent extraordinaire…

Andrew Manning is one of celebrity’s back room boys. He’s spent twenty years repackaging and reviving celebrities whose careers have been overshadowed by scandal and is now the very special agent to a stellar list of stars.

Andy is a wealthy and powerful man. He knows where the bodies are buried.

Shelley Bright, chart-topping singer, fashion icon and foul-mouthed homophobe wants a divorce from her closeted gay Premier League footballer husband. She calls on Andrew to organise it. Reality TV star Joey Camp’s career goes into free-fall after he launches an expletive-laden attack on The Queen on live television: he needs Andrew to save him. And Janey Jax, international Pop Goddess…well, what she wants is so twisted and bizarre that it shocks even Andrew.

And as Andrew’s partner and lover, Johnny, begins a descent into celebrity-induced psychosis and a blackmailing paparazzi appears on the scene, things look set to become even more complicated.

“I am incredibly wealthy, I am a fixer, I am a press agent, I am a re-packager and reviver of damaged celebrity. I know where all the bodies are buried. I know who did what to whom. I am a powerful and feared man…”

With lashings of suicide, murder, drugs, blackmail and general bad behaviour, “I Really, Really Want It” is a dark, irreverent and no-holds barred take on celebrity-obsessed culture.

“I Really Really Want It is a riotous romp through the world of celebrity, it is both hilarious and at times desperately sad. ‘I Really Really Want’ to read a sequel.” (Reader quote).

  8. The Zombie, the Cat, and Barack Obama by Christopher Antony Meade

cam-tztcabo-cover-webAbout The Zombie, the Cat, and Barack Obama by Christopher Antony Meade:

When the writer Christopher Anton visited his local cemetery, he little suspected what was to follow him home. The zombie Julian Faversham became his musically gifted, but psychopathic, housemate.

“The Zombie, the Cat, and Barack Obama” begins with the hilarious account of how this odd coupling developed and then further morphs into a very funny political satire/horror comedy, in which the true origins and ancestry of Barack Obama, the founding of the Illuminati, what happened to Hitler’s body and a host of other modern conspiracy theories are satirised mercilessly.

This is a book for those who enjoy a good laugh at the expense of those who claim to be our rulers.

My writing career started about five years ago and I have published many articles and “off the wall” stories. “The Zombie, the Cat, and Barack Obama” is my first complete book. I would like it to be the first of many.

  9. Three-Ways: A Detectives Seagate and Miner Mystery by Mike Markel

ThreeWays_AmazonAbout Three-Ways: A Detectives Seagate and Miner Mystery by Mike Markel:

When grad student Austin Sulenka is found strangled, nude on his bed, the first question for Detectives Seagate and Miner is whether it was an auto-asphyxiation episode gone wrong. Evidence strewn around his small apartment suggests that he spent his last night with a number of different women. One was Tiffany, a former student who still resented the injustice of getting a C in the course when he promised her a B if she slept with him. Another was Austin’s beautiful girlfriend, May, who had never before encountered a man she could not totally beguile. Then there was his thesis adviser, Suzannah Montgomery, who might have inadvertently revealed to Austin some information about her past that could ruin her own career. These three women and their other partners had plenty of reasons to kill the philandering graduate student. As Detective Karen Seagate and her partner try to unravel the complicated couplings, she finds herself in a three-way relationship that threatens to destroy her own fragile sobriety.
