- Welcome to London, William Shakespeare
About Welcome to London, William Shakespeare:Will Shakespeare is a young lad, happy to work at school, but happier really when he is writing long love poems and short plays. Unfortunately, his father, having fallen on hard times has to send Will out to earn his own living.
Eventually managing to convince his family that his pen and education will provide a better living than by making gloves in his father’s shop, Will sets off for London and the new and exciting world of the theatre.
Elizabethan London is like no other place in the world, with its sights, smells, opportunities and constant danger. While Will is forging his career and making new friends in the theatre, including the alluring Dark Lady of the Sonnets, he must also be very careful of those he mixes with. The Tudor capital is a treacherous place at the best of times, and there are ever-listening ears everywhere. William Shakespeare has to be on guard at all times, especially when he is forced to become a government spy.
Based on a wide range of sources, D. Lawrence-Young has written a fascinating novel that helps us answer the question: What was Shakespeare doing during his so-called “Lost Years?’

After finishing school and doing a stint in the army in tropical Surinam, he served for thirty years as a Scoutmaster. Professionally, he earned his bread in various business capacities.
From 1995 to 2012 he was an instructor at a large educational institution – where he explained to foreigners the wonders of the Dutch language and customs – until Governmental budget cuts terminated both the school and his job.
Since then is Horsman a full-time fantasy author.
His first three Dutch books have been trade published in The Netherlands by Zilverspoor.
His English books are published under the Red Rune Books label and appear at Amazon and many major on-line book stores.
His tales are characterized by their positive mood. Equality and friendship, courage and determination, humor and growth form some of the colors with which Horsman paints his stories. His worlds and their peoples are diverse and full of adventure. And behind it all there is always that dusty scent of old death so characteristic of dungeons, and the smell of dragons, kobolds or other denizens of other worlds.

Now there’s killer stalking him…a fitness-obsessed woman lying to him…a business mogul manipulating him….a deranged doctor leading him deeper into a conspiracy of deceit.
And as the truth finally becomes clear, there’s a finale waiting to explode in a most unlikely place.
The story: Ben Seidenberg is overweight, has angina that kicks in when he’s under stress, and keeps his revolver in his bureau drawer under his shorts. He wants nothing more than to spend the days of his early retirement catching big fish, and the nights enjoying the affections — and sublime dinners — of his earthy lover Alicia Bianchi.
But it is not to be, as a trail of violence and corporate intrigue leads him from the waters off Long Island to paneled offices high above Park Avenue in Manhattan.
At the Shelter Island retreat of Ingo Julian, the scarred and disfigured chairman of Julian Communications, Seidenberg finds that each high-powered company executive spins a different story about the drowning of one of their own. Ingo is planning to take his company public, fears that unsettling allegations will complicate the $800 million stock offering, and would rather Seidenberg went away.
Lisa Harper, Julian’s arrogant corporate communications chief, insists the drowning was an accident. Even Seidenberg’s friend Hector Alzarez, the company’s corporate counsel, may be shading the truth in order to collect millions from the stock offering.
Seidenberg is certain the drowning was murder, and soon learns who did the killing. Now he must answer the critical question:
Why?

Hmmm…
OK, I admit it. Ben Seidenberg is my alter ego. I live out my fantasy adventures through him. Maybe that’s why I have such a good time writing about him. It upsets me when a bad guy shoots at Ben, but hey, that’s the murder mystery biz. Would he interest you if he were an accountant?
The real me was founder and creative director of an advertising and promotion agency. I sold out after 18 terrific years, to devote myself to writing. Before that I was in the corporate world. Before that, I was in the Air Force. And before that I was a student at Cornell.
It’s been a good ride so far, and I like to think the best is yet to come.
I live happily with my wife Sara, who is also a writer, and our cat, Puss E. Cat, who is not.
