    Author Bio:
I live in Pasadena, Maryland, with my wife Veronica and our five cats. I write in a variety of genres including Fantasy, Action/Adventure, Mysteries, and Suspense Thrillers. I currently have twelve novels and three short stories available, with more on the way.

For me, the fun part of writing is developing a plot out of a situation. This usually happens as my characters grow within the confines of the situation I place them in. I rely on their good judgement, and sometimes reckless behavior, to keep things lively until the book’s climax. Thankfully, they have yet to let me down.

  6. No Man’s Land

    NML4CoverAbout No Man’s Land:

It was a beautiful dream, as compelling and just as any in history – yet unattainable. Realizing it meant overcoming entrenched ideological and political divisions that had split a city and the world for half a century. Then it happened; overnight and without warning. And nothing would ever be as it was before.

Set in Berlin during the period just before the revolutions of 1989, continuing through the unexpected fall of the Wall, German reunification and its immediate aftermath, No Man’s Land chronicles events as experienced by Richard, an expatriate American working a job marketing software for a small US firm. His companions in West Berlin include Katerina Weber, the only child of a funeral director who is hell-bent of living every moment to the fullest; Knut Heino, a theology student working toward priesthood in an effort to avoid a real job. (According to Knut, work is the consequence of original sin; therefore he wanted nothing to do with it.) Then there is Klaus, an East German boarder guard who went over the Wall and could never adjust to life in the West. Stuck in West Berlin without the means to leave, Klaus asks Richard for a favor that requires an excursion to the eastern city. There he meets Traudi Franzke, an idealistic young nurse. The relationship that ensues in East Berlin, separated from reality by the notorious concrete border, exposes hopes long since betrayed but clung to nevertheless. It is a relationship that outlasts the Wall, political tumult and German reunification until Traudi’s life is destroyed by a secret past, completing a journey from an age of idealism to The End of History.

  7. Executive Zen: The Art of Life & Leadership by Bob Olmstead

Screen-Shot-2014-07-17-at-12.25.30-AMAbout Executive Zen: The Art of Life & Leadership by Bob Olmstead:

My armor is thick. My defense mechanisms, battle tested. I am an an owner, a parent, a human being and a warrior for my firm. The last thing I need is another “trend” to steal my time. When I read between the lines, those are the words I hear. There never seems to be enough time. How to have it all? That’s the million dollar question.

We will not find the answer in the latest “Best Practices” white paper. Buzz words and pop culture leadership will always fall short. The journey to find optimal balance and peak effectiveness is a personal one. We have to slow down. We have to pay better attention. Most sacred of all, we have to find our voice in this world.

Who are you? What sparks your deepest passions? What feeds you? What’s missing? How do you get in your own way? What has to change? Hunt for the truth, your truth. The ability to “have it all” is about honesty. It’s about trading in the “rat race” for a life of purpose and meaning. But how do we create such a life? Oddly, I found inspiration in the Bushido; the “Way of the Warrior”; the code that governed Samurai life.

The metaphor of Bushido is profound. There was a distinct Yin & Yang to the legendary Samurai; one-part Fierce Warrior, one-part Soulful Zen Master. It was from that realization that it hit me, a simple idea … life and leadership as a single mastery. I call it, “Executive Zen: The Art of Life and Leadership”. And to be clear, “art” as in an “art form”, something to be studied and practiced through various levels of mastery.

This brief ebook will introduce you to the basics. I have also created several free YouTube training videos, packed with content, to support this ebook. No email is required, the program is and will always be, 100% free. As you begin your walk down the path of Executive Zen, entertain the possibility that perhaps, there is treasure to be found. Look for the treasure!

    Author Bio:
When Bob Olmstead decided to begin the process of packaging two decades of teachings, the first step was to interview his long-term clientele, past and present. The goal was simple; create a high-impact crash course on his basic teachings, something that would only take about an hour or so to complete. In mid-2014, Bob wrote his ebook “Executive Zen: The Art of Life & Leadership”, from which this training series is based.

    BUSINESS

Bob Olmstead has earned the dubious reputation of being a rogue, a troublemaker. Is there a big ol’ white elephant in the room that everybody tends to ignore? Lucky you! It will be a hot topic of conversation when you first meet Bob. All of those things you’ve been sweeping under the rug? Yep, that’s where he will start. A good old fashioned house cleaning. Good for the soul, good for business! Who is this guy? As you will discover, there is no simple answer.

Bob got his start in business in 1986, at the age of twenty-three, when he landed he first sales job. Six short years later, he was named National Sales Manager for the prestigious, Spartan School of Aeronautics. At age thirty-four, he became General Manager for Williams Marketing, an international ad agency specializing in the luxury goods sector. Two years later, the time had come for Bob to venture out on his own.

In his thirteen short years in the workforce, he managed to rack up an impressive track record. He earned five major promotions, turned around six national sales organizations, wrote two sales training manuals, managed several multi-million dollar ad budgets and produced hundreds of television/radio ads. A reputation for being a savvy, hard driving leader- the “miracle worker”- was soon established. Along the way, Bob also established a reputation for building fiercely loyal teams.

In 1999, he started his first company, “Wild Retailers”, a national ad agency that peaked at just under three million dollars in annual media. Then the events of 9-11 traumatized the economy. Heavily weighted in the luxury goods sector, his ad agency collapsed within nine months. After completing a national talk radio tour to help small business owners recover (while greatly struggling himself), Bob launched Olmstead Management Consulting. This management consulting practice spanned multiple sectors and vibrantly lived for over a decade, when he decided in 2012, to transition into training and development. In 2014, Bob formalized his training and development philosophy through his e-book, “Executive Zen”, which also became the launching point for an executive coaching practice by the same name.

    THE PERFORMING ARTS

As someone who grew up in and around show business, with a godfather and namesake who worked for Paramount Studios for several decades, Bob always felt a connection with the arts, and more specifically, with film making. In 2006, on a whim, he decided to take a film making class. It was probably inevitable, but before long, film making had become a major passion in Bob’s life. Over the course of the next three years, Bob directed and produced two short films. The second, “Play Time”, premiered just outside of London and went on to tour multiple festivals.

In 2010, Bob began to exploring the world of improv (AIC-Bob_Olmstead) as way to get better acquainted with inner world of the actor. Upon graduating from The Hideout Theater, he became a founding member of the improv duo, “Two Guys From Yonkers”, which performed twenty-five shows in Austin theaters. In 2013, Bob directed and produced his first stage piece, a full length improvised dramatic play inspired by the one act plays of Samuel Beckett. The play, “Breaking Beckett”, enjoyed a six show run at The Institution Theater, and made an appearance at the Improvised Play Festival. The next project in Bob’s sights is the directing and producing of his first feature film, slated for 2015/2016.
