  1. A Summoner’s Tale

    SummonersTaleAbout A Summoner’s Tale:

While the devastatingly seductive ex-vampire, Istvan Baka, is forced to relive his tragic life as human and confront his past as vampire, a very pregnant Elora Laiken faces an ultimate test of survival when she’s attacked by assassins from her dimension of origin. While their friends and mates mount respective searches and epic rescue efforts, these two friends and almost lovers, joined by a mystical bond, separated by distance, must simultaneously struggle alone through their own personal tortures in pain and darkness.

This is the story of Heaven McBride, a Black Swan demonologist who was temporarily assigned as Baka’s assistant. When he turns up missing, Heaven agrees to submit to hypnosis to help the rescue effort with possible clues about his disappearance buried in her subconscious mind. During those sessions, she proves that love can wait patiently through lifetimes for the chance to blossom and be fulfilled. She also inadvertently reveals that she’s been hiding a unique musical talent. She’s the once-in-a-generation summoner, who can call any creature with her flute. Even vampires.

    Author Bio:
My early work (eight-years-old) would be called fan fiction today. I began by writing my version of Bobbsey Twins novels on legal pads that my dad brought home from the office. As an only child – in the days before children became little electronic receivers – there was often not much to do other than seek amusement in my own head.

Childhood fantasies involved being the only girl (for some odd reason) at a ranch for wayward boys. Yes. I do realize this sounds vaguely familiar. Those fantasies were supported by real life events because the boys included me in the afternoon neighborhood games whether it was cowboy/Indians or G.I. Joe.

When I left the Bobbsey Twins behind I didn’t write again until I was married with children and in my mid-twenties. I completed a paranormal romance and gave it to my spouse to read. After hearing his criticisms I didn’t write again for decades. At the time I didn’t understand that he’s the absolute farthest thing from my audience.

It turned out to be a blessing because during that time that I didn’t write, I lived an extremely full life. I traveled a lot, raised a family, got an education (I have an M.A. in Psychology.) and explored my compulsion to be a spiritual seeker. The fantasies were a constant companion throughout. The faces and names of the characters changed as I matured, but they remained a source of comfort. They helped me through hell-raising teenagers and three near-death scares.

By the time I started writing again, I had something to say.

I write cross-genre with uniquely fresh perspectives on paranormal creatures, characters, and themes. Add a dash of scifi and a flourish of fantasy to enough humor to make you laugh out loud and enough steam to make you squirm in your chair. My heroines are independent femmes with flaws and minds of their own whether they are aliens, witches, demonologists, psychics, or past life therapists. My heroes are hot and hunky, but they also have brains, character, and good manners – usually – whether they be elves, demons, berserkers, werewolves, or vampires.

My first book, My Familiar Stranger, was nominated for Best Paranormal Romance of by both Reviewers’ Choice and Readers’ Choice Awards. All of my books have opened on the Amazon Best Sellers list and earned Night Owl Reviews TOP PICK awards.

    Author Bio:
For P. E. Sibley (a.k.a. Pat Sibley) writing is a passion, or perhaps a compulsion.

She was born, raised, and educated mostly in Orange County, California. A voracious reader as a child, she became interested in writing early on. She wrote her first short story in second grade about an ant. It ended rather abruptly when the ant was smashed by a foot.

By the time she reached her mid-twenties, she was living a near-gypsy existence, moving from one city to another. She traveled to Europe several times (Scotland is the preferred destination) and to the Middle East, and tried numerous occupations including climbing telephone poles, picking oranges on a kibbutz in Israel, and managing a bookstore. She went back to school for a Teaching Credential from Cal State University, Long Beach, doing her student teaching in Hampshire, England.

She moved numerous times more—mostly eastward and northward to San Francisco and then Sierra Nevada mountains—and now resides in rural Eastern Washington State with her husband, a wolf-canine mix, a cattle dog, and a cat that believes she is really a dog.

  4. Satan’s Garden: A Novel by Kit Lyman

Satans-Garden-Front-CoverAbout Satan’s Garden: A Novel by Kit Lyman:

Dani and Keely imagined that life was more magical than others believed. If they had to be summed up, their one plus one would equal three. Together, they became something greater. It was twin sisters against the world.

But the world had different plans.

The man followed them to their secret tree house that unusually warm day in September. He only came for one, there and gone in the blink of an eye.

“Satan’s Garden” takes you on the six-year journey of two sisters who learn what it means to survive. It’s a story of resiliency, hope, and above all, a bond that cannot be taken away. It teaches us how quickly life can change and yet how much of it we can change ourselves.

    Author Bio:
I wasn’t always a writer. In fact, I was a non-writer, a serial quitter of diaries. If you were to rummage through the “Kit’s Pack Rat Box,” you would most likely find over twenty different notebooks inside. Each would have approximately five pages of illegible chicken scratch, the remaining sheets left forgotten and blank. It wasn’t because I didn’t have anything to say, for I was a child rarely at a loss for words—tall tales and quips were my specialty. It had to do with three things:

1). I didn’t yet know the purpose of “writing it all down;”
2). I thought my imagination was too wild to share; and
3). I realized I had a bit of living to do before finding the right story to tell.

My grandpa once told me that I could do whatever I set my mind to, with help from the right people. As always, he knew what he was talking about. I’ve been fortunate to have the right people by my side all my life, but not just in the traditional sense. Encouraging parents. Supportive sisters. Invigorating friends. They have been so much more than roles played and spots filled. They are creators, designers, innovators, and builders, helping to mold me—mold my stories. My very own sculptors.

I didn’t grow up planning for a life as a writer. Instead, I dreamed of becoming a professional Matchbox car racer, narrator of Barbie soap operas, Build-A-Bear Workshop helper, Pokemon trader, Tech Deck announcer, sideways-pencil-dive judge, and an architect of Lego kingdoms. My third grade self often spoke of becoming a Hollywood starlet, and if the bright lights faded out, I would live out my days as a forensic scientist. It took dissecting a frog in eighth grade to realize C.S.I. was propaganda. It wasn’t real life.

I haven’t fully moved on from my nonsensical ideas but rather found a different place for them to live. Those pieces of me can exist in my stories, through my characters who make those parts real. Stories have become my atom, those basic units that make up my life.

  7. EKHO: EVIL KID HUNTING ORGANIZATION by Marie Jones and Max Jones

finalEKHOfrontcover-copy-2smallAbout EKHO: EVIL KID HUNTING ORGANIZATION by Marie Jones and Max Jones:

EKHO is written by a mother and son team, about the son’s real life spy agency he formed when being bullied in grade school…with a special science fiction touch…
Ten-year-old Elvis Jones is tired of being picked on, taunted, and teased by the bullies at his elementary school, so he does what any smart, technologically brilliant kid his age would do: he creates EKHO, the Evil Kid Hunting Organization, a sophisticated network of kid spies and secret agents that utilize a variety of cool gadgets to stay one step ahead of the enemy – the bullies. They hire kids, make them swear allegiance to the organization, and train them as Commandos, Privates, and Elite Spies. As kids rise through the ranks, the missions, posted on an encrypted EKHO website, require more smarts and skill, especially when the bullies form their own counterspy group called DEKE (Destroy EKHO Kids Everywhere). It’s all in good fun, until the kids of EKHO must put their pretend skills to use for far more serious, and dangerous, missions. As field agents come across evidence of more sinister forces, they now have to deal with the strange, weird, and the unknown as they look for the truth about the bizarre and creepy threats to their school, their families, and their own lives. They experience betrayal, intrigue, infiltration and counter-espionage as well as teachers and adults who act more mysterious with each passing day, which leaves Elvis and his EKHO team wondering: who can you trust when the person standing next to you might not be entirely human?

Things worsened, or improved depending on your point of view, when he first started experimenting with writing while finishing up his accounting degree. These days Dean has a wonderful wife and two lovely daughters to keep him rather more grounded, but the idea of bringing others along with him as he meets interesting new people in universes nobody else has ever seen tends to drag him back to his computer on a fairly regular basis.
