  2. Karda: Adalta Vol. I by Sherrill Nilson

karda-ebook-coverAbout Karda: Adalta Vol. I by Sherrill Nilson:

With the near collapse of Earth’s systems, a flurry of Ark Ships left the planet to establish colonies through the universe. In the confusion, a handful of these ships were lost. The colony landing on Adalta was one of those.

Five hundred years later, Marta’s job is to bring technology to these scattered worlds. But on Adalta the colonists and the planet itself are techno-phobic. She is deluged by empathic connections to the planet and its creatures, including the magnificent Karda she learns to fly. Ordered to seduce Altan, heir to rich Toldar Quadrant, her conscience forces her to refuse and resist their growing attraction.

She discovers an attempt to smuggle advanced weapons, threatening the survival of the planet. Weary of her lonely nomadic life and attracted by the strange power of Adalta, her “no attachment” policy begins to crumble. If she confesses her covert role to Altan, and exposes the hidden Trade Ship, she risks losing the first real connections she has had since her childhood, and must abandon him, her beloved Karda, and Adalta to their fate.

A young adult science fiction fantasy, Karda, first in the series, Adalta, immerses readers in a post-tech world where Earth’s past is the present, and magic and greed fight for the future of the sentient planet.

    Author Bio:
Sherrill Nilson has done almost everything she (never even) dreamed of growing up in Oklahoma, the oldest of seven siblings. She has been a cattle rancher, a horse breeder, a student, a teacher, and a mother of three. She has a late-in-life Ph.D. in East-West Psychology and has lived all over the beautiful Southwestern US. Her studies opened her to the world of ancient myths and modern fantasy, and the rigor of writing so many papers and her dissertation suited her. So she took a leap of faith and embarked on writing Karda. At first she thought it would be just one book, but she quickly realized the story wasn’t finished with this first volume, and the Adalta Series was born. Sherrill now lives and writes in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Back where she started her first novel. At the age of eleven. It was about a girl and wild horses. She was eleven. What else could it have been about?

This is what she wants on her tombstone:

Died at 105 from a terminal hot flash.

    She took her fan,

She has no cats or dogs but still thinks of herself as a writer. Likes horses and cows, though, so perhaps that redeems her.

    Author Bio:
I write fast-paced, atmospheric tales of fantasy and the supernatural. I want my readers to have a great time with my writing, no matter the genre. I hope you have as much fun reading my novels as I do writing them.

I’ve been working for years with a major literary agency. While I’m still working with them, I’ve grown weary of slogging my way through the publishing industry and have decided to take my career into my own hands.

I’ve started making certain of my works available through Amazon, both in print and as ebooks.

I like Breaking Bad, LOST, Mexican food, Star Wars, Evil Dead, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly — and pizza. Deep dish.
