  1. ‘Albert’s New Friendly Everyday Song’ by Chrissy Tetley

alberts songAbout ‘Albert’s New Friendly Everyday Song’ by Chrissy Tetley:

When Albert enters an original song competition, he decides to write a new friendly everyday song.

‘Songs just pop into my head,’ he says as he explores his neighbourhood collecting different sounds to make tuneful chords and a catchy chorus.

Along the way Phoebe helps him choose some musical instruments to accompany his singing.

But will his new song be good enough to win the competition?

    Author Bio:
OK I admit it. I write stories about bush animals learning music.

The ideas came from teaching children about the joys of music, and when I told them fun stories about animals learning music, they thought this was ‘cool!’

Last year was such a special year in which I stepped over the line from class room teacher and musician, replacing hectic with glam pyjamas, coffee, breakfast, dog training and looking after our small farm with its variety of fun farm animals, to become an author of stories and books for children’s music education.

Music is such a rich experience and everyone should know as much about music as they can. But music theory can be so complicated.

Our books and stories written for Music on the Bookshelf have been developed to provide storybooks about music for young children, and chapter books for primary age children. [In print, EBook and audio book formats.]

The engaging stories encourage discussion about why music makes us feel so good, giving all students the opportunity to enrich their lives through the understanding of music and musical instruments.

Old fashioned story telling that sneaks a musical education in the background.

I have enjoyed playing flute in productions ranging from Musical Comedy to Savoy Operas, Arts Theatre Children’s productions and Concert Society Orchestras.

Any other spare moments, musically speaking, were involved with friends playing in the musical ensembles, for weddings and private functions.

  2. Famous

    Famous_aAbout Famous:

Samantha Steel is blissfully happy. She’s about to be made a partner in one of the country’s leading advertising agencies, she has no messy emotional ties or relationship hang-ups, plenty of money, clothes, fabulous parties – and designer dresses and décor to die for.

Perfection. Until a highly enjoyable one-night stand goes horribly pear-shaped and she accidentally bonks someone famous. The bonking wasn’t accidental – it was the guy being about as famous as it gets that was her big mistake.

Suddenly she’s a notorious scarlet woman and her heavenly life has transformed into paparazzi hell. Making a break for obscurity Sam disappears into the depths of the deepest darkest countryside, miles from the nearest latte, and finds her life taking some very unexpected turns…

Entertaining and laugh-out-loud funny, this is chick-lit at its wittiest and funniest. Fans of Bridget Jones Diary and Marian Keyes won’t be able to put this one down!

Kate is the best-selling author of four novels – That Slippery Slope, Famous, Making Lemonade and Next of Kin. She stumbled across writing books over several glasses of wine one night and enjoyed it so much that she decided to keep going. Not the most auspicious start to a writing career…but that’s where it all began nonetheless! Prior to that Kate has been a journalism student, a tennis coach, a writer for television commercials, a burger bar owner, and an event manager. Kate lives in Auckland, New Zealand, with her partner and young son.

Till we get to Gattamar book coverAbout Till We Get to Gattamar by Kenton Crowther:

As a devotee of the religion he was born into, his life is already forfeit to the invaders. The fact that his father recently beheaded an influential nobleman does not make his position any more secure.

At Tallowin’s side as he tries to achieve this and at the same time strike some body blows against the Kuresian empire, are many loyal patriots, including Gurba the Midge and other followers of the holy Learning, plus that gay hero, Postinax.

In this savage era of weird religious practices, favours and monetary debts are confidently arranged which are to be repaid after death ‘in the meadows of Gattamar’.

    Then came the war…

Hope. During years of vicious conflict with an insectoid alien race, it was nearly lost. Though Earth has slowly rebuilt in the six years since the war, overcrowding and an unstable sun have made life increasingly inhospitable. When mysterious signals from the nearly forgotten colony ships are received, Hood is ordered to embark on a dangerous reconnaissance mission. Could humanity’s future sit among the stars?

Hope. Hood needs it now more than ever. As secrets about the original colonists are revealed and the Epherium Corporation’s dark agenda is exposed, new adversaries threaten the mission, proving more dangerous to Earth than their already formidable foes…
