“I will find you…”
This was the promise that Steven made to Katherine ten years ago when they joined hands in the ruins of the old abbey church. Standing before the high altar, they were handfasted in the Celtic custom and engaged to be married when they finished college. A yellow rose bush blooming beside the ruined altar became a symbol for the promise they made to each other that day.
“Whenever you see a yellow rose, remember me…”
Now, a decade has passed and Katherine has become a successful doctor. She has not forgotten the promise that she made to Steven and has been waiting, hoping, and praying that he would keep his word to find her. Then, on her birthday, she discovers a vase of yellow roses on her doorstep. Could the love of her life have found her?
Or are the flowers from Bill Wilson, another suitor who has entered Katherine’s life? Bill has known Katherine since high school and has long planned to wed her. Now, he’s ready to stake his claim.
Katherine rebuffs Bill’s advances, and their conflict turns violent. As drama rises, Katherine must find the strength to follow her heart and decide on the future that she really wants.

- Judith’s Place (Dreams of the Plain Daughters, Book Two)
About Judith’s Place (Dreams of the Plain Daughters, Book Two):Judith Hershberger wonders what her life would have been like had she been born into an English family instead of an Amish one. Would she be happier with the freedom to obtain more schooling as an English young woman instead of being limited to only an eighth grade Amish education?
In Judith’s Place, the second book in the Dreams of Plain Daughters Series, schoolteacher Judith Hershberger yearns to learn more despite the educational restriction imposed on her because of her Amish upbringing. Wanting more than an eighth grade education, she puts off joining the Amish faith. During her rumspringa, she’ll be able to obtain her high school diploma without being shunned. Her father is afraid Judith will leave their Amish community if she passes the GED test. He knows she’s unhappy that Amish women are expected to follow a certain path in life.
When a non-Amish college student, Eliza Dunbar, observes Judith in her classroom, a friendship between the two young women develops. Eliza gives Judith the nudge she needs to study for her GED test. Eliza wonders what it would be like to switch places with Judith to live a simple life without electricity and other modern conveniences. Judith envies Eliza because she is free to attend college.

I grew up on a farm outside Findlay, Ohio, and I often acted out characters from my own stories in the backyard. If you want to know a bit more about life in the fifties, read A GIFT FOREVER. In high school I would read during classes and hide a novel in front of me in a propped up textbook. After my high school graduation, I attended Ohio State University. Then I became a schoolteacher and play director.I met my husband (just celebrated our 38th anniversary) while teaching at an orphanage, and we married three years later. It took me that long to convince him I was the one for him! While raising our family in southwestern Ohio, I started writing nonfiction and was published. Later, I decided it would be a nice escape to write fiction. We were blessed with five daughters and one son. Two daughters were born with Down syndrome and live with us. Our other children also live close by in Ohio so that’s wonderful. Our son and daughter-in-law have an adorable son and are expecting a little girl soon. We enjoy our grandson and we look forward to the new grandchild.
I have a seasonal job scoring the tests that students hate to take in school. I’ve scored tests for Ohio, Louisiana, Washington, Pennsylvania and Alaska.
I give thanks to God daily for all my blessings!
