  1. Under A Texas Star by Alison Bruce

Bruce-UATS-400About Under A Texas Star by Alison Bruce:

Disguised as a boy, Marly joins a handsome Texas Ranger in the hunt for a con man and they must bring the fugitive to justice before giving up the masquerade and giving in to their passion.

When Marly Landers is fooled by con man Charlie Meese, she’s determined to bring him to justice–even if it means dressing up as a boy and setting off across the plains to find him.

Texas Ranger Jase Strachan is also after Meese, for crimes committed in Texas. He joins forces with the young boy in a journey that takes them to Fortuna, where a murder interrupts their mission. Jase is duty bound to find the killer, no matter the cost.

  2. Death Line by Geraldine Evans

DEATH-LINE-EBOOK-COVER-FOR-PRINT-AND-SMASHWORDS-FROM-SELFPUBBOOKCOVERS-18-SEPT-2013-300dpi-3125x4167-1About Death Line by Geraldine Evans:

The Rafferty and Llewellyn mystery series features working-class lapsed Catholic Detective Inspector Joe Rafferty who comes from a family who think – if they must have a policeman in the family – he might at least have the decency to be a bent one. His partner, the intellectual, more moral than the Pope Welshman, Dafyd Llewellyn, only adds to the angst. And when you add murder to the brew…

‘The detectives brilliantly complement and oppose each other. For those who love Sherlock Holmes-style mysteries, you’ll likely adore Evans’ style, humor and method of detection. A wonderful cozy, rainy-night read rich with interesting characters that all appear guilty and innocent. At every turn you’ll think you know who the killer is, but the true identity and motive won’t come until the end. The reveal is not far-fetched or deceptive – it was there all along and it works perfectly.’

Review by Charlie Courtland of Bitsy Bling Books http://bitsybling.blogspot.com/2011/03/death-line-curl-up-with-cozy-mystery

‘Ms Evans writes with a nice, tongue-in-cheek style and in her policemen has created an attractive pair of sleuths. Recommended.’

MICHAEL PAINTER, THE IRISH TIMES, ON DEATH LINE

I love English detectives and the team of Rafferty and Llewellyn is no exception. Evans has created a pair that works well together without one over shadowing the other in any way. I love that. I cannot help but compare Evans to Sir Author Conan Doyle, her style is similar although her wit is not as dry, which is another plus in my book. I also liked that Rafferty and Llewellyn recognize and catch the flaws in one another that are sometimes over looked in other novels. In my opinion Geraldine Evans will soon be one of those must read authors whose books sell out in minutes.

    Rita Reviews

    Rita’s Rating: Five Stars

‘One of the best crime plots for devotees is written in the stars in Geraldine Evans’s DEATH LINE.’

    PETERBOROUGH EVENING TELEGRAPH

    BLURB

Jasper Moon, internationally renowned ‘seer to the stars’, had signally failed to predict his own future. He is found dead on his consulting-room floor, his skull crushed with his own crystal ball and, all around him, his office in chaos.

Meanwhile, Ma Rafferty does some star-gazing of her own and is sure she can predict Detective Inspector Joe Rafferty’s future – by the simple expedient of organizing it herself. She is still engaged on her crusade to get Rafferty married off to a good Catholic girl with child-bearing hips. But Rafferty has a cunning plan to sabotage her machinations. Only trouble is, he needs Sergeant Llewellyn’s cooperation and he isn’t sure he’s going to get it.

During their murder investigations, Rafferty and Llewellyn discover a highly incriminating video concealed in Moon’s flat, a video which, if made public, could wreck more than one life. Was the famous astrologer really a vicious sexual predator? Gradually, connections begin to emerge between Moon and others in the small Essex town of Elmhurst. But how is Rafferty to solve the case when all of his suspects have seemingly unbreakable alibis?

    Author Bio:
From a traditionally published background (Macmillan, St Martin’s Press and several more), after having eighteen novels published, Geraldine Evans became an intrepid indie in 2010.

She hasn’t regretted it. For the first time in a writing career that encompasses over half her life, she’s now making a living income. She also enjoys the freedom to choose her own covers and make all the other decisions about her books that only a control freak could desire!

But she’s happy and enjoying her writing again after a period in the doldrums during her trad days.

Geraldine is a Londoner, but shifted across the country to East Anglia (UK) and settled in a Norfolk market town with George, her darling late husband.

Desperate to get her drearily dragging on (and on and on) annual accounts finished, so she can GET ON, she’s eager to return to her writing. She plans to write two new books: the first, Asking For It, will be #16 in her popular Rafferty and Llewellyn mystery series. The second book is another historical, this time set in the Plantagenet era and will (like Geraldine’s first historical: Amazon No 1 Category Best Seller, Reluctant Queen, about the little sister of Henry VIII), be a fictionalised account of another real character. The research books she’s bought are piled up wherever she can find a space. She hopes they won’t gather too much dust (housework? Ugh!) in the interim.

Geraldine enjoys gardening and grows many of her own plants from seeds and cuttings she’s grown on herself. She loves painting portraits in oils and, given some of her earlier efforts, has to sweet-talk her nearest and dearest into being her victims. Geraldine is also learning to play keyboards. She’s convinced, if she has the time to practise, that she would take Carnegie Hall by storm. Or at least a little, light rain.

  3. Breaking TWIG

    8 x 10 updatedAbout Breaking TWIG:

Set in the rural South in the 60s and 70s, Breaking TWIG tells the story of thirteen-year-old Becky (Twig) Cooper, who is trying to survive the physical and emotional abuse of her mother, Helen, a calculating woman who can, with a mere look, send the meanest cur in Sugardale, Georgia running for its life. Not even Twig’s vivid imagination and keen wit are enough to help her endure the assaults of Helen and a new stepbrother, but help comes from an unexpected source—Frank, her stepfather. Sometimes, having one person who believes in you is all a girl needs to keep hope alive.

Over the next eight years, Becky’s tumultuous struggle to prevail—becoming neither a “pick” (victim) nor a “picker” (abuser)—finds her bouncing back and forth between Helen’s abuse and Frank’s tenderness as she fights to win this desperate battle of souls. She infuses her tale of torment and triumphs with a blend of dark humor and endearing wit, as when describing Helen, Becky declares, “I may not be the smartest squirrel in the tree, but I know a nut when I see one.”

Just as she begins to feel life holds some promise, Becky’s world crumbles when she loses Frank. To counter Donald’s attacks, Becky makes a shaky truce with Helen. On Halloween night, she and Helen argue and all lies are stripped away. Now that she knows the shocking truth about her mother, Becky must make a fateful decision—one that can give her the freedom she craves or send her to prison for life.

Sprinkled with all the southern flavoring found in a hearty bowl of chicken and dumplings, Breaking TWIG is about finding love where we least expect it, destroying lives with easy lies, and realizing each of us determine our own truth.

    Hello, I’m Angie.

Little pleases me more than to explore the dark fantasy and horror stories in my head. Knowing other people like them is second only to the magic of this new career. As a die-hard Cincinnatian, I much prefer writing to the stresses of being a city Taxicab dispatcher. Thank you for making my dreams possible.

Now that the pleasantries are out of the way, lets you and I take a little stroll. There’s a story I need to let out of its cage and I think it’s one you need to hear. It’s about the end of the world as we know it…
