Where Awesome Book Readers Meet Awesome Writers

  1. Hello, My Love! (aka: A Modern Love Story)

Hello-New-Cover-David-Lieder-800-pxAbout Hello, My Love! (aka: A Modern Love Story):

Hello, My Love! is an engaging romp into deep, powerful love, with a good dose of realism and a twist of mystery.

Heartache and the specter of revenge follow when sparring partners spend the night together two days before he weds someone else.

Food plays a more prominent role in Hello, My Love! than it does in the 19th-century romance novels (notably Pride and Prejudice, North and South) which inform the characterization, style, and plot of the novel.

    Author Bio:
I am a flâneuse. What is that, you ask? Â The closest approximation: a female observer-wanderer. I write about, and illustrate (oils, pastels, digital) what I see that intrigues me. In a past life, with a now-dormant Ph.D., (University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana), and the primacy of my left brain, I researched, evaluated and developed mental health programs.

But writing was my first love and I wanted to be a journalist, but my parents balked at that. Â I was 15, malleable, and dependent on them for support, so I compromised and went into the social sciences, actually preferable to chemistry, my parents’ choice.

My first novel, Margaret of the North, is illustrated with digital “paintings” done on an iPad. My book website is: www.margaretofthenorth.wordpress.com for articles on books and writing, some reviews, and interviews.

  2. Haunted Hearts by Margaret Tanner

Tanner-HauntedHearts200x300About Haunted Hearts by Margaret Tanner:

    Haunted Hearts

Two people trying to escape from heartache and betrayal in England, sit next to each other on a plane bound for Australia.

Broken hearted at the death of her soldier husband in Afghanistan, Abby Palmer is fleeing from her ruthless, wealthy in-laws, who want her baby daughter, Rosie.

Ethan Alexander has been dumped by his fiancée, who not only runs off with a trusted business partner, but also swindles him out of millions of dollars. He vows never to trust women again.

Against his better judgment, Ethan befriends Abby and Rosie. He instinctively feels that this chance meeting could upset his whole way of life. He cannot refuse Abby’s desperate, unspoken plea for help, especially as they share a tragic bond. They both grew up as orphans.

During a stopover in Bangkok they spend time together and get to know each other better. Ethan is moved by Abby’s honesty and sincerity, she is moved by his offer, that if she ever needs help he will give it to her.

They go their separate ways in Australia, Ethan back to his wealthy lifestyle and Abby to virtual poverty. Through Ethan she is able to get a job, and what starts out to be a perfect position, turns into a nightmare when she is propositioned by her new boss, and subsequently fired when she refuses his advances.

Abby discovers that her in-laws have hired a private investigator to track her down, and in desperation she contacts Ethan for help. Unbeknown to her, he has been in contact with her lying, unscrupulous boss, and Ethan now thinks she is a promiscuous, gold digger.

However, he agrees to help her on one condition – that she moves into his apartment. Over the next few months neither of them can deny the attraction sizzling between them. Abby falls in love with Ethan, but she is overwhelmed with guilt, because she feels she is betraying the memory of her dead husband. Ethan, in the meantime, is fighting his own attraction for Abby, because he convinces himself that safe, commitment free sex is all he wants.

When Abby discovers she is pregnant she leaves Ethan, believing he will accuse her of deliberately trying to trap him.

Once Abby has gone, Ethan realizes that he loves her, but he makes the heart wrenching decision not to search for her, because he thinks she will be happier without him.

After the baby is born, Abby struggles on alone until she becomes ill. Desperate and fearing for the welfare of her children, she contacts Ethan who rushes over to help.

When he declares his love for her and Rosie, and asks Abby to marry him, her prayers are answered. It is only then that she tells him she has given birth to his son, and thousands of miles across the sea, in a pretty English graveyard, a young soldier can rest in peace, because his wife and child have found happiness again.
