   Charles S. Stone began his professional life as a West Point graduate leading a tank platoon in Desert Storm. Faced with his own mortality on the battlefields of Iraq, he began to closely examine his religious faith, embarking on what became a twenty-year layperson’s study of religion, spirituality, and philosophy. Key influences during this time of searching included volunteering for Operation Appreciation, a religious charity supporting basic trainees at Fort Knox, Kentucky; earning a Master’s of Science in Counseling from Long Island University, New York; assisting the Chaplain of the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Boston, Massachusetts; and participating in the Gathering Christian Fellowship (inner city home-church) in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Charles currently lives near Washington, D.C. with his wife, Mary, and their four-legged "children."
