- Eat Your Heart Out by Giulia Simolo - 2013-02-28 10:45:08-05
I have always been passionate about writing. When I'm not chasing a deadline for my work as a journalist or thinking up creative scenes for my books, I enjoy music, spending time with those I love and learning new things. I thrive on the written word and the rush of a new idea that sometimes strikes in the most unexpected of places.
- Quintspinner – A Pirate’s Quest - 2013-03-01 00:45:29-05
Born and raised on the Canadian prairies, Dianne Greenlay saves lives by day (besides being a writer, she is a physiotherapist in a remote sole charge clinic as well as a retired EMT, and she tells lies by night (as any entertaining fiction writer would do). She is also an amateur playwright and Creative Director of the long-running community theater group, Darkhorse Theatre. However her biggest achievement is having successfully raised a family of 6 children in a home with only one bathroom (and everyone got out alive.) Her debut novel, "Quintspinner - A Pirate's Quest", is an historical fantasy set in the 1700's, in the pirate-infested waters of the West Indies ,for which she did an enormous amount of research - hauled sail on a tall ship, snorkeled Caribbean shipwrecks, survived a near fatal swamping of a dinghy by a spouting Orca (killer whales up close are huge!), got dumped off a surfboard and caught in an ocean riptide - well you get the picture. Writing is tough, but research is not for sissies! "Quintspinner" has gone on to win multiple awards in Best YA, Best Commercial, and Best Historical categories, and it gathered over 300,000 reads on Wattpad in less than 4 months. "Deadly Misfortune", Book Two in the same trilogy, is also now available. Straying into the genre of humor/comedy, Dianne is also the author of "The Camping Guy" which is available as both a one act comedy (live theater script) and a short story. Dianne began writing her first novel to fulfill one of the items on her bucket list. It was either that, or learn to play the bagpipes. Her husband is grateful for her choice. She is fluent in at least her mother tongue and she thanks her fierce English teachers for that. More of her thoughts on life can be found at www.diannegreenlay.com .

- Saving Ben by Ashley Farley - 2013-03-01 02:38:37-05
I wrote a novel, SAVING BEN, in honor of my brother, the boy I worshipped, the man I could not save. It’s not a memoir, but a story about the special bond between siblings. I'm a wife and mother of two teenagers. I have lived in Richmond, Virginia, for seventeen years, a city I love for its history and traditions. Personal experience with my brother inspired me to become involved with the leadership symposium in my son’s school where I’ve helped bring in speakers to raise parents’ awareness of the alcohol and drug problems children face. When I’m not steering volunteer committees or working on my next novel, I can be found swimming laps or playing tennis.

- Gardening for Seniors – Joyous Activities for Elderly Gardeners - 2013-03-01 03:46:54-05
My name is Andrea Kalli, and I have lived in the Denver area of Colorado since 1989, and it's where I "cut my teeth" in gardening. When my husband and I bought a brand new home in 1996, I had a completely blank slate to work with. A typical size yard for a suburban home, it was not an overwhelming task. Over the course of the first few years I bought about 2 dozen gardening books. I completely immersed myself into it. I learned about all the plants for our area, I took courses at the local botanical garden, and because I spent nearly every weekend at our local garden center, they knew me so well that we were all on a first name basis. We took our time and in about 5 years we finally got it to the point where there were no other big garden projects. As I inch toward my own retirement years, I realize how important a part gardening has played in my life, providing me with tremendous satisfaction. It's been my creative outlet, and my way of making this tiny little corner into something I'm proud of, exercising both my body and my spirit.
