- Escape to Big Fork lake - 2013-01-07 19:17:50-05
I enjoy plunking away at the keys, weaving together inspirational suspense and mystery novels as well as writing a weekly Christian article. I live in North Carolina between the wondrous mountains and beautiful beaches. Every chance I get to explore these two picturesque places I travel three hours (in either direction) and bask in the splendor. I love the outdoors, there is so much creativity to look at, and I’m always amazed at God’s vast world he gave us. My most favorite pastime is fishing and of course, reading, not necessarily in that order and often together. Last year, I caught a forty-five-pound Red Drum. Hey, for me that was a milestone! One of my dislikes is labels. I am a Christian, but I don’t follow any church regulations. I have even been known to go to church in my Blue Jeans. The only thing I follow is Jesus and his teachings. I try to live an unselfish life and show kindness to others, by no means am I perfect, that’s why I am thankful for God’s and his forgiving mercy. My Christian articles can be found at Eximiner.com http://www.examiner.com/christian-living-in-greensboro/mary-lou-ball You can visit me at http://MaryLouwrites.weebly.com to read about my next novel coming in spring 2013. I also, enjoy getting email from readers.
- A DANGEOUS HARBOR - 2013-01-08 01:15:51-05
This series, starting with A Dangerous Harbor, is the result of several years in Ensenada, Mexico aboard our cutter rigged Hylas 47 sailboat. Ensenada is, as most California sailors know, first port of call into Baja, Mexico after San Diego. Most of the town is clustered around the harbor where working marinas like Baja Naval still service American boaters. I found this sleepy little town to be fascinating, full of endless stories, with a culture that was, and still is, struggling to gain a foothold in the 21st Century. The irony is that I started this book ten years ago, based on a local news story, which at the time was staggering in its brutality. This story is no longer unique as the Mexican Cartels daily murder with impunity. But, just as the cartels are not all that is Mexico, this story isn’t all about them, it’s about what happens when you try to run away from your problems and it’s about Americans, the ones passing through and the ones stuck in A Dangerous Harbor.

- The Earth Shifter by Lada Ray - 2013-01-08 16:43:13-05
Lada Ray is a writer, internationally certified feng shui master, world traveler, linguist, financial consultant, nature/animal lover and metaphysics researcher. Born in Russia, Lada always wanted to write cool stories, which she'd been imagining in her head ever since she can remember. Instead, she listened to her well-meaning parents and started her life in a more traditional way (for her, that is.) Lada holds a Master's Degree in comparative linguistics (graduated summa cum laude,) is fluent in several languages and has traveled to over twenty six countries worldwide. She had worked in Havana, Cuba as an interpreter for the Russian educational exchange delegations, including a couple of interviews with the man himself - Fidel Castro. In the USA, she published articles in the Hartford Courant & taught Russian on cable TV. Then, something inexplicable possessed her to work as a financial consultant for AIG and Smith Barney/Citigroup. But later, she came back to her senses and quit the corporate world to pursue her dreams. She traveled to Asia to study with the revered Hong Kong Masters of Feng Shui and obtained her International Master's Certification (graduated first in class) with Lillian Too, world-renowned feng shui author and teacher. For years, Lada operated an extensive feng shui website and blog – a hit with both local and worldwide fans - and authored over thirty articles on feng shui and spirituality for her own website, as well as for the World of Feng Shui and other international publications. At the same time, she taught her proprietary feng shui courses and did public speaking. Lada imagines her stories in bustling New York City and beautifully serene Upstate New York, where she lives with her family and gorgeous calico cat, who thinks she is the mistress of the domain. In her free time, Lada loves to hike the Catskill Mountains, sip tea or coffee at a fab coffee house, and travel. Being a truly Renaissance person, she also enjoys healthy living, creating a beautiful and harmonious environment, collecting Oriental art, political and finance discussions, futurism, all things esoteric and spiritual, and knitting. - Kamakazo - 2013-01-09 01:18:46-05
Hello, my name is Wes McCloud, author and illustrator. Hmmm, where do I start, well I was born Oct. 23, 1980, in Newark, Ohio, the same town which I still reside this very day. I have always had an over-active imagination ever since I was little, which no doubt led me down the path to be a fiction writer. My love for writing spawned at an early age. I remember absolutely loving when teachers would give us fiction writing assignments, especially when you were able to illustrate them. I read lots of fiction novels through my elementary and middle-school years, but it was not until my freshman year of high school that I decided to start writing my very first novel, "Kentucky Moon". The very act of writing a novel was intoxicating to me. There is nothing quite like it. The characters, the settings, the heroes and the villains...the culmination of all the events you envisioned coming to life within your mind, creating an alternate reality that you feel with all five senses. And by the time the words "The End" are written upon the last page, you swear that you had lived through every breath of every character within. It is pure magic, and nothing can duplicate its enigmatic polarity upon the heart, mind, and soul. And I must say, from the first day I laid pencil to paper on that very first book, I have been in love with novel writing ever since. Personal stats: Well now that I got the writing aspect out of the way, you may want to know a tad more about me. I currently share a house with 2 dogs and 2 Panther Chameleons - a min pin named, Zoey, a pug named, Abby. The Chameleons are Chloe and Ziggy. My wife, Morgan, and I thank them everyday for letting us have the privilege to live in "their" house and feed them everyday. I absolutely enjoy the outdoors. I especially love writing my books while outside. I have a borderline unhealthy love of mountain biking. I have been riding bikes off-road for about 6 years now and I am absolutely in love with it. I bike in the heat, the cold, and even at night! - and once in a raging storm ( not my choice, and not recommended, but one of the best rides ever!) Mountain biking not only clears my head and fills my heart with adrenaline, but also connects me to the outdoors on a level I can not even put into words....the fitness benefits are a happy side effect, Ha! Ha! Obviously I love drawing. I have been enjoying that hobby ever since I could put pencil to paper, or crayon to paper. I design, draw, and color all of my book covers from scratch. I also have been building and remodeling houses since I was eighteen years old. I do this line of work with my father, Otis McCloud, who has had his own business since 1972 ( McCloud Building & Remodeling ) Dad is still at it at 69 years of age. He still works as hard as me if not harder. We continue to remodel mainly, and it pays the bills until my books take that over. So having said that, I also love redoing rooms, putting in new cabinets, painting walls, I just love giving houses a new breath of life. It's awesome to see the looks on peoples faces when you take something that they are so use to seeing and change it into something brand new.
