USA Today bestselling author Patti Berg started writing in fifth grade. Years later, in 1994, Patti's dream of becoming a published author came true with the release of her first book, ENCHANTED. Since that time, Patti has had numerous other novels published, many of them landing on the USA Today bestseller list and winning awards. Patti has been called "one of the best spinners of tales the genre has to offer" by Affaire de Coeur magazine and "an exceptional voice in the field of romantic fiction" by Romantic Times. New York Times bestselling author Victoria Alexander says "Patti Berg simply sizzles!" and the Dallas Morning News calls her books "Excellent!" 6. Melbourne Bound by Judith O’Nagy - 2012-12-23 15:05:35-05
Brief biography Melbourne Bound is my first attempt at formal story writing. My family and I moved to Melbourne in the late 1980’s, escaping the final years of communism in Hungary. I have lived in Melbourne ever since. I am 33 years of age, and currently work full-time in the finance sector. I love to write, and dream of making a living as an author. Target genre Melbourne Bound falls into a combination of genres – fiction, travel writing and humour. There is also an element of romantic comedy. The narrative character is an Englishman, Tom, who moves to Melbourne seeking a much needed change. The idea for this book came from observing how my partner, also an Englishman, and his English friends have adapted (or failed to adapt) to life in Melbourne. I must stress however, that the book is entirely a piece of fiction. I am a fan of Bill Bryson’s books. In Melbourne Bound, I have not attempted to go to the depths of observation and research that Bill Bryson goes to, but I have strived to draw out what I think are interesting and perhaps somewhat controversial aspects of life in Australia. My intended audience is readers in the age bracket of 25-45 years of age, who enjoy stories about fresh starts and new adventures. The story is likely to appeal to English readers daydreaming about or seriously considering a move to Australia, and Australians considering a move to the UK, or with some link to the UK.
  7. Broken - 2012-12-23 19:01:45-05
Dean Murray is a fairly prolific author who has released 18 titles in the last two years across two different pen names. Dean has an estimated 100,000 copies of his work currently in circulation and shows no signs of slowing down. Dean started reading seriously in the second grade due to a competition and has spent most of the subsequent three decades lost in other people's worlds. After reading several local libraries more or less dry of sci-fi and fantasy, he started spending more time wandering around worlds of his own creation to avoid the boredom of the 'real' world. Things worsened, or improved depending on your point of view, when he first started experimenting with writing while finishing up his accounting degree. These days Dean has a wonderful wife and daughter to keep him rather more grounded, but the idea of bringing others along with him as he meets interesting new people in universes nobody else has ever seen tends to drag him back to his computer on a fairly regular basis.

  17. Sword of the Raven - 2012-12-23 20:37:13-05
When her dreams of becoming a ballerina were quashed by early-onset klutziness, Diana Duncan took up the safer vocation of writing. Her first thrilling masterpiece--written in orange crayon--was titled "Perky the Kitten," and became an instant bestseller with her grandparents. Her childhood growing up as a military brat gave her the ability to leap into a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime...and she always discovers a new friend in the process. This gift of gab perfectly equipped her for a career that involves making stuff up. Di is famous for using seven words when one will do. She wields smart-assery like a samurai sword, and will be the first to volunteer in a catastrophe. Of course, she was probably the one who caused the catastrophe. She's fiercely loyal to her friends and family...but in the event of the upcoming zombie apocalypse, she won't hesitate to use them as human shields. She loves her job as an author, and claims writing is the most fun she's ever had while wearing her sock monkey pajamas. She also enjoys gardening, cooking, and adopting abandoned curbside furniture to refurbish into treasures. Diana published 6 award-winning books with a traditional NY publishing house before going rogue with Indie publishing. 10% of the proceeds of every book she sells is donated to different organizations that serve those who are in need, both people and animals.

  25. Can This Book Get You An Exceedingly Hot Girlfriend Too? by John Alanis - 2012-12-23 20:50:33-05
---> How To Get Uncommonly Sexy Women to Approach You First For a Date, No Matter Your Looks, Age or Income.... Hi, my name is John Alanis from www.WomenApproachYou.com , and I have a rather unusual story, one that might just help you get the women you really want to approach you first for a date, no matter your looks, age or income. Even better, it might just help you find, attract, and keep the woman you really want, not the one you have to settle for like most men do. Interested? Read on--this might just be the day your life with women changed forever (If you look to the right, I have a ***blog***, updated daily that reveals these secrets...it's politically incorrect and highly controversial, but I always tell it like it is). I freely admit it. I was a complete loser with women in high school. And college. And for all of my 20's. I was a decent looking guy, ran my own business, spent some time in the Navy (submarines) but couldn't for the life of me attract women. Even if I got a first date on occasion, I never, ever got a second date. I got lots of safe hugs, and lots of LJBF's (Let's Just Be Friends), but I simply could not get any results with women and it drove me crazy. One day several years ago, I was at a business event, listening to short, fat, dumpy, 50 some-odd year old guy give a talk about advertising, and it was fascinating. But what was even more fascinating was the reaction of all the women in the audience to this man who, quite frankly, looked like a basset hound. They all rushed the stage, vying for his attention, and I watched him take 3 phone numbers of the hottest, smartest, most desirable women there. What did this fluffy hound of a human being have that I didn't? I was soon to find out. I cornered him and convinced him to have dinner with me that night. After some prodding, he finally shared his secrets, secrets he'd been wanting to reveal for a long time. What he told me was amazing. He'd spent years in advertising, convincing people how to buy stuff, when one day a light went off in his head--he could use what he learned in advertising to attract women, and it worked like a charm. In fact, it worked too well because he met too many women too fast who wanted to "get with him," that he ran into a whole host of other problems. I listened intently, and took note after note, vowing to apply what "The Hound" taught me in the real world, and wow, did it ever work. I went from zero to hero with sexy women in no time flat, and never looked back. In fact, I got so good, I decided to carry on the work of "The Hound" and started a business teaching men how to attract women. I started in May of 2004, and it's been a smashing success, with lots of men duplicating what The Hound taught me. It is, finally, time for me to tell my story and share my secrets with the general public. I'm creating series of books called "John Alanis's Women Approach You Series" that reveal step by step how any man can attract the women you really want, no matter your looks, age or income in a way that makes women incredibly happy. My current catalog is listed below, and I'm adding to it constantly. I want to cover every aspect of attraction so my readers can lead a lifetime of power, success, and choice with the women they really want, not the one they have to settle for like most men do. Each volume covers a specific strategy of attraction, plus tells part of my story, so I highly advise you take action and invest in each one. Each book also comes with a complementary bonus video that works hand in hand with what I reveal in the book. Attraction is, after all, a visual and auditory media and must be viewed that way to be truly understood. So, browse the catalog below, choose the books you like best, click the buy button and you can start succeeding with women literally minutes from now. Lord knows if a guy like me can do it, so can any man. I look forward to hearing your success story! -John Alanis The King of Let'em Come to You PS Be sure to check out my blog over to the right...I write something new, witty, and controversial every single day. Those who are politically correct will be offended, those who like the "No BS, tell-it-like-it-really-is" approach will be delighted.
  26. Sylvia’s Sonnets by R I Heslop - 2012-12-23 20:54:51-05
I have three sons, one daughter, two grandchildren and have been married for 48 years to my wife Sylvia. I am 69 years old, a retired high school teacher of English, Drama and Special Needs, and have been writing off and on for as long as I can remember. Amazon and Kindle are leading the way for authors like myself to at last gain recognition. Back in the seventies I wrote a horror novel for children 11 to 12 years old. This came about because I wanted something that would work as a class reader when I was Head of English at my previous school. I even managed to get myself one of the leading children's agents of the time but the offers I got for the book would have meant me destroying the best of the book in order to make it fit into a series already conceived. I wasn't prepared to do this. I have tried over the years to become published but have become disheartened by rejections. Globe came about because a dear friend of mine got me started writing again when he came up with the idea of a molecular computer. It was entered into a competition, didn't win but got enough plaudits to get an offer to publish. We naturally took this up but the book never got any publicity and later the publisher went bust. My old school, Walbottle High School, in the west end of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, always puts on a musical as the main production every summer. I helped to produce a number of them but the best one was in 1997 when I wrote the book, music and lyrics for my musical Ghostwalk. It is a rock and roll musical set in an American high school, circa 1955. It is loosely based on my favourite play, Hamlet, by the greatest writer who ever lived - William Shakespeare - and also refers in some of the events and names to my other hero, Elvis, the greatest singer who ever lived. I have just published a romance, Annie's Guest, on the Kindle. Since about 1997 I have been writing sonnets for my wife on the following occasions: Christmas, Valentine's Day, her birthday and our wedding anniversary. I've written close on fifty and I am busy preparing them for the Kindle for release later in the year. My friend Jim and I are now working on a series of seven books called The Seven Runes. The first one, The Alchemist's Daughter, is available on the Kindle. The second one, Knights of the Wyrm, should be available by Easter.
  27. Isle of Wysteria: Make Like a Tree and Leaf - 2012-12-23 21:22:41-05
I come from a family of ballet dancers. (I know, right?) My parents actually met dancing at Ballet West together. So, the first few years of my life were spent backstage at productions like CATS, Dreamgirls, and A Chorus Line, where I developed a lifelong aversion to stage makeup. My parents even appeared in a few movies and TV shows, like Girls Just Wanna have fun, and the Tracy Ullman show, but that is about as much name-dropping as I can currently muster. I spent two years living in Argentina as a missionary, where I became addicted to mayonnaise, and developed a crippling fear of small dogs. In college I studied aviation, and was well on my way to becoming a commercial airline pilot when I suddenly developed a rare illness that left me with severe heart damage. Bed-ridden for about a year, I began writing, as it was one of the few things I could do. I spent the next decade writing books and taking care of my kids while my wife worked, waiting for that letter to come in the mail which never came. (Should have written about sparkly vampires instead) When my son Stephen passed away in July of 2012, I decided that I was going to dedicate my first book to him, and I wasn't going to wait for anyone's permission to be published anymore. I was going to do it myself.
  28. The Whisplins Trilogy: Blue Truth - 2012-12-23 22:16:33-05
Michael Curtis Hilde began appearing on screens and in video games at a young age as an actor. His love of cinema took him to NYU Film School, but a change in direction came after Hilde eye-witnessed 9/11. Following a seminal period reading Joyce's Ulysses, he went on to study Literature and write novels at UCLA. Writing books taught him to write songs and in 2005, Hilde began to develop the songwriting project which started as Almaden, and later turned into Mountainhood. To date, Mountainhood has released 18 albums on a variety of indie record labels and created a rare kind of music which Time Out New York dubbed "Avantfolk." Hilde's next release is forthcoming on Gnome Life Records. Hilde's writing was first published by NPR's Andrei Codrescu in his literary magazine, Exquisite Corpse. While studying at university, Hide's short fiction was collected in Broke: A Literary Anthology; he also wrote a one-act play named Strangers which ran in Greenwich Village, NYC, in 2002. In addition to these, Hilde currently writes and directs for the cinema. He lives close to nature in The Nisene Marks, Northern California.

  31. American Liberation Front - 2012-12-24 00:35:31-05
Scott graduated from The Ohio State University in 2004 with a degree in history and political science. Six months later he decided he wanted to be a writer, which made the degree largely worthless. By his estimate, he will need to sell another 13,653 e-books to pay off his student loans. So... if you could recommend him to your friends that would be great. Scott has written six novels in genres ranging from science fiction to political satire. He tried combining the two genres once, but he didn't think anyone would be interested in a sex scandal involving the President of Blargon 7. When not writing, he enjoys being asleep. He currently lives in central Ohio, or as you might know it better as, "that state I fly over on my way to a state I care about."
  32. The Visit - 2012-12-24 01:34:59-05
Born in New Orleans, Rick Gutknecht spent his early life in coastal Mississippi. A Loyola New Orleans Philosophy graduate, he has worked in publication and promotion management, most recently with Hallmark Cards of Kansas City. Following early retirement he wrote suspense novels Choices, Cry of the Wolf , and Swamp, all set or originating in the author’s beloved Gulf Coast area. The suspense novels’ protagonist-narrator is investigative reporter Corbett Reid, who works for a New Orleans tabloid that leans toward the sensational. Reid would rather write about his Mississippi shorebirds than chart evils of the world. Gutknecht has begun a fourth Corbett Reid mystery and has written autobiographic works Wolf River, a self-published boyhood memoir, and The Visit, a weekend-recalled tribute to his then-dying mother and recently deceased father and much-loved wife, Pat, who’d birthed the couples’ five children. He lives in Kansas. My brothers and I spent our early boyhood in coastal Mississippi in a century old farmhouse. The property, bought cheaply during depression days, had a hundred acres of pines, hardwoods, and swamps. Our home was minus electricity and inside plumbing, but we had our own lake and a landing on glorious Wolf River. It was a boyhood paradise! But Mom had to cook our meals initially on a huge wood-burning stove, as old as the house itself. We kids had to chop stove-wood and lug water from an outdoor well for cooking and bathing. Our dad’s job was in New Orleans, so Mom and we boys saw Pop only on weekends. Our Swiss immigrant father, a mechanical engineer, loved estimating for a New Orleans sheet metal firm. But he also fell in love with fishing his lake, and swimming with his sons. Which meant that on weekends Mom got little of Pop’s attention. Oh, our mother loved riverside life, too—but most of her time was spent raising and feeding a trio of usually hungry recalcitrants. Our dad’s inattention to the needs of his wife, such as keeping their sons in line and providing a bit of romance, would lead to a host of family ills, some of which would appear much later in our lives.

  34. Seeing Stars by Vanessa Grant - 2012-12-24 03:15:09-05
Vanessa Grant's love affair with writing fiction began during a protracted illness at the age of 12 when she decided to write a novel of her own, sitting up in bed using the typewriter she'd been given for her birthday. Not a computer, not an electric typewriter, but a then-state-of-the-art manual typewriter. The story, a romance, ground to a halt on page 50 but Vanessa never forgot the excitement of bringing her own characters to life. She later wrote three unpublished novels, developing her skills as a writer while living on a remote lighthouse during what she thinks of as her baby-making, basket weaving, beach-walking days. In 1985 Vanessa's novel Pacific Disturbance was published in hardcover by Mills and Boon. She now has over 10 million books sold and has been translated into 15 languages. She also has written what one critic described as, "by far the best writing book I've ever read." Writing Romance, published by Self Counsel Press, won the Under the Covers Best Writing Book Award, and is currently in its third edition. Over the years her love of storytelling and her curiosity about people led Vanessa to study psychology, volunteer on a crisis line, complete individual and relationship counselor training, volunteer as a peer counselor for a family life organization, and tell stories about life, love, and secrets. Vanessa is also an accountant, a university professor, a publisher of educational materials and eBooks, and a popular international speaker with considerable media experience. Vanessa and her husband have lived on an island in the Pacific Northwest since returning from a two year sailing cruise to Mexico some years ago. Vanessa loves hearing from readers and from other writers.
