When James was thirteen years old he read The Talisman, by Stephen King and Peter Straub, and a seed of an idea was planted that someday he, too, would create different worlds and realities. After a stint in the US Army, a year as a long-haul truck driver, and a couple as a log home builder, he enrolled at the University of Montana. There, he majored in Psychology and, by chance, took a creative writing course. Words started to flow, and worlds were born. James lives in Montana with his wife and his bodyguard, a Mini-Schnauzer named Jonesy.

- The Wedding Shroud: A Tale of Ancient Rome - 2012-12-26 13:38:20-05
Elisabeth Storrs has long had a passion for the history, myths and legends of the ancient world. She graduated from University of Sydney in Arts Law having studied Classics. Her curiosity piqued by an Etruscan sarcophagus depicting a couple embracing for eternity, she discovered the little known story of the struggle between Etruscan Veii and Republican Rome and the inspiration to write her first novel, The Wedding Shroud. Elisabeth lives with her husband and two sons in Sydney and over the years has worked as a solicitor, corporate lawyer and corporate governance consultant. Researched and written over a period of ten years, The Wedding Shroud vividly describes the world of Etruria, a fantastic society ultimately destroyed by Rome but which heavily influenced its conqueror's culture from republican into imperial times. The sequel, The Golden Dice, will be released in 2013.

- The Testing of Archie Rathbone by Alex Hunter - 2012-12-26 13:44:20-05
Alex Hunter was born in the early nineteen-sixties, when that was still considered the fashionable thing. He discovered the joys of story telling and creative writing at school, where his talents in that area were widely acknowledged. He started to write his first novel at the age of twenty-two. After completing the first thirty pages, he foolishly got a job, and this really interfered with the creative process for the next fifteen years. The Testing of Archie Rathbone, his third novel, was completed in 2012 and was published as a Kindle ebook in June 2012. He is currently working on a new novel, and has several other similar projects in mind. He has never been known to wake up on the beach of a tropical island.
- A Whisper From Your Soul - 2012-12-26 13:45:33-05
The scribe behind the Whispers… While I appear to be the “voice” here, we all know that is not the case. I simply get messages from my soul, just like you do. I am purely a conduit for universal truths that belong to us all. What I know is that we all have access to the same messages. It’s just a matter of when we choose to hear them. My hope is that you will choose to hear them now. These reminders will hopefully unlock the voice of your soul so that its messages permeate your being with its wisdom and truths. I look forward to hearing how your journey evolves. From my soul to yours- with many blessings, Drayton

There are ritual shrines hidden near the hiking trails and secret practitioners who summon the spirits left over from a thousand years of history. - Pandora 2012: Southern Belles by Ivan Borodin - 2012-12-26 15:11:52-05
Mr. Borodin drafts his stories longhand. He prefers to glare menacingly at lined paper as opposed to a computer screen. He also prefers leather belts to suspenders. He has written several stage plays, including Play Rough. He cried when he first picked up the pen because he was unsure if the writer’s life was right for him. He decided it was and is dealing with the aftermath now. One December night he woke, pale and unkempt and moonstruck from a vivid dream about the mall near his home in South Carolina. It could have been a scene surgically removed from Pandora, except for its happy ending. He dressed, folded his short sleeves in neat cuffs under his biceps, and cracked open a virgin composition book. Six months later, Pandora 2011: Accounts of the Cursed Shopping Center was ready for publication. Mr. Borodin is also an actor and a dialect teacher, so he spends time in California.

- JACK in the BOX by Hanna Allen - 2012-12-26 15:14:51-05
A few years ago, I spent a night in the Icehotel in the north of Sweden, not far from the Arctic Circle. The Icehotel is built entirely of ice and snow, melting into the river in spring, and rebuilt in autumn. During the day it's a museum, and the rooms house ice statues. But at night it becomes a hotel. As I lay in my candle-lit room on an ice bed strewn with reindeer skins, staring at the velvet curtain which served as a door, it suddenly struck me that anyone could creep in as I slept. And murder me. The killer could melt into the background, face and identity hidden beneath a snowsuit and ski mask. There would be no fingerprints, no clues left behind. A murder made easy. The seeds for a novel germinated in my mind. I started writing, took some writing classes, continued writing, took some more writing classes and, after heaps of editing and rewriting, completed my book. The finished product is my debut novel, ICEHOTEL. My career has been in education. I've worked as a researcher, a maths teacher, in IT support and in information management (the last two at the University of St Andrews in Scotland). Writing now takes up most of my time, something I do in the peace and tranquility of a fishing village situated On the Edge of the Known World in Scotland. When I feel the need for excitement, I travel (sometimes only as far as Edinburgh). My other big passion is music. I play duets with the children of my close friends (I, badly on the piano, and they, brilliantly on a variety of instruments) and I am also a closet opera lover. JACK in the BOX is the first of a trilogy featuring Von Valenti.

This realization was a huge relief for him, as he never liked the idea of eating "dead animals", as he likes to say. Less than a year later, Patrick discovered the raw foods diet. What he learned convinced him to switch to a vegan, mostly raw lifestyle. His diet is now based mostly on fruits. This change helped him recover from most of his health problems. He now wants to help other people do the same.

- Goldenhood by Jessica L. Randall - 2012-12-26 21:02:22-05
I am a mother of five who runs a photography business and loves music and decorating and art but I feel the need for still more creative outlets and learning experiences, so I've thrown myself into writing as well. I've always been a book lover, and have always wanted to write, but didn't have the confidence until a story came to me with enough details that I finally believed I could do it. Writing my first book has been an awesome experience.

- The Museum of Sudden Disappearances by Thomas Davidson - 2012-12-27 15:27:58-05
Thomas Davidson's early attempts at storytelling began at St. Veronica's Grade School near Detroit. The classroom windows provided a view of the sky. Staring at sailing clouds and daydreaming sure beat staring at a nun with a pointer, and numbers or diagrams on the blackboard. Fast forward years later. He writes at a desk by a window, and stares at clouds. Everything has changed. Nothing has changed. His head is still in the clouds. He is the author of THE MUSEUM OF SUDDEN DISAPPEARANCES (Libboo Edition, 2012), a thriller with humor. His nonfiction has appeared in The Boston Phoenix, and is excerpted in the national bestseller Missing Beauty by Teresa Carpenter, a Pulitzer Prize-winning crime reporter. - C’est la Vie (Raja Williams Series) by Jack Thompson - 2012-12-27 17:08:36-05
Jack Thompson is a professional writer, finding voices in a number of different genres. So far he has written a wide variety, including children's stories, fairy tales, science fiction, paranormal romance, political thrillers and mystery detective stories. He's even written a book of poetry. As an avid reader he has enjoyed an even wider variety from classic Greek literature to modern horror. According to Jack, whether reading or writing, what makes a story great is how well it communicates to the reader. Whether presenting him with a hero he wishes he could be or a villain he chooses to hate, the characters must relate to the reader on a personal level. A reader will leave a good story in an improved condition. He may have learned something new about the world or himself, or simply been well entertained. That's why Jack writes.

- The Harvest - 2012-12-27 17:14:44-05
Born and raised in L.A., it didn’t take much to convince my wife and I to leave the smog, traffic and dead bolts of Southern California and head for a new life in The Big Sky Country — Montana. We were a little concerned when we first arrived in Billings and saw a pickup with a rifle in the back window and a bumper sticker that read … Keep Montana Beautiful Shoot an Out-of-Stater Fortunately we haven’t had to use our finely honed bullet-dodging skills. Instead we found Montana to be filled with great people and awesome scenery. Montana has been and continues to be a great adventure for us. God has blessed us in many ways — six beautiful children and many wonderful friends. It’s also a great place to be a writer. But I don’t recommend it for anyone else. Stay where you are in your concrete jungles. Suck in that air that you can see before you breathe. Buy deadbolts for your doors. Maybe even pick up a guard dog. Remember, if you come up here, I know a guy in Billings …

- Everything Zing: Winter by Grant Stone - 2012-12-27 17:17:19-05
Like most of his generation, Grant Stone blames his parents. In this case, that's a very good thing. His father was an English teacher, and his mother taught 2nd grade, so his profession as the author of "Everything Zing" shouldn't come as a surprise... even though it's taken almost four decades to realize. More importantly, his parents took their three sons (Grant being the oldest) on endless summer vacations. Camping all across America as a kid... is it any wonder he caught an unquenchable case of wanderlust? Grant graduated with a triple Business degree (Accounting, Marketing & Management), but his career has always focused on writing and exploration. For over a decade, he's worked as the Editor on Crystal Cruises' luxury vessels, traveling to hundreds of destinations in over 145 countries. At the mention of "Everything Zing," Grant will probably grow an irrepressible grin. At this point, he's the only one who truly knows everything Zing because he's written Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall. He's keeping the secrets, but he can't wait to share the entire series.

- Seven Strange Years: Real Letters – Strange Stories. - 2012-12-27 17:35:39-05
R.j Ruud is a criminal. He’s a felon. He had a record before he even hit puberty. A horrible student, college was never considered. He was running from the law by twenty-one, fleeing the cold Minnesota country for the bustling city of Phoenix. But the heat closed in long before summer. Hiding in the mountains of Colorado kept him under the radar for a few years. He even managed to work his way into a good career at a ski resort — ending abruptly with a lawsuit. He was hiding out at his father’s house in Northern Minnesota when the cops finally hauled him away in handcuffs. R.j was fairly law abiding for the next seven years — probation and incarceration are the only explanation. He took a few classes. He wrote a few screenplays. He produced two feature films and dozens of music videos with a production company in Minneapolis. He built a website to display the strange stories from his old notebooks. And then he fled Minnesota for the mountains of Colorado as soon he was released from probation. A good for nothing, ski-bum, slacker. But seriously, I’m a writer. Everything else is research.

- Finding Tina 1 - 2012-12-27 19:38:33-05
Twenty-two years ago, my passion for writing was sparked by a friend whose heart had been cruelly torn to shreds. Furious with how she'd been treated so callously, I pounded out my first short story, "The Trouble with Women" in about two hours. Although I never published it for my own reasons, I surprised myself that day. I'd written my first erotic horror short at the tender age of 20 and I absolutely fell in love with the empowerment of turning a real-life trauma into a fictional victory. From that day forward, I wrote many stories that I kept to myself, mostly children's novels. My dream was to publish and illustrate my own book one day, start to finish, but writing kids books just wasn't quite filling the void I felt- for at heart, I've always been a fan of thrillers and horror, and I also have an extraordinarily vivid imagination when it comes to under the covers. My books are a little deeper than just steamy encounters, for I cannot resist the lure of a dark romantic story with a delicious twist to it. Blame it on all those times I read "Night Shift" by Stephen King, my secret literary love affair with Dean R. Koontz, my admiration for Anne Rice's dark streak. My biography includes a long work history of graphic design, sign-making, tattoo flash design, murals and art commissions, and three art-based businesses since 2003.

Being exposed to such a vast variety of cultures and socioeconomic groups has enabled him to develop a unique perspective on a large variety of issues. This diversity can be seen in all of his creative endeavors. He has been a pastor since 1981 having spent several years in Louisiana where he met Roger. - Lantamyra A Tapestry of Fantasy - 2012-12-27 19:39:52-05
Becoming an author began with a dream I had of a lengthy conversation with a dragon; the dream ended with the image of a grandmother and adult granddaughter being carried by the dragon through a doorway in the sky to a magical world. A few days after the dream, my daughters and granddaughters came to spend Mother's Day with me. After dinner, I shared the story of the dream and told them that it would be fun to write a fantasy and create a world that people could escape to when life on Earth became too overwhelming. Everyone agreed. Later that night, the first pages were written. I have been an avid reader of classic novels, as well as contemporary, and I enjoy reading fantasy and good sci-fi (by good, I mean where the author has researched the science to support the scientific concepts). Since this would be my first serious attempt at writing, I wanted a light-hearted novel. If I was going to devote a lot of time inside the storyworld, I wanted to enjoy it. The women would be strong and intelligent, the men handsome and well-mannered (it's a fantasy, remember) and the dragons would be intelligent and cultured. I also wanted a story that would appeal to sci-fi fans with scientific concepts that would intrigue. For the next seven years, I spent the majority of my time traveling between Earth and that magical world. I felt that there was a magical symmetry in publishing the book in the Chinese Year of the Dragon, after all, some of my dragons were created in likeness and with respect to Chinese dragons. For my book cover, I created a dreamscape of Lantamyra on canvas so that the reader could see some of the important elements of the story. As a child (who never quite grew up) I spent a lot of time creating imaginary worlds in my mind, but never had the urge to write them down, until now, hence Lantamyra.

Curiosity may have killed that feline fur ball, but she or him learned a lot before exiting number nine. I too have been curious, wondering why we, I or they acted this way, looked or did it that way or were otherwise human. That curiosity, and forty years of inner work, has lead to some very interesting answers. Besides curious, I am also a writer who began with a column in the San Jose Mercury News, nationally syndicated. So, from the North West coast of the U.S., I submit these curious jottings of curiosity to be browsed by those who will hopefully find them entertaining and more than a little helpful.

- Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents - 2012-12-27 20:22:23-05
Born in Duluth, Minnesota, Marty Essen developed a love of animals at an early age. When he was eight years old, his first "pet," a black widow spider, gave birth to hundreds of babies, which promptly crawled onto his hands when he opened the jar to feed them. He prudently traded his spiders for a horned toad. Marty's dream of an animal-oriented career became sidetracked at the age of thirteen, when he volunteered to answer request lines at a radio station. That position led to a job as a radio announcer, which in turn led him to become the owner of a Minneapolis-based talent management agency. In 1990, Gig Magazine contracted Marty for his first professional writing work--a series of feature articles on the music business. Eventually Marty moved to Montana to launch an independent local telephone company. In 2001, while being interviewed for a story about his telephone company, Marty mentioned to the reporter that he was heading to the Amazon rainforest. The reporter invited him to write a story about his adventures. Marty's Amazon story ran as a feature article in two Montana newspapers. The Amazon story, and a second story about a trip to Australia, were so well received that he decided to expand his travels to all seven continents. While traveling the world, in search of rare and interesting wildlife, Marty was stung by one of the world's most venomous insects, bitten by a poisonous snake, surrounded by wolves, attacked by a hippo--and had the time of his life! He chronicled his unique adventures in his first book, Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents. Cool Creatures, Hot Planet has won three first-place awards for travel/essay writing: the 2007 Benjamin Franklin Award, the 2007 National Indie Excellence Book Award, and the Best Books 2006 Book Award. It also won bronze metals in the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards and the IPPY Awards. Additionally, Cool Creatures, Hot Planet took first place in the Animals category at the 2009 Green Book Festival in Los Angeles, and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune named it a Top-10 Green Book. In late 2007, building on the momentum from his book, Marty began traveling the United States with his seven continents digital slide show, Around the World in 90 Minutes. Marty's high-energy show takes his audience on an unforgettable worldwide adventure, packed with rare and interesting wildlife. It's the type of show where the audience has fun laughing at the stories, oohing and aahing at the photos, and then, when it's all done, they realize just how much they've learned. In November 2008, Marty Essen became APCA's (the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities) #1 booked college speaker, and he has remained at #1 for an amazing 40 out of the past 50 months. He was also a Campus Activities Magazine "Hot Speaker" pick for 2011.

Ben Brown was born in Reading, England. He struggled through school academically. Diagnosed with dyslexia meant being removed from class to attend ‘remedial” lessons. Ben did not enjoy reading and writing, and left school early to work with his father as a builder. It wasn’t until his mid-twenties that Ben persisted in teaching himself to read — and finally read his first novel. Ben emigrated to Perth, Western Australia in 1990 where he now lives with his wife Michelle and two teenage children, Chelsea and Zac. He planned his first novel each day while working as a bricklayer, to pass the hours. His love of scientific facts, futuristic possibilities, and fast-paced action infects his plots and writing style.

Monda West is a mother, and a dedicated wife to a loving husband. She has spent years studying human interactions, specifically with regard to human sexuality. She has dedicated herself, and given an amazing amount of time researching and comparing statistics that are in regard to what makes a happy marriage, or an enriching sexual life. After the many hours spent studying about why we do the things we do as sexual beings, she came to the assumption that we are all unique, and each one of us has our own fantasies and ideas on what arouses our minds and bodies. Monda has also taken many courses in psychology, and after following through with numerous interactions among couples, she has come to one logical conclusion about sexuality and what each individual attitude is towards it. Her opinion is that it is up to the individual to make that effort to create a satisfying and enjoyable sexual life for him or herself. Still, she also understands that some individuals, or couples are unable to come up with new ideas on their own. So, based on this, she took interest in one other course on human sexual interactions to try and help others understand their sexual relationships more fluidly. This particular course has had a huge impact on her, opening up her own mind to new and incredible possibilities in her own intimate life with her husband.

- H.E.R.O. – Metamorphosis - 2012-12-28 01:29:23-05
Born in 1970, I've been interested in fantasy and science fiction since perhaps the age of 10. I believe my love of medieval knights came about when my father built a wooden shield and sword for me to use in elementary school for some event. Through my school years I read hundreds (or thousands? - it's hard to recall at this point) of fantasy and science fiction novels. Comic books and super heroes came a bit later, although I recall seeing the Christopher Reeve Superman movies at a very young age (and loving them). Since my later teens I believe I've watched nearly every major fantasy, science fiction, and super-hero movie that has come out. I still love reading fantasy and science fiction, although I wish there were more novels based on superheroes. This is something that drove me to create my own supers universe and heroes in written form. I love supers, but I've always wanted more character depth than a comic book can provide. (Not to mention the immense length of time it takes for a comic series to do a story is just plain too long to me.) Writing is a hobby for me, I'm a full-time computer programmer and systems administrator for a small company. Fortunately the skills I've learned allow me to work with 3D programs to render the characters (and covers) for my books. My hope is to put out a novel or two a year, time allowing. At this point I'd like to grow the H.E.R.O. Universe with more novels, as well as start a fantasy series at some point.

She spends much of her time with her best friends, Andrew, Freddie, Talic, and Gogindy, protecting them from dragons, and other types of nasty monsters.

About the Author Steve Reynolds is a writer, poet, award-winning photographer, bon vivant, and tattoo historian whose dedication to the art of tattoo has taken him around the world. Born in 1965 outside of Bogota, Colombia, to an industrialist father and socialist mother, Mr. Reynolds’s early childhood in a midscale Boston suburb was one of relative privilege and leisure. Upon earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Central Florida, young “Stevie Pops” (as his close friends called him) ignored the pleas of his parents to take over the family haberdashery and instead became a freelance vagabond. In 1990, at age twenty-five, a chance meeting with a local tattoo artist sparked a love affair with the craft that continues to this day. A black-and-white photographic exhibit, Interstate Rest Stops, was displayed at Philadelphia’s Burney Museum of Art for a record nine months. His one-man off-Broadway show Tattoo/Tat-Me won him the prestigious Stage Left Award and a lunch date with Stanley Tucci. A book of poetry, titled I’m Smarter than You: Poems of Love, is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2017.

- Cannon Fodder by Olga Núñez Miret - 2012-12-28 02:21:13-05
Olga Núñez Miret is from Barcelona but has lived in the UK for over 20 years. She is a doctor and her day job is as a Forensic Psychiatrist (not exactly like the profilers in the movies, or anything to do with CSI either), but she has also completed a degree in American Literature at the University of Sussex (including a year abroad at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts) and a a PhD on the Films of David Mamet. She was also teaching assistant whilst completing the PhD, mostly on Film courses. Always a learner, she has recently finished a Distance Learning MSc on Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Leicester. Olga has loved reading and writing since she was a child. Her father always says that even before she could read she'd always ask what any signs or writing meant. She has written a variety of things over the years: short stories (some now disappeared), novels, novellas and plays, in English, Spanish and Catalan. Some have been edited into the trash bin, but a few are still available and sitting quietly waiting for their moment in the sun. (Or an e-reader, most likely). Due to the many distractions (studies and jobs) she has never fully dedicated herself to the business of writing, but after a minor health scare she decided that there is no time like now. Carpe diem! Her main love is fiction; she has written in a variety of genres (crime, family saga, para-normal, science-fiction...) and she is currently working on a series for young adults. Apart from reading and writing, she loves the cinema, the theater (modern, classic, musicals...), fitness classes (and more recently also yoga), walking, crochet, and owls. Her main aim is not to be boring and to entertain. The first of her books to be published as e-book (October 2012) is 'The Man Who Wasn't There' also available in Spanish version: 'El hombre que nunca existió'. In December 2012 she published 3 novellas in the series 'Escaping Psychiatry'. 'Cannon Fodder' (Escaping Psychiatry Part 1), 'Teamwork' (Escaping Psychiatry Part 2), and 'Memory' (Escaping Psychiatry Part 3). The author has used her experience and insights in these three works of fiction that follow Mary, psychiatrist and writer, and her adventures.
