  8. Blood For Culture: Part 1 - 2012-12-24 14:33:33-05
Mitul Mistry has spent his whole life finding ways to communicate things that matter. Whether through visual art or fiction, fantasy or literary prose, the end goals are all the same: to evoke rich, memorable worlds and inspire thought. With a unique blend of pathos, humor, action, and artful writing, the fiction of Mitul Mistry is at once sharp, original, and meaningful. His work can be categorized in two broad realms: literary fiction and fantasy, both of which bring to life the relationship between imagined worlds and reality. Nothing reflects this better than the colossal epic 'Blood For Culture,' which spans both genres. In the modern fiction marketplace, saturated with hackneyed commercialized writing, there is little room left for originality, intellect, and risk. Authors write the same books in different incarnations, digging their golden ruts like greedy panhandlers, having little consideration for the virtues of great art and little respect for the intelligence of their audiences. In contrast, the work of Mitul Mistry stands tall as smart, innovative, and heartfelt. Rich with artistry and passion, this is so much more than fiction. This is blood.

Both having disabilities makes life a bit of a challenge, but every challenge met has its own reward. Having already lived a full and interesting life, the couple are happy reading a good book, as well as writing one. 23. Unexpected Gifts - 2012-12-24 17:52:05-05
In no particular order, I am: a writer, a mother of twins, a swimmer, a wife, a volunteer, a runner, a friend, a triathlete, a daughter, a sister, a Brownie leader (recently retired), an auntie, a cyclist, employee and... I'm trying to do it all and have it all because nobody said I couldn't. And even if they did, I probably wouldn't listen because I'm too busy. I've been writing in one form or another since elementary school but although I always knew I wanted to be a writer when I grew up, instead I earned university degrees in Marketing and Psychology and writing got put on the back burner. After my twins were born I was buried in diaper changes, middle of the night feedings and mountains of laundry, so obviously it seemed like a logical time to start writing again. I guess it took me while to grow up. I turned to non-fiction and became a regular contributor to local parenting magazines, published in four Chicken Soup for the Soul anthologies, and a compilation by Seal Press. It wasn't until 2005 that I tried my hand at writing fiction and wrote my first novel (at least since I was a kid). It's buried on my hard drive where it should be! And I just keep writing them. Nothing Stays In Vegas was the first novel that I've made available. Besides my novels, you can read my work in: Chicken Soup for the Brother and Sisters' Soul Chicken Soup for the Runner's Soul Chicken Soup for the Beach Lover's Soul Chicken Soup: Christmas Magic Chicken Soup: Hooked on Hockey How to Put a Car Seat on a Camel

  34. When I Fall in Love by Clint Morey - 2012-12-24 19:03:22-05
Born and raised in L.A., it didn’t take much to convince my wife and I to leave the smog, traffic and dead bolts of Southern California and head for a new life in The Big Sky Country — Montana. We were a little concerned when we first arrived in Billings and saw a pickup with a rifle in the back window and a bumper sticker that read … Keep Montana Beautiful Shoot an Out-of-Stater Fortunately we haven’t had to use our finely honed bullet-dodging skills. Instead we found Montana to be filled with great people and awesome scenery. Montana has been and continues to be a great adventure for us. God has blessed us in many ways — six beautiful children and many wonderful friends. It’s also a great place to be a writer. But I don’t recommend it for anyone else. Stay where you are in your concrete jungles. Suck in that air that you can see before you breathe. Buy deadbolts for your doors. Maybe even pick up a guard dog. Remember, if you come up here, I know a guy in Billings …

  50. Sally Singletary’s Curiosity - 2012-12-24 22:37:31-05
Since I was five years old, my dream was to be a writer. I never thought I could write anything more than a grocery list, but I've managed to put together enough words to make a novel. In fact, what was once a short story I wrote in High School, has now blossomed into three interconnected series of books. The first of these is Sally Singletary's Curiosity, receiving rave reviews from early readers! I've worked in education for over 15 years and my favorite part of my job is teaching writing. In Special Education it's sometimes difficult to get a child who has a great deal of difficulty with writing to compose a story. Recent advances in technology, along with some good old fashioned tried and true methods, have given these students a chance to express themselves in a way they never could before. It's exciting to see kids who no one thought could ever compose a story, write something that is beautiful and insightful. My challenge to you. Never underestimate a person's potential to do things you never thought they could. I never thought I could become a writer and, while it's way too early to guage my success, the fact that I was able to complete a novel at all still amazes me. We should all know our limitations, but don't be afraid to test them every once in a while. A PROMISE TO MY READERS: I will never use paid review sites or fake reviews, only real reviews from real people.

The trailer can be found from my website at www.NightWriter93.com or directly at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxSkqqaD-2Q Bob Kat became active in 2012 with two projects published, starting with the mainstream novel, Life’s What Happens, a fictionalized treatment of the 1969 to early 1970 anti-war movement as it played out at Kent State University. Bob Wernly was there, and the characters and thoughtful telling of the story provides a fascinating insight into the era. The reviews have been amazing. The direct link to the trailer is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQBnqNNNHUE&feature=plcp Bob and Kathy have decided to take their newly launched co-writing career in a different direction, writing for young adults with stories drawn from real-life of teen suicide, bullying, runaways, abuse and drugs. They hope to counteract the caustic nature of television and film content and help this age group maintain a positive healthy outlook as they mature into their twenties. The series website is www.cuul8rseries.com. Book #1, OMG was published in eBook and paperback in time for Christmas. No zombies or vampires were killed in the making of the series!

  56. Some Are Sicker Than Others by Andrew Seaward - 2012-12-25 01:14:43-05
Name a hospital in Pennsylvania, I’ve been there. A rehab in Texas, I’ve stayed there. I’ve been strapped down to hospital beds, thrown into drunk tanks, and locked in padded rooms no bigger than a broom closet. I’ve woken up on railroad tracks, passed out on park benches, I even drank a bottle of cologne once because I couldn't make it to the liquor store before closing time. And for what? A moment of numbness, a flicker of tranquility? No. I realize now, that the reason I drank was because I was too afraid to admit who I really was. I’m an artist. A storyteller. A writer. An author. It took me a long time to finally admit this, and now that I have, I won't stop until I'm six feet under. Based on my own personal adventures in addiction and recovery, my debut novel, SOME ARE SICKER THAN OTHERS, takes you on a hellish journey inside the diseased mind of the addict. From a codependent alcoholic wracked by an obsession to drink himself to death...to a delusional high school volleyball coach with a dependency on crack…the characters in my novel are not just fiction, they are amalgamations of the people I met on my journey. Tragically flawed yet desperately hopeful, this cast of unlikely heroes will challenge your preconceived notions of what it means to be an addict. Some of you will laugh, some of you will cry, others may see themselves in the characters’ lives. Either way, I think you're going to enjoy the story, because, if there's one thing an addict isn't...it's boring.

  64. OUTSIDE – a post-apocalyptic novel - 2012-12-25 13:25:13-05
Before kids, I was a singer songwriter signed to Universal Music. But now I’m now a mother of two noisy boys and so writing novels fits in perfectly with my life. A typical day is taking the kids to school, doing an hour or so of online promo (while trying not to get sucked in to the chat) and then sitting down with a coffee to write. I specialise mainly in teen fiction. I write the kinds of books I love to read - gripping young adult adventures with a sprinkling of romance and a big dose of danger. I love to spend time outdoors with my family. We live a few minutes from the beach and quite close to the forest. A long walk always makes me feel good, especially if there’s a cup of tea and a piece of cake at the end of it.

Tim especially enjoys being a husband to Olive and father to Alena. Olive is an artsy optimist who grew up as an only child in Toronto and spent a couple years in China before settling in Vancouver. Her favourite place in the whole wide world is her home, partly because she gets to share it with her husband, Tim and daughter, Alena. A contemplative at heart, she aspires to be a conduit of grace, rest and beauty in this hurried and chaotic world.

  72. Deadly Illusions by Chester D. Campbell - 2012-12-25 20:31:46-05
I got bitten by the writing bug when I started work as a newspaper reporter while a journalism student at the University of Tennessee. That was more than 60 years ago. Since then I've worked as a freelance writer, a magazine editor, a political speechwriter, an advertising copywriter, a public relations writer and an association manager. The second, DESIGNED TO KILL (2004), is set around Pensacola, FL, and the third, DEADLY ILLUSIONS (2005), wanders about Nashville. The fourth, titled THE MARATHON MURDERS (2008), involves the long-defunct Marathon Motor Works in Nashville, and the fifth is A SPORTING MURDER (2010), dealing with professional sports in Nashville. My second mystery series follows the adventures of Nashville PI Sid Chance. The first book, titled THE SUREST POISON (2009), deals with a toxic chemical spill in a suburban county, the second, THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE MURDEROUS (2011), involves Medicare fraud, drug dealing, bad cops, and a ruthless hit man.

After many long years enjoying the forest, friends and food the East Bay had to offer, Zack moved to Los Angeles to attend USC's School of Cinematic Arts then began working in the film industry for Pixar Animation Studios and The Jim Henson Company. With the creative genius of his long-time friend, the two directors founded their own animation company known curiously as Remochoso and created "Dick Figures", the highest viewed and rated animated web series on YouTube with over 135 million views and growing. At night, however, Zack always wrote novels. Finally, his first novel, The Success of Suexliegh, has come to fruition after many late night bottles of wine and meetings with helpful scoundrels. 82. Eyes Behind Belligerence - 2012-12-25 21:42:21-05
I am fortunate to have been trained by one the top ten writing teachers in the US, the late Leonard Bishop, and author of 'Dare to be a Great Writer.' I owe my love of writing to him. When I had graduated Kansas State, I wrote historical book reviews for The Sunflower Press about the Japanese-Americans. In addition to writing, I draw, paint, create graphic design, compose music, and am an amateur photographer. I have been writing since childhood however I do have a B.A. in History. Instead of applying a degree in creative writing, I wanted to focus on learning and understanding what motivates people of certain time periods to make them do what they did. And there are so many stories! I also wanted to learn from our mistakes and am conscious of how we’re all related to each other.

  89. The Last Stoic - 2012-12-25 23:23:58-05
Morgan Wade grew up in the farm country an hour north of Toronto. The Last Stoic, his debut novel, was edited by Helen Humphreys (award-winning author of The Reinvention of Love and Coventry). It was long-listed for the 2012 ReLit Award for Fiction. At 19, after reading Kerouac's On The Road, he and a friend set out to circumnavigate the continent, travelling from Toronto to New York City and down the eastern seaboard, living and sleeping in a temperamental Pontiac Phoenix SJ. They spent two educational weeks at Mardi Gras, working the parades as carnies, selling firecrackers and cotton candy. From New Orleans they rolled into Brownsville, Texas, Acapulco, and then on to Palm Springs, where the Phoenix finally gasped its last. The pair continued by bus to L.A. and to Vancouver. Morgan left the west coast to study literature and philosophy at McMaster and Dalhousie Universities, attaining a Master's. 96. Eating Out (Hot Lunch #1) - 2012-12-26 00:35:26-05
My Newest book just published on December 4th, called GOT FLASH? It's a compilation of flash fiction pieces. I hope you enjoy the teasers! I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I wrote my first story when I was in seventh grade--A first person account of an entire summer. I went through a massive teen angst poetry phase, and I have notebooks and binders filled with prose. Over a year ago, Ceithin and Aurelia showed up in my head. They yapped incessantly, demanding I sit and tell their story. After a month or two of being woken up with harsh whispers, I started writing. They haven't stopped, and in fact, brought friends. Now my head is filled with stories, scenes, snippets and crazy people. Cue Law and Order music here: dun, dun. These are their stories. I write with emotion, occasionally a temper and I let my words flow free. I dabble in paranormal, contemporary romance, erotic fiction and darker urban fantasy. Oh, and hey... I'm a Virgo.

  109. The Glimpse: A Vision of America’s Future by Grant Carrp;; - 2012-12-26 02:13:48-05
I am a husband to my vivacious wife Nikki, proud father of four gorgeous children and owner of 3 vicious Chihuahuas. I love to write. I grew up in a little town called Claude, Texas and began writing poetry when I was a preteen. My poetry was published when I was 14. I began writing professionally in 2005. I wrote website content and believe me, it was nothing special. In 2007, God placed a burden for the next generation on my heart. I began writing Christian plays to minster to the youth. Late in 2007, my wife and I started Child Refuge (www.childrefuge.org) to fight sexual abuse through awareness, prevention and empowerment. We are currently launching a movement called Wear Christ on Your Sleeve (www.WearChristOnYourSleeve.com) to empower Christian youth and young adults to proudly wear the name of Jesus and live a Christ-like life. I'm excited to see where God is taking me and vigorously writing the words He tells me to. I never imagined that God would use my writing for His glory. I'm on an exciting journey with God. It takes trust and endurance, but I'm humbled to be in this race.
  110. Perfect Puppy Training: The Complete Guide to Puppy Obedience Training & Puppy Care - 2012-12-26 03:22:19-05
Hi, I'm Mia Montagliani. I am a dog owner, dog trainer and life coach. Thanks for visiting my author's site! I have been training dogs as a hobby for over 15 years and I founded Your Dog Needs You in 2010. In this relatively short period of time I have helped more than a thousand people with my tips, blogs, articles, products and videos. I am not only a dog trainer, I am also a specialist in coaching people. This means not only do I have the know-how and experience to train dogs well, I am able to empower owners to train their own dogs; there's nothing more satisfying than seeing dog owners develop a loving and hassle-free relationship with their dogs. The secret is all about loving leadership; I am often asked how I am able to train dogs so well - I always respond "dogs love a strong leader - if you can show them whose boss in a loving way, then you'll have an obedient and loyal companion for life." I have had the privilege of working face to face with many dog and puppy owners by helping them to overcome their dogs' behavioral problems as well as enhancing their dogs' lives through obedience, health and love. I am also committed to improving the relationship between owners and their dogs. I own two Manchester Terriers, Frodo and Ziggy (you'll sometimes see them in my training videos and pictured next to my tips and articles). To you and your dog's health & happiness...
