Jaime and Raechel Faulkner are a husband and wife writing team. Together, they write fiction, including novels and short stories, although they specialize in flash fiction / short-shorts (i.e. really short stories), and modern, fun poetry. Jaime is originally from the United Kingdom, but moved to the USA several years ago where he now lives with his wife, Raechel, and their two Labrador Retrievers, a yellow one called Sunny and a black one called Midnight. Jaime has a wide range of interests, including word-based puzzles such as cryptic crosswords (both compiling them and solving them) and Scrabble, and is an avid reader, which he uses as inspiration for their off-beat stories, many of which have an unexpected twist at the end (something that his peculiar mind loves creating, thanks in part to having read Roald Dahl’s bizarre short stories as a teenager). Jaime & Raechel Faulkner's Doggies - Sunny & Midnight Raechel was born and raised in California. She has lived in both Northern and Southern CA. She prefers a warm climate with little rain or snow. She likes spending time with their hyped-up dogs as there is always something new to learn from them. Raechel loves to watch action/adventure, science fiction, crime dramas, techno-thrillers, and (good) horror movies with Jaime. She primarily listens to Electronic music, but she also likes R&B, Smooth Jazz, and Easy Listening. She is also very good at problem solving and using her strong visual skills. Raechel and Jaime love their home life, where they have plenty of quite moments to do their writing – as long as the dogs are running around outside. They’ve read many books that were lacking, so they decided to do some writing of their own and once they got started they haven’t stopped.

Because of this, I've had to learn and develop my photography skills on my own. To that end I've created a 23 volume series of photo training lessons that I've titled: "On Target Photo Training". Your photos WILL improve... guaranteed!

  47. The Courage to Surrender - 2012-12-19 19:00:24-05
This is my first book and who I was, during the times of my memoir. I was one of those baby boomers who experimented with recreational drugs in the sixties. From the country’s largest population, millions of us developed life-long addictions of alcohol and street drugs. On the outside of American Dream I was a yuppie, but I led a secret life in the corporate sub-culture. After decades in the fast lane, my family erupted into a ball of dysfunction ignited by my wife’s abandonment from her family to an IV addict in a drug den. I had to face death before I found the courage to surrender my addictions for the peace and love of sobriety. Since December 17, 2001 I have not found the need to drink or drug, nor have I found a problem or life situation that I felt alcohol or drugs would improve.

In seventh grade for a homework assignment the teacher had asked the students to write a paragraph describing a messy room, but the reader could not be directly told that the room was messy. Amethyst rushed home excited and wrote her piece. The teacher read it to the class. Then it was a poem; the teacher read it to the class. This evolved, and in eighth grade the teacher read an entire short story Amethyst wrote to her class. Amethyst left San Bruno to attend San Francisco State University, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Philosophy. Not satisfied with her education, Amethyst decided to continue on to graduate school. Amethyst enrolled at Golden Gate University School of Law. 61. The Beginning Of The End: Book Two (The T.B.O.T.E. Series) - 2012-12-19 20:01:33-05
I am Michael Edward, a husband, a father of six, a friend, and a self-proclaimed storyteller. I say storyteller because to use the word writer would be a misrepresentation, it might imply that I can write. I have always felt that my imagination was my strength and I always see everything as a movie. A lot of times when I write, its like I am sitting in a movie theater watching it on screen and I just write down what I see with the words that I know. I love to write screenplays and that bleeds into my writing style. Also, I have epilepsy, and my seizures have increased, so if they bleed into the writing I apologize. I just want to tell entertaining stories that give people a chance to escape reality for a bit. I mean no disrespect to writers. Right now I have seven stories available to read: Enter Sandman, Fearlings ONE, Fearlings TWO, Fearlings THREE, The Beginning Of The End: Book One and Book Two and then I have WHY (A storyteller's diary). I am currently working on The Beginning On The End: Book Three and Book Four and hope to have it available by the end of November, 2012. I am also always working on the sequels Enter Sandman TWO and Fearlings FOUR and will make them available as soon as they are completed. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read the sample chapters, to buy the stories, or to leave reviews. Like I said, being a husband and a father of six, I understand how valuable time is, and again, thank you.
  62. ICEHOTEL by Hanna Allen - 2012-12-19 20:02:12-05
A few years ago, I spent a night in the Icehotel in the north of Sweden, not far from the Arctic Circle. The Icehotel is built entirely of ice and snow, melting into the river in spring, and rebuilt in autumn. During the day it's a museum, and the rooms house ice statues. But at night it becomes a hotel. As I lay in my candle-lit room on an ice bed strewn with reindeer skins, staring at the velvet curtain which served as a door, it suddenly struck me that anyone could creep in as I slept. And murder me. The killer could melt into the background, face and identity hidden beneath a snowsuit and ski mask. There would be no fingerprints, no clues left behind. A murder made easy. The seeds for a novel germinated in my mind. I started writing, took some writing classes, continued writing, took some more writing classes and, after heaps of editing and rewriting, completed my book. The finished product is my debut novel, ICEHOTEL. My career has been in education. I've worked as a researcher, a maths teacher, in IT support and in information management (the last two at the University of St Andrews in Scotland). Writing now takes up most of my time, something I do in the peace and tranquility of a fishing village situated On the Edge of the Known World in Scotland. When I feel the need for excitement, I travel (sometimes only as far as Edinburgh). My other big passion is music. I play duets with the children of my close friends (I, badly on the piano, and they, brilliantly on a variety of instruments) and I am also a closet opera lover.

  66. Warm Words For Cold Weather:The Make A Toast Winter Holiday Guide - 2012-12-19 20:05:53-05
Katrin has performed Off-Broadway, recorded solo vocals for the film Waterworld, and is a certified neuro-linguistics programming practitioner. Katrin desired that her first toast would be as beautiful as the wedding it honored. Her quest to find structure for her sentiments went unfulfilled, and though that speech received much praise, she still shudders every time she thinks about it. Born dyslexic, Chris discovered story structure in childhood and eventually gained writing mastery. Chris is an Off-Broadway playwright, stand-up comic and improv performer. A former English teacher, he has taught students as diverse as a Soviet émigré rocket scientist and 12-year-old gang bangers. Chris's first best man toast was a massive success. During his second toast, he lost his place, froze and had to have the MC finish, permanently embarrassing himself. Three years later, Chris Korbel was Katrin Kern's "plus-one" for a wedding in which she was the maid of honor. Katrin's MOH duties pushed her toast preparation to the wedding weekend. Fearing an impending disaster, the two pooled their professional skills to create an authentic, moving tribute in record time. Afterwards, the bride and groom's parents asked for keepsake copies of the toast. Realizing they'd conceived a methodology applicable to more than just Katrin's one time experience, they founded their company, Make a Toast, and began consulting non-professional public speakers on a wide variety of speeches and toasts for personal milestone events. Over the last five years they've become the internet's most posted authority on toast making and special occasion speeches. They have appeared on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and have been broadcast on syndicated radio throughout the United States. This He said/ She said toast making duo believes that whatever the occasion or mood, there's a toast for it, and they can show you how to make it.

Yikes!), fire walking (taught high-ranking Moscow fire officials how to walk the coals), kayaking, scuba diving (she's in love with sharks), travel, and falling in love again and again. Living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with the love of her life and her two cats, she has now chosen to put fingers to keyboard and write - when she's not in pursuit of another adventure! The Daily Grind: College educated and life-experienced, Calinda B has worked in the world of computers and technology for a long time. My debut ebook is called HOMECOMING, a reunion romance set in a small town in Wisconsin (and features 9 cats--click on the other photos here to see Max and Gracie, my two rescued kitties!). The setting is Door County, Wisconsin, where my family used to go camping every summer. As a writer, it's really fun to choose settings where I have such fond memories. 84. The Goldenwealth Light - 2012-12-19 23:12:12-05
Scott McCloskey didn't get his first "real" computer until he was sixteen years old. He didn't have a cell phone in high school -- nobody did, as a matter of fact. The original Nintendo Entertainment System was a lot of fun, but he found he could only play for so long. In those quiet days where information didn't move so quickly, he found books. Now immersed in technology and a faster paced world, on occasion Scott still looks fondly back to the days of sipping sodas on a warm summer afternoon with a good book, amidst only the sounds of rustling leaves and birdsong. Scott hopes to recreate that feeling in his first full-length novel, The Goldenwealth Light. Other than writing, Scott's hobbies include amateur graphic manipulation, painting fantasy miniatures, gaming of all kinds (card/board/RPG/tabletop games, not gambling) and of course, reading. Yes, Scott even reads manga, and continues to maintain a truly well-crafted story is of value no matter what format it comes in. You never know what you might discover in a good book tomorrow. Scott studied Japanese history and culture in college, and studied abroad in Hirakata City, Japan near the major cities of Kyoto and Osaka. He was born near Baltimore Maryland, and currently lives in Pennsylvania with his loving wife, two adorable children, and several Russian Wolfhounds. Scott's favorite TV show is Star Trek: The Next Generation, and his favorite movie is Gettysburg. If Scott sounds like a nerd to you, well, just between you and me...he probably is. Don't tell him that, though. He might end up proud of it.

  88. Second Time Round by Jackie C Myrtle - 2012-12-19 23:43:48-05
Hi I am Jackie and I am simply delighted that your here. I am hoping that you have read all of my books or at the very least started reading them, it is so exciting for me to write them (it gives me the opportunity to dream and be creative). You will see me most mornings at my computer typing away on my next book, once I get in the creative mood I can’t stop and my poor family end up with late dinners, bless them. I have 3 wonderful children, a very patient hubby and a dog who sits beside me every day listening to me type away. He really is a cutie and comes to my rescue when I get stuck and can’t think what to write, he is there with his collar and lead and so off we go walking which is usually enough to refresh me so that when I return I am ready to write again. If you have read some of my books you know I like to write adventure with a bit of mystery thrown in, I prefer short stories because these are ideal for lunch breaks or when your waiting for an appointment. I always carry my kindle with me for such occassions as these, you know when your waiting in the doctors room or the vets or the dentist (helps to keep your mind of the sounds of those drills!) I even have a kindle reader on my computer so I can read there and my ipad also has a reader so I always have one at hand. I haven’t read a book on my phone because it is way too small for me but I have seen others reading on their phones it is simply wonderful!

If I can, I like to make each book grip you and keep you glued to the chair your sitting on as you read. Yes I have a sense of humour that my mother always said would get me into trouble one day, bless her. As my children were growing up I always liked to tell them stories at night when it was bed time – they would sing out dad tell us a story and mother would roll her eyes and head back to the kitchen for she new that the stories would have them gripping their knees hanging on every word then hearing them plead for more as I switched off the bedroom light hardly sleeping stories but that is me and my way. My children have all grown up now and while I am still waiting on grandchildren hopefully (my kids would roll their eyes every time I ask when they were coming) I needed to tell my stories to someone and so I became the author my children had always known. I really enjoy writing and as I now sit in the garden with my laptop in France I can hear the birds singing their songs and mother inside humming as she cooks up enough food to feed an army (I think she still cooks for all of the kids!). Our move from the UK to France was one I had dreamed of for years then suddenly we decided it was time and we pulled up sticks and well here we are enjoying sunshine!

  97. Night Bells by L.M. Sherwin - 2012-12-20 00:24:30-05
Sherwin has been writing since she was too young to hold a pen! Her first stories were dictated to her mother who wrote them down to preserve for posterity. As time went by, Sherwin moved on to write amusing short stories. In middle school, she wanted to tackle her first epic novel. Things kept getting more involved and, though she still has all the notes from this novel, Sherwin put it aside to pursue other story ideas. In college, she started work on a manuscript she intended to finish. After she married her high school and college sweetheart, her husband encouraged her to pursue her life-long dreams of becoming an author. He challenged her to write an hour a day. So, she did. After a year, she had written four manuscripts--three novels and one novella. This year, she published two novels. She has plans to publish another in early 2013.

  120. Love’s True Second Chance - 2012-12-20 12:44:16-05
I spent the last twenty-five years in road construction. Major back surgery in 2010 put a damper on that career. In 2009 I reunited with my high school sweetheart who tragically passed July of the same year. Her cancer returned with a vengeance. I was thoroughly crushed with her loss. It took a year before I sat down and wrote about our shared love. Since then I have written and self-published six books. Two baseball coaching manuals, two auto-biographies, a short humorous story about being a single parent, an erotic short story collection and the current novel Occupation. I currently have four books in the works. I live in the DFW area and spend my free time with my family and grandchildren.

  124. Emperor’s Hostages by Gloria Piper - 2012-12-20 12:49:17-05
When working in biology, Gloria Piper missed art. When working in art, she missed biology. It took a bout of multiple chemical sensitivities to limit her to writing. At last here was a niche in which she felt old-clothes comfortable. At last she could indulge all her interests, from art and science to nature and spirituality, from reality to fantasy. Gloria Piper is a member of Novelpro, an exclusive writers' group for serious and professional writers. She brings a lot of insight to her writing. More interested in freedom and adventure than marriage, she piled on the experiences, such as in teaching, farm work, Christian ministry, Army research and development, care taking, and teaching martial arts. Today she lives in Northern California with her husband of late years who thinks she's the most beautiful lady he's ever met and tells her a hundred times a day in a hundred ways how much he loves her. May her novels provide mini-vacations, leaving you, the reader, refreshed and uplifted.

  127. 27 Most Important Health Questions about Prostate Health: Mainstream, Complementary and Nutritional Answers - 2012-12-20 13:08:58-05
Born into the family of an eminent medical practitioner in Australia laid the foundation for Graham's interest in the human body, its function, and the many health related subjects. Most of the formative years of his life before five years of age he spent in a wheelchair due to a hip disorder. He would accompany his father to hospitals and calls and became very interested in all things of a medical nature. Although Graham had the best medical treatment available back in the 1950's for his hip, it was not able to be healed by western medicine. Surprisingly it was the Chinese medical treatment approach that eventually cured his problem. Consequently his medical awareness began at this stage and became the seed for further knowledge fertilized later in life to blossom into an insatiable thirst for an understanding of the function of the human body in health and sickness in both the western medicine and the Chinese medicine models. Graham's formal education includes the health sciences as well as Chinese medicine. He has a Ph.D in Health Sciences and degree in Chinese medicine. He began clinical practice in 1979 and has continued with specialization in Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and energy medicine. He has published books and websites, and lectured on various health topics as a result of the following influences throughout his life: *Exposure and influence as a child to Chinese healing systems involving medicine and exercise *Upbringing and influence from living in a family of western medical practitioners *Passion and interest in health and medicine *Education, study and research in both western and Chinese medicine *Ph.D. doctoral research and thesis: "Energy as the Link Between Chinese and Western Medicine" *Clinical practice as an acupuncture and energy medicine specialist in Australia, United Kingdom and Hong Kong where he has been living since the mid 1980's His aim is not only to write health books but to provide something different that is useful, practical and relevant to people seeking to understand their health challenges and who wish to participate in the improvement and maintenance of their own health and wellness.

Carolyn Moncel On Writing I started writing because I realized that it's very difficult for me not to tell a story. I come from a family of storytellers, so I've heard some sort of tale all of my life. I tell stories to my family, friends and even my clients. Even my non-fiction, business articles usually end with a moral. Short stories and novellas are my preferred genres because they allow me to describe brief moments in time and get off the page. I like to make readers think, but I also like to leave them with a bit of suspense. 134. Foretold: Betrayed By Desire by E.S. Tilton - 2012-12-20 13:18:50-05
That’s why you’re on this page, right? Or maybe you’re really here for clues about my journey. How is it that I, a perfectly ordinary person by most people’s standards, wrote a book? If that’s the case I’ll do as Tahrek did; turn the mirror in my direction and, sans the poison, ask myself: Who am I? The mirror swirls and my reflection becomes a young flat-chested girl of eleven. Large brown eyes stare out at a world turned upside down. The monster of puberty has arrived and she is bored...bored...bored. Her slightly eccentric aunt hands her The Secret Garden while racing after the pillagers of her home; seven rowdy children. Within the week her first real book has been devoured and she is back for more. This time she leaves with The Hobbit. And so begins a lifetime addiction. The mirror flickers in and out of focus as she grows up, always with a book in hand. Authors J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Andre Norton, and Anne McCaffrey have repeat performances. And yet… Who am I? The mirror swirls with pale color and a pretty twenty-one year old appears. Wounded eyes stare back at me; one abusive relationship has just ended, a new life begun. In one hand is a bag of dice and the other a paintbrush. BOC plays in the background. She believes that the world can be beautiful and is trying to make it so. A beginning of understanding has started…but she is still young…still shaky. Who am I? A gray fog swipes across the glass in a sudden rush. When it clears several years have passed. She holds a blond haired toddler in each arm and the paintbrushes have been packed away as ‘toxic’. Besides, respectable young women don’t paint, or game, or dance. They take care of the home and babies; even if they are horrid cooks and fail miserably at ‘womanly’ chores. What had been gained in self knowledge was packed away with the paintbrushes. Who am I? The mirror swirls with an abandonment of colors, almost as though it’s being painted faster than it can clear itself. Beautiful teen girls surround her now and finally she has decided to paint. And paint with passion she does; the walls, the ceilings, every piece of furniture including couches and chairs. Till, one fauxed ceiling too many, she busts her shoulder and pleasure is replaced with unending pain. Gaming has come and gone, dancing has lost its sway, and she is at loose ends. Who am I? The mirror swirls again, small bursts of color intermingle with dark showers of gray. Seven more years have come and gone. She is away from the mirror but you can see her pouring her life into helping others. She looks frustrated and satisfied at the same time, and yet her own issues haunt her. She tries a holistic treatment and suddenly…(drum roll) she can write. (Yes it really did happen that fast.) A whole new door opens before her. What she thought could only be expressed through paint is more accurately communicated via writing. The worlds within can finally come out to be shared with this world. She knows who she is. And here we stand before the mirror. It’s your turn now. Let me tip it your way… Now ask yourself. Who am I? And while you contemplate deep thoughts… My thistles still grow faster than I can pull them, my cooking is still burned eighty percent of the time, my children refuse to stay babies, my road still gets potholes, my koi still multiply like bunnies and my cat still sits on my lap, plotting to take over the keyboard one hair at a time.

  150. Christmas in Wine Country by Addison Westlake - 2012-12-20 15:47:47-05
I'm excited to share my new romantic comedy with you, "Christmas in Wine Country." It's the perfect read for this holiday season. Curl up with a glass of wine and get ready to laugh out loud! I made my debut as an author around 13 years old rewriting Sweet Valley High books. In one version Elisabeth and Jessica Wakefield were younger and living in a British orphanage. Later in my teens I launched into an unfortunately self-important Personal Reflection Phase with a lot of thought pieces, meditations on themes and poetry reflecting in sad words about sad things, sadly. My 20s ushered in an even more self-important Political Phase with a lot of angry, partially informed commentary raging against the machine, the lever operating the machine and the guy funding the production of the lever and the machine. I'm happy to say that I've now returned From Whence I Came! I'm back, baby, on the main quad of Sweet Valley High where hot guys drive hot cars and it only rains when you don't have a date for the prom. And then the sun comes out, anyway, because everything works out after all! Also, the only kinds of British orphanages now allowed near my writing are the ones where beautiful young girls with bright spirits triumph over adversity and end up marrying super well.

With over forty years experience teaching children and with five grandchildren, I'm constantly amazed by what grabs and keeps their attention. I've noticed through the years that the activities that are most likely to accomplish this are the ones that require them to actively participate. For example, when they were young, they were much more interested in doing something they could pickup, move or point to as opposed to an activity where they had to simply sit still and watch. That's where the idea for Mind Hurdles came into being. The Mind Hurdles books are INTERACTIVE, and are thus more interesting and challenging. Monique is the mother of two beautiful children and lives in a small community outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She currently works full time as an insurance agent, but her favorite jobs are mother, wife, and author. On her eighth birthday, her mother bought her a journal and said "write whatever you want, just write." And so, a love affair with words was born. She wrote poetry and short stories in high school and college, until 1993 when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. After her mother's death in 1998, deep in depression, she found herself unable to write. Nine years passed, and only on rare occasion did she attempt to write, with no luck. Finally, in 2007, under the urging of friends, she sat down and pecked out her first novel. It was raw and unpolished, but the process had been unquestionably cathartic.
