- Dire Means - 2012-10-31 20:01:13-04
Geoffrey Neil writes noir fiction laced with a social conscience. He graduated from Cal State San Bernardino with a B.A. in Communication and then spent years in an outside-sales-induced haze of professional confusion. Life's predictable challenges drove him to the keyboard where torrid personal-journal entries, pounded out late at night, led to a therapeutic obsession with writing. His first writing gig was a weekly column called "Technology Triumphs" for a Los Angeles community newspaper. In 2009 he completed his first novel, Dire Means. His second novel, Human Resources, published on November 1, 2012. He's now drafting his third novel, Wanton Disregard. During the day he runs Mollifiers, an IT consulting company in Beverly Hills, California that goes by the slogan, "Technology Anger Management".
- More Than Water: Tasty Low-Fat Beverages, with and without alcohol - 2012-10-31 21:26:08-04
Joan Holcomb used to be obese, but after a lot of hard work, reached a healthy weight and has maintained it for over 20 years. While she was losing weight, she spent a lot of time trying out various low-calorie recipes. Some weren’t so good. Some were. She has gathered the best of these recipes in her cookbooks. (Note: your taste may not be the same as Joan’s, however!)
- A Dead Red Oleander by RP Dahlke - 2012-10-31 22:49:11-04
I sort of fell into the job of running a crop-dusting business when my dad decided he’d rather go on a cruise than take another season of lazy pilots, missing flaggers, testy farmers and horrific hours. After two years at the helm, I handed him back the keys and fled to a city without any of the above. And no, I was never a crop-duster. I write about a tall, blond and beautiful ex-model turned crop-duster who, to quote Lalla Bains, says: “I’ve been married so many times they oughta revoke my license.” I wanted to give readers a peek at the not so-perfect -life of a beautiful blond. Lalla Bains is no Danielle Steele character, she’s not afraid of chipping her manicure. Scratch that, the girl doesn’t have time for a manicure what with herding a bunch of recalcitrant pilots and juggling work orders just to keep her father’s flagging business alive.

- The Vault - 2012-11-01 01:21:56-04
Writer, traveller, cyclist and gardener: I've always been a dreamer - I wrote my first 'book' while at primary school and making up stories has long been one of my favourite occupations. I was born in Southampton, England, in 1965 and grew up in a small market town called Romsey. Over the years that followed I worked as a journalist, PR consultant, gardener and, most recently, teaching English in Portugal. My first novel - The Tale Of Findo Gask - was published in 2006 after winning the national final of a UK competition to discover new authors. I've also written several other books and published a collection of short stories. Please visit my blog - at http://hdthomas.wordpress.com - for more information about me and my books, as well as some of my thoughts on being a writer and the creative process. You can also find me on Facebook - look for 'Huw Thomas author'. My latest novel - murder mystery The Vault - was published in March in aid of the disaster relief charity ShelterBox http://www.shelterbox.org (I've been involved with this charity for a few years - I was previously in charge of PR & Fundraising at its UK HQ and in 2010-11 my wife and I undertook a 10,000-mile tandem bike ride in aid of ShelterBox!) My next novel - Pagan's Sphinx - should be released late in 2012. This one's being published under the pen name William Webster as it's a bit different from my other books. Pagan's Sphinx is an adventure story set in North Africa involving the hunt for a lost statue that may be connected with the lost civilisation of Atlantis. An extract from Pagan's Sphinx can be downloaded from my blog - http://hdthomas.wordpress.com/novels/pagans-sphinx/ I'm always happy to hear from readers - contact me via the blog or Facebook.
- The Reunion: Emma’s Vacation by Angelina Rose - 2012-11-01 03:29:52-04
According to her family Angelina Rose was a sweet child … maybe a little shy. She often spent a lot of time making up stories rather than running around and playing outside with her brother and sister. She won several writing competitions and used the prizes to help her single mother pay the bills. Like Emma, Claire, Shelby and Ashley from the The Starting Over Series, Angelina Rose is a Nurse. At a recent reunion of her graduating class she could not help but notice how the same girls would group together and laugh, chat and even shed some tears over their lives since graduating. Many of the girls had divorced … so Angelina thought “what if a group of the nurses came up with a plan to meet in two years and have a new love story to share?” Then this first story in the series was born! Angelina lives in the mountains with her husband, her two poodles and two bombay cats.

Anthony M. Briggs, Jr. is a patent attorney, musician and author of short stories and young adult fiction with a sci-fi/fantasy slant. He appreciates nature, but doesn't hug trees. - Right Behind You by Shaun Tennant - 2012-11-01 10:06:19-04
I'm Shaun Tennant, a young Canadian writer working mostly in genre fiction. I studied screenwriting and I've written screenplays for shorts and features before moving back to short stories and novels. I like to play with people's expectations in genre stories. I think there are many well-worn paths you can take in any story, and sometimes it's nice to take a shortcut, blaze your trail, and occasionally reach surprising destinations.
- Covert Dreams - 2012-11-01 13:31:25-04
I have resided in and have visited many places in the world, all of which have contributed in some way to my own published writing. I have literally traveled throughout the world, on numerous occasions. I have lived in Finland, Germany, Thailand, Saudi Arabia (where COVERT DREAMS is set), and the U.S. Virgin Islands (where DEADLY EYES is set). I gained the wanderlust to see the world, to experience other cultures, at an early age, and this desire has never left me. If anything, it has only gained in intensity as I have aged. I try to travel internationally at least once a year. In the interim, I spend lots of time traveling around both my home state of California and other nearby states. I spent my early years in the small town of Lone Pine, California, the home of almost every western movie, in addition to a wide variety of other genres, made in the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's. In fact, Hollywood still films parts of big-time movies there today. My dad, the town's lifeguard at the time, personally knew John Wayne, Lloyd Bridges, and Lee Marvin, all of whom came to the town's pool, the Memorial Plunge, at times to cool off after a hectic day of working in the sun. I was even an extra in a movie filmed there in 1957, MONOLITH MONSTERS, a B-cult favorite even today. I was ten years old at the time. Even though I resided in a small town hours from the big city, I was exposed to the excitement of action and heroes at a formative age, and, thus, my interest in writing novels of suspense such as COVERT DREAMS and DEADLY EYES was born. As a recent retiree from a forty-year career as a professor of writing, I now live in Southern California wine country with my wife, Kitty, and our two other cats.
