  1. Mark Taylor: Genesis - 2012-10-28 21:06:44-04
I know a lot of these are written in third person, but that just feels too unnatural for me so I’m going to be a rebel and write this in first person. I’m M.P. McDonald, and I live in a small town in Wisconsin with my family, just a stone’s throw from a beautiful lake, and literally spitting distance to a river on the other side. We love the peace and quiet and being able to go down to the beach on a hot summer day for a quick swim. Chicago and Milwaukee are just an hour’s drive away in either direction, so we are never far from the excitement of a big city. As you can tell from my books’ setting, I love Chicago. One of my sons used to do commercials and modeling in the 90s, so we spent many an afternoon driving to auditions and look-sees there. Mark Taylor’s studio/loft is based in part, on the many cool photography studios we encountered during his years in ‘showbiz’. When I’m not writing, I work as a respiratory therapist at a small hospital that is part of a large hospital system in eastern Wisconsin.

  6. A Dodge, a Twist, and a Tobacconist by Sophronia Belle Lyon - 2012-10-28 22:16:07-04
Sophronia Belle Lyon grew up in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York, reading HG Welles, Jules Verne and other classics. She dressed up and acted out scenes with friends much like Louisa May Alcott's beloved "Little Women," and got to be a cauldron spirit in Macbeth in fourth grade. She traveled to Italy by way of Iceland and Luxembourg. She's taken apart her share of clocks to study the gearworks and feels well-prepared to enter the Steampunk genre. Hundreds of cat friends informed her about Bagheera's attitudes and manners. Oliver Twist's oblivious, eccentric habits came from the Science-absorbed men in her life, and her love for weapons translated into the well-armed members of the Alexander Legacy Company. She travels widely, shoots when she can, collects swords and knives, but is so far too shy to be photographed.
  7. Mr. Snowman’s Kiss: Six Short Stories of Love, Life, and Murder by Gracie O’Neil - 2012-10-28 22:17:39-04
Gracie was born in London, and raised and educated in New Zealand. She lives in a state of cheerful chaos with her husband and pets; a German Shepherd who snores like a buzz saw, and a cat who ignores birds but steals their bread. She first began writing in earnest in 1998, holed up in an apartment in Marietta, GA, while her husband, a field engineer, traveled the United States for fifteen days a month. She started her second manuscript in a hotel in San Diego, where she discovered the joys of room service—something she fully intends to exploit again one day. She has worked as an elementary school teacher, counselor, office manager, technical help-desk operator, editor of a local newspaper, and technical documentation writer in the electronics industry. A former VP of RWNZ, she spent 2011 as part of the editorial team responsible for Romance Writers of New Zealand’s monthly magazine, Heart To Heart. Her work has won the Romance Writers of New Zealand Clendon Readers' Choice Award, and the Mainstream with Romantic Elements Category NTRW Great Expectations Competition.
  8. Southern Strife - 2012-10-28 22:23:42-04
I started writing when I was five, and won a short story contest in Jack and Jill Magazine when I was eight. At ten, my mother bought me my own typewriter - a manual one! (Wow, this really dates me, doesn't it??) I have written on and off most of my life, and most of my jobs have involved writing in one form or another. I also worked as an editor for audio books for six years, which taught me a great deal. "A Touch of Murder" was my first published novel, and is the first in the Samantha Kern series. My second book, "The Promised Land" isn't a mystery, but rather deals with an adolescent's coming of age in the deep South during 1966-67. It was published in Jan. 2012. I am currently working on 2 more Samantha Kern novels, after which I plan to write a supernatural thriller. Now that I've gotten my bio out of the way, I'd like to tell you a little bit more about Samantha Kern, the main character in "A Touch of Murder," and a bit more about Joy Bradford, the main character in "Southern Strife."

  15. Bitnapped - 2012-10-29 00:56:41-04
For me, books have always been a place of wonder, mystery, and escape. During childhood, my parents were constantly after me to get my nose out of some book or other. Rather than being my downfall as they feared, that love of reading led me to a career as a technical writer. However, writing software manuals leaves little opportunity for embellishment and imagination. As a respite, I began writing short stories that I shared with family and friends. Surprisingly, they liked them--or at least said they did. That encouragement egged me on to try more ambitious projects. My first short novel, "Bitnapped", is set at a high tech company populated with personalities drawn from the brilliant and engaging people I've worked with over the years.
