  8. Passion is a Harsh Taskmaster - 2012-10-05 18:11:09-04
I grew up in Louisville, KY, and received a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville in 1978. After graduation, I worked as an engineer for several years, but shifted to doing computer-related work when personal computers became popular in the early 1980’s. As part of my job, I authored or co-authored a number of internal company reports as well as many papers presented at conferences. Apart from my job, I have written almost 40 articles for computer magazines and was a regular columnist for a computer journal for two years. Additionally, I have written over a dozen philosophical articles, three of which were published in a philosophy journal. I also wrote and published a humorous philosophy book, “Beginnings to Endings: Philosophical Ramblings for Avoiding Global Destruction,” which is available in paperback and Kindle formats. I have authored a number of poems, some of which have been published, and I have also authored three unpublished fictional short stories. Most of these writings can be viewed at my Web site, http://www.rcfinch.com . “Passion is a Harsh Taskmaster” is my first fiction novel.

  11. How To Boost Your Weight Loss & Your Health with… Apple Cider Vinegar by Shannon C. Clark - 2012-10-05 23:39:17-04
I was born in California, moved to Saudi Arabia at the age of seven, went to a boarding arts school in Michigan my last three years of high school and now live once more in California. As a kid, my diet was like most Americans; even in Saudi there was an attempt to emulate the American lifestyle as much as possible. My parents didn't take diet and nutrition seriously and so I never learned either. My favorite breakfast growing up in Saudi was white toast with melted butter and chocolate milk powder sprinkled on top of that - chased by a chocolate bar and chocolate milk. Then I would go three or four days without any food in order to fit into a pair of jeans or a dress for some occasion. Everyone else did it so I never questioned it. Now I'm in my 40's and have been challenged by Obesity, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Chemical Sensitivity. Having had one or more of these issues since 1994 was only inconvenient most of the time, but in late 2007, the Fibromyalgia became suddenly severe, flaring up and staying that way. In my search for being well again, I had taken several medications that were not effective and in fact, made my symptoms worse! After a year of M.D.s prescribing meds and doing nothing else, I had finally found out that in my case, the Fibromyalgia was being caused by Candidiasis and Leaky Gut Syndrome. I've been working with my Chiropractor/Holistic Health Practitioner to use a natural and holistic approach to healing through diet, supplementation and cleansing. So far, I am making great headway in all of these issues - The Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue are gone, the Chemical sensitivity is much less of an annoyance, and my obesity is steadily being taken care of, little by little (so far, I've lost @40% of the weight I need to lose - all without drugs or surgery of any kind). Since I have been out of work, I've been working hard at researching the role that food plays on our health. Beyond the obvious "don't eat junk food" and "get plenty of fruits and veggies", I have also done a lot of self experimentation with super-foods, various diet programs, and general "common sense" approaches. (Which don't always work for everyone!) I am not a doctor, nurse, nutritionist, etc. If you require a bunch of letters following someone's name in order to find them credible, then my books are not for you. Like anyone else, I am on a continuing journey, and am sharing with you what I've learned so far by writing about my discoveries to date.

  14. The History of the Dochani (Vol. 1) - 2012-10-06 13:56:09-04
Born in Ontario, Canada. Is a 4th Degree Member of Knights of Columbus. Reads Fantasy, Scifi, Philosophy, War Strategy Books like Sun Tzu and Dr. Ha Ha Lung, and history. Writes Fantasy and Scifi mostly, but adds other genres in there to round out the characters in his stories. Prefers to write in first person with a female Protagonist. Right now the author writes about immortality, not what is seen as immortality within other books for example vampires that die to become a vampire and then you kill them with a stake now that is not immortality as there is a chance for death. True immortality is that which death has no power over. True it is not real but neither are vampires which are dead and moving around in stories and turn others into vampires. Immortality is and should be the opposite of death and until now that is all that anyone has ever gotten, death. Look at the author's writing as a study in immortality.

  16. Binks: The Bizarre Account of Zachary Peter Jarrett - 2012-10-06 14:00:02-04
In the past I have excelled at poetry: I received an honorable mention in the 2001 Writers Eye contest, I was the winner of the 2004 Second Street Gallery Young Writers competition, I was published in the 21st edition of an anthology called the Poet’s Domain in 2005, and more recently, in 2009, I was a finalist in the First Amendment Writes poetry and songwriting competition in Charlottesville Virginia which aired on local television. Renowned author Rita Mae Brown presided over this contest as one of the judges and though she wasn’t present for the award ceremony she said of my poem in her notes that my entry, Syllabic Waffles, had “Real internal rhythm married to condensed venom”. My hope is that I have used the skills I’ve learned in poetry to be an effective writer of prose, specifically the memoir that I am putting before you.
