  10. FOR ANIMAL LOVERS - 2012-09-20 03:52:17-04
I was born November 13th, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois. I'm a Scorpio with Scorpio rising, for those who are astrologically-inclined. People often describe me as "intense." I have an older brother, Dave, and the two of us were raised by my mom, a single parent, moving often. I'm not sure if it's because I'm part Hungarian gypsy, but the moving trend continued as an adult, with stop offs in both Arizona and New Mexico. At the moment, I'm back in Chicagoland, living in the suburbs with my husband and cat. I have always wanted to be a writer. I've taken courses online at Writer's Online University, read lots of Writer's Digest books on technique, and subscribe to Writer's Digest magazine. And, of course, I love to read. Yet I never devoted enough time to my passion. I would always get around to writing "someday." When the company I worked for closed its doors, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to write my first novel. While working on the second draft, I was meditating and got an idea: why not put a few short stories together as an e-book and share them with everyone--for fun, and to help raise money for animals. 10% of the book's sale price is donated to the ASPCA®. I hope everyone who reads For Animal Lovers enjoys it. I like to think it is affordable entertainment for all ages. Recently, I found out mom's were reading the stories to their children. Since I don't have kids, I hadn't even thought of that. When I received an email from an 8-year-old fan saying how much he loved "Abduction at Sea," and that it was his favorite story, it put a smile on my face. It made me think: what could be cooler than that? Find me on the web at www.kimcano.com

Rosen was born in Cornwall and grew up on Restronguet Creek. She studied Experimental Psychology at St Catherine's College, Oxford, before moving back to the West Country. She now lives on the south coast of Devon with two imaginary cats, fantasising about getting a real one. In 2011 Rosen was an aspiring author. Writing was a hobby. The following January sales of her books on Kindle took off, and by July she had sold 20,000 copies and her total download count exceeded 150,000. She now has two books in print: Pompomberry House and a short story collection called Seesaw. Rosen writes in a variety of genres with a strong leaning towards comedy. She has also dabbled with psychological fiction and mystery writing. She loves wild swimming, mountain biking, interesting boots, quiffs, 'sampling' chocolate and cooking tasty treats. V.R. Christensen is the author of several works, the first, Of Moths & Butterflies was published in October of 2011 by Captive Press Publishing. Her next work, Cry of the Peacock is scheduled for publication in the autumn of 2012. Her books, character-driven and emotionally intense, atmospheric and ultimately prosaic are fashioned after the classical school of literature, dealing with themes that remain timeless; the many and varied aspects of love, the complicated nature of intersexual relationships, the double standards in morality, the rise and fall of civilized societies, and at the heart of it, what it means to be human. She has spent two decades immersing herself in Victorian literature, in art and architecture and in history and has come to the conclusion that, while many things have changed beyond recognition in the last hundred and fifty years, people, truly, change very little. Our dreams, our struggles, our passions are still very much the same.

  18. Rojuun by John H. Carroll - 2012-09-20 15:35:39-04
John H. Carroll was the youngest of seven children and was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1970 where he was kept in a dresser drawer with the clean socks. Luckily, he wasn't kept with the dirty socks or else he might have grown up to become slightly warped. As a child, John spent most of his time wandering through the Mojave Desert in an attempt to avoid people. He would stare at the sky, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. One of his favorite memories is watching his dad build the fuselage of Evel Kneivel's skycycle in their garage. One of his least favorite moments was watching that skycycle fall into the Snake River. (Not his dad's fault and he has documentation to prove it, so nyah) As a teenager, John spent most of his time driving wherever he could in an attempt to avoid people. He would stare at the road, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. He was the captain of the chess team, lettered in golf and band while in high school, and wasn't beaten up anywhere near as much as one might imagine. As an adult, John spends most of his time staring at a computer screen in an attempt to avoid people. He stares at the monitor for hours, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. He has been married to his wonderful wife for fifteen years and they have three obnoxio . . . wonderful children who always behave . . . when they're asleep. Emo bunny minions surround John at most times. He is their imaginary friend and they look to him for guidance. At one point, they took over the world. No one noticed because they left everything exactly as it was. They gave the world back after a week because it was depressing. The Willden Trilogy is his first endeavor into the field of writing. Other series and standalone works will be forthcoming. In addition, John has written a number of short stories he publishes for free because he likes you so much. (And it's good marketing. Shh) He writes in the evenings and weekends whenever possible. Regrettably, the family mentioned in the previous paragraph desires food and shelter, requiring the author to possess a full time job until his writing makes him rich.
