After an exhilarating, collaborative writing project, Lori L. Otto had an idea for an original novel. The characters and their rich stories would keep her awake at night, and even with barely any sleep, she felt more alert and alive than she had in years. Her days off were spent in cafés, sandwich shops and bookstores, feverishly trying to get all of the details out of her head and onto paper.
- The Story of THE RAG! - 2012-09-15 14:24:30-04
After covering hard news for 22 years while publishing a weekly newspaper, Rossignol sold the newspaper in 2010 and has begun devoting full time to writing. The story of the St. Mary's Today newspaper is now available in Kindle and paperback at Amazon: The Story of THE RAG! The book includes nearly 200 editorial cartoons that appeared over the years. Learn the story of the newspaper that its readers loved and the politicans and Good Old Boys hated. Even the mob tried to put the paper out of business, but the St. Mary's Today was dedicated to the biggest man (or gal) in town - the one with .75 in his pocket and a desire to learn what was going on in Southern Maryland. There are now two new books with scores of great short stories from THE CHESAPEAKE, a fun fishing and nonsense monthly publication which covers all manner of recreation, travel, fishing and hunting in and around the Chesapeake Bay and elsewhere in one endeavor produced with Cap'n Larry Jarboe. The Chesapeake: Scales & Tales and The Chesapeake: Legends, Yarns & Barnacles. Rossignol also publishes the DWIHitParade.com. New in 2012 are: Titanic 1912: a look at the original news stories of the Titanic in the days and weeks after the disaster. Rossignol's book has been a big hit in the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's sinking. As a new generation of readers thirst for more to learn about the great ship sinking in the icy cold water of the North Atlantic, a trip back to the very first news stories has been just the ticket. Rossignol has been appearing at the world's largest Titanic Museums in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Branson, Missouri to sign books and talk bout the Titanic. Rossignol's newest project in 2012 has been the creation of a great new book Titanic & Lusitania: The Survivor Stories, with his fellow author and friend, Bruce M. Caplan. Caplan and Rossignol have brought to life the Logan Marshall classics about the Titanic, the Lusitania and the early days of WWI. This book is also available in Kindle and paperback at Amazon. Also new in 2012 are Chesapeake 1850 and Panama 1914. Chesapeake 1850 is the first in a new series of historicial fiction that tells the story of a family on the Chesapeake Bay from 1850 to 1950. Panama 1914 is back to the front pages and news reports of the days of when America took over the Panama Canal project which had stalled in the swamps of Panama. The early history of the times is explored and great illustrations and editorial cartoons as well as historical photos are included. Learn what happened in Panama when relatives failed to pay the grave rent in a cemetery! How did Balboa ship off from Spain in order to meet his destiny in the new world? Did millions of tax dollars line the pockets of individuals involved in the deal when the United States paid $40,000,000 for the canal property? Visiting with folks on cruise ships around the world, Rossignol has also been giving talks about maritime history, especially the Titanic, the Bermuda Triangle, the history of Caribbean pirates and the Panama Canal and traveling to Europe, the South Pacific and the Caribbean. Rossignol has also appeared in a new mystery production for the Discovery Channel of a brutal murder that he covered in his newspaper 19 years ago which will air in the fall of 2012 in the series Cold Blood 5.
- Crossroads - 2012-09-15 14:24:57-04
Although he is the author of four critically acclaimed supernatural/suspense thrillers, Chandler McGrew, lives in quiet seclusion in the mountains of Maine. He writes ten to twelve hours a day, fueled by liberal doses of coffee and Pepsi, with only an occasional dollop of single malt scotch to take the edge off. Born in Texas he lived for almost a decade in Alaska where his first novel, Cold Heart, is set. I Love a Mystery called the book a 'tense and satisfying read.' While the Contra Costa Times said it was 'The best opening 10 pages I've read this year...reads like a good martini tastes: icy cold, with flecks of terror where the ice chips should be.' Not a bad start for a man who didn't begin to write professionally until he was in his forties. Chandler followed Cold Heart with Night Terror, a psychological thriller about a woman who has lost her only son and believes she may be losing her mind as well. Like all his novels the book is peopled by characters who might be your next door neighbor. Or they might be escapees from a boobie hatch. The Denver Post said the novel '...plays on the primal fears that cause most adults to lose sleep.' That's an adequate description of all of Chandler's work. The Darkening, his third book, is a dark, apocalyptic thriller in which two very different individuals must not only find each other but themselves as well before discovering the path that will lead them to salvation. Publisher's Weekly, the industry standard, said of the book that it was an "addictive...one part Rapture drama, one part Lovecraftian horror story, one part blood-soaked chase... a thrilling one-sit read." Which brings us to In Shadows, McGrew's latest which the Chicago Tribune called "...a born-to-be-a-TV-series story." McGrew has the uncanny knack for touching readers and frightening the bejeesus out of them at the same time.

- Armageddon Daze (Act 1) by Christopher Brock - 2012-09-15 14:26:37-04
I was born in 1970 in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah at age nine. I started reading almost before I could walk, anything I could get my hands on: newspapers, encyclopedias... And I have been interested in writing since I was seven years old and wrote my first self-illustrated book (maybe 8 pages) on the archaeopteryx for school. No joke. My favorite subject matters have always been science fiction and fantasy, but since discovering HP Lovecraft in my teens my passion has been horror. Three years of creative writing in high school generally stunted my growth as a writer and taught me a lot of bad habits. But now that I'm in my forties, I've decided to venture forth into the world of ebooks. It's a grand time for self-publishing. Armageddon Daze is my first novel for Kindle, and I have at least two more books for the series in mind to follow.

- Zombie Candy (Annie Ogden Mystery 2) by Frederick Lee Brooke - 2012-09-15 14:28:26-04
I write books because I love playing with language, on the one hand, and creating characters and seeing what crazy things they will do if you set them free. I've spent more than 20 years living in different European countries such as France, Germany and Switzerland. I speak French, German and Italian, and I've been learning Turkish for the last five years just for fun. My books are mysteries, for lack of a better word. Doing Max Vinyl is about a computer recycling con man, while Zombie Candy is about a serial adulterer who happens to love zombie movies. In both books, Annie Ogden, a recently returned Iraq War vet who is having trouble adjusting to civilian life, gets personally involved in taking down these world-class jerks. I like a book with a good dose of humor, and the humor can come from the absurd situations people find themselves in. The world we live in is an absurd place, and you can either laugh or cry about it. When I'm not writing I'm usually reading. I like to write book reviews. Of course I love it when people review my books, too. I like to cook and sometimes post recipes on my blog. Zombie Candy contains most of the recipes in the book in an annex at the end. I also like to hike and travel and learn about other cultures.
