While working on a ship in Alaska, I picked up an action novel and enjoyed it, but as a lumberjack and deckhand I never imagined I’d write anything myself. Only later, while living in Spain, I picked up some Hemingway books and was I inspired to write a story. I wrote my first action novel while living in South Korea.

Barry Lehman is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor with nearly thirty years’ experience. He has worked as a school-based chemical health worker with students in middle and high school and in outpatient settings in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He was involved in developing the extended aftercare program and the outlining of the educational curriculum used in a residential program.

As an author and speaker, he has been a regular presenter at the annual conference of the Minnesota Association of Resources for Recovery and Chemical Health and has served on the organization’s ethics committee for many years. He has also led continuing education sessions at a number of Minnesota treatment centers. His own journey of recovery began in October 1988. His latest book, Mastering Recovery, is based on his years of experience both as a counselor and a person in recovery.

He has a Doctor of Ministry degree in counseling from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, a Master of Divinity from Moravian Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts from Lehigh University. He is a retired pastor, having served Moravian congregations in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. He has two previously published books.
