DeBorrah K. Ogans was born in San Francisco, California. She is a Christian Pastoral Counselor, Elder/Minister, and Author. DeBorrah is certified through the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling in Creation Therapy, and has a Master’s Degree in Biblical Clinical Counseling.

She resides in Northern California. Married to her high school sweetheart, Elder Randall Ogans Sr., for over 49 years,together they have 5 children, and 21 grandchildren. DeBorrah has written extensively. She has ministered to many and embraces Christianity as a daily lifestyle. Len Handeland has always enjoyed writing and drawn to being creative—as far back as he can remember. Back in middle school, when he and his classmates were assigned a book report, and the others groaned, Len cheered—not only being given an exciting novel to read but also to compose the essay assignment as well. Everything had to be perfect, the spelling, grammar, and accuracy regarding the subject matter. Later on—in his late teens, Len attended FIT in Manhattan studying fashion illustration; years later, he decided to pursue a career in the hair industry using his artistic training and creativity to excel in hair. He decided to pursue writing after reading many of Anne Rice’s work (having read all of her Vampire chronicle books) and after attending the San Francisco International writers’ conference—decided it was time for him to write a Vampire story of his own; in his words, given Len’s affinity for horror and this particular genre. I wrote “The Darkest Gift” as I felt no other author had written an enthralling vampire romance novel since Anne Rice, which was a breakthrough in featuring two vampires of the same gender as a couple. Being a lifelong fan of vampires starting when I was a small child and into my adult years, I wanted to write a compelling and enthralling book where the characters are complicated (both humans and vampires) and that the same-sex couples are far less ambiguous about their sexual orientation than in vampire books of the last century. Where the emphasis is on love, whether human and vampire or two vampires (of the same gender), it was vital for me to avoid anything graphically sexual, but instead, the focus is on the sensual aspect of two men together. Also noteworthy was addressing stereotypes regarding vampires and some of the gay men in my book. That all vampires are evil and unfeeling creatures, that all gay men are effeminate, couldn’t be further from the truth. I utilized the classic tale of good versus evil (in this case, vampire against vampire) and how one of the human characters, Jack, despite his struggles with sexual orientation, finally learns to accept and embrace who he truly is. The message I’m trying to deliver is: do what is right and be true to yourself. In my novel, that applies not only to humans but vampires alike.
The locations in my book are places I have an affinity for, having spent time in each over the years. They are rich in history and culture, and each has an exquisite beauty of its own. The settings include Paris, Haiti, and New Orleans, which all share a French connection.

I don't have what most people would consider an interesting life. I have an intelligent, gorgeous daughter, 3 fabulous grandchildren and fantastic friends. I've had some very interesting jobs like cooking chicken feathers and climbing telephone poles but I have spent most of my life working and taking care of my family.

I started writing in 6th grade encouraged when my teacher submitted my short story assignment to a magazine. Unfortunately at that time, years and years and years ago, you couldn't be published unless you were 18.

My freshman year of high school I wrote most of my English class' short story assignments. Almost everyone got an A except me because I didn't get mine finished. However I got a B and made almost $100 so I was happy. My senior year I worked for a tiny weekly newspaper.

I worked for awhile as an editor, copywriter and every other needed position for Prevue movie magazine (not as exciting as it sounds).

There was a long time when I didn't write at all (made for a very grouchy mama, just ask my daughter) and then along came the internet (yes youngsters there was a time when the internet didn't exist. We used things called typewriters or pen and paper) and an angel named Glenda who introduced me to fan fiction and re-ignited my love of writing and fanned the flames of my imagination. I've written (or am in the process of writing or editing) several books but with my family and friends encouragement Truly Blessed is the first I've published. It's taken years to work up the courage to put my work out there (except for my Stargate SG1 and M7 fanfic) but I can't preach to my grandkids to follow their dreams if I don't.
