As a child, I was mesmerized by storytellers, and my mother always made sure I had a supply of books close at hand while I was growing up. Sitting on her lap and listening to her read to me is one of my earliest memories. I remember drawing pictures and then making up stories to go with them, and as I got older, my stories became longer and more fanciful. At age ten, I began to write them down, and when I was twelve, I wrote my first “book,” all handwritten. During rainy days in gym class, I wrote when we all had to stay in the locker room and sit on benches. I had a small cult following of friends who waited for me to finish each page which I would then pass down the row. When I got a typewriter for my thirteenth birthday, I typed up my “masterpiece” and put it in a 3-ring binder, then hid it away. The story was actually quite silly. Having a typewriter, however, made it possible for me to write even more, which I did on almost a daily basis.
But, as happens to many young, aspiring writers, reality grabbed me, and when I graduated from high school and headed to college then into the workforce, the dream of becoming an author washed away. It wasn’t until I turned 62 and experienced the 3rd job layoff that I decided to try and make my writing dream come true.
Writing has since become an addiction to me, and I’m finding that ideas for numerous scenarios and characters keep flooding my brain, with the characters screaming, “Write about me! Write about me!”
And, that’s what I intend to do.

Solace From Shadows
About Solace From Shadows
Solace From Shadows, the first supernatural romance novel in the completed Heart and Soul series, is a tribute to lost souls who stumble from the shadows of who they were, and into the light of who they were meant to be…
What happens when every moment, tucked within five brief days, becomes a memory? Each touch, and every whisper becomes a soul’s sustenance to live, to hold on, when all seems lost? What if these few days were all that remained in the hourglass of a life lived? A day of rescue. A day of discovery. A day of togetherness. Another of resolution. On the last day…is it one of hope or tragedy? Life or resurrection…or both?
After a tragic wreck claims Elaine Pearson’s family, she embarks on a solo hiking trek into the Blue Ridge Mountains. She only wants to escape her blighted past and the pain of her broken heart. But through a chance encounter with a protective, mysterious stranger, she is thrust into a world where dark creatures that haunted her childhood nightmares are now stalking her from the shadows…and trailing her up a mountain.
During a summer sabbatical, Duke University geneticist, Dr. Ian Kearney, finds Elaine stumbling along the Bartram Trail alone. His slumbering hybrid vampire/lycan soul slowly begins to awaken, and he is unable to resist or deny the persistent soul stirrings that leave him craving a mate. His forgotten human self, however, is also awakening…and the man within wants everything he knows he shouldn’t–her.
Solace From Shadows introduces Elaine, a young widow trying to make amends with her painful past; and Ian, a unique hybrid embodying both vampire and lycan DNA who is searching for more than the hollow existence he’s created among humans. Their struggle to find peace, while coping with a resurrecting past, becomes a test of determination and fortitude when letting go is impossible.

She also recognizes for story flow, readers are encouraged to read the series in order: Solace from Shadows, Light and Shadows, Dark Night of the Soul, and Light Over Dark Water. You will be amazed at how they traversed the historical barbwire of late medieval times, unwillingly entangled in wars with greater powers and religious reformation.
Then, just when you think Prussia will be swept away by violent forces out of its control, you will see how stubborn the Prussians were as they overcome various hurdles. You will learn of their struggles against the Habsburgs and Austria, France and Napoleon, and many other adversaries in the countless wars in which the Prussians found themselves, wars which weren’t always won by them.
Along the way, you will be introduced with how the Prussian state, society, and culture changed over time, transforming from a medieval feudal country into a modern industrial empire. This book will also show how a local Prussian identity, coming from a place of humility, evolved and grew into a proud nation and a bulwark of German identity and nation.
Finally, this guide will show you the exciting tale of how Prussia gathered enough strength to achieve the unification of German lands into a single nation-state through a series of wars and bold politics and machinations. True Experiences with a Sorceress of the ‘Four Portals’ by M.G. Hawking
About True Experiences with a Sorceress of the ‘Four Portals’ by M.G. Hawking
Free on Amazon August 1st thru August 3rd. This volume details the experiences explorer M.G. Hawking and his companions had in a remote region of the Himalayas with the exceptional Mani Choejor, including accounts of her demonstrations of psychokinetic powers and in-depth descriptions of the esoteric knowledge that enabled her to attain such remarkable abilities.
Five-Star reviews: “Advanced Teachings but Suitable for Beginners. Hawking relays a series of teachings from Mani, a B’on sorceress. Mani is unbelievably powerful at manifesting the physical reality she wants to experience, and the awe most Western readers would experience from such capabilities really make her words a treat, especially the meditation/visualization exercises, advice for beginners, and framework explanations concerning how she accomplishes many of the more advanced aspects of her power. Highly recommended.” – “Amazing and inspiring. I love this book! It’s so well written and so inspiring. It has helped me tremendously.” – “Truly an inspiration. A must read for those who yearn to break free and open their minds to the infinite possibilities of life.” – “I love all of MG Hawking books, such wisdom and the visualizations that he includes are amazing if used daily.”
To merely say that Mani is an extraordinary individual would be to gravely understate the case. Born in a small village in Tibet, she was raised and mentored in a monastery by an Abbot known to be a true master of great power, one of perhaps two remaining instructors of the ancient esoteric arts of the ‘Four Portals’ teachings.
A group of highly esoteric teachings setting forth the true nature of physical reality and techniques of powerful elemental magic, or sorcery, the ‘Four Portals’ are of extreme antiquity. The first extant traces of the teachings appear as part of the lore of the pre-Tibetan Zhang Zhung culture that arose on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau some 4000 years ago, but are believed to have originated far earlier. Being an exceedingly restricted body of knowledge, said to convey enormous powers, the teachings disappear from the historical record for some 2600 years, not to reemerge until the 7th century AD in the arcane scriptures of the ancient pre-Buddhist B’on religion, as found in the Himalayan highlands of Tibet.
According to the ancient Zhang Zhung and B’on traditions, the teachings of the ‘Four Portals’ were formulated in 16,000 BC by the earliest known Buddha, Tonpa Shenrab Miwoche. Like Siddhārtha Gautama, our most recent historical Buddha, Shenrab renounced his life as a prince to become a monk, achieved enlightenment, and taught others how to attain the most elevated wisdom. The rare esoteric teachings of the ‘Four Portals’ contain enormous amounts of elemental sorcery, in keeping with their view of the cosmos as a psycho-physical unity, able to be manipulated in heightened states of awareness through clandestine techniques and practices.
These deeply esoteric teachings begin with a profound premise: “The Universe is but a mirage which exists in the mind, springs from it, is controlled by it, and sinks into it.” To understand this premise in a contemporary context, we may consider the following remarks from the legendary physicist Max Planck, Nobel Prize winner, originator of Quantum Mechanics, and close associate of Albert Einstein: “As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear-headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of the existence of consciousness. The mind is the matrix of all matter. I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness.”
Transcribed directly from the archived field notes and journals of explorer M.G. Hawking’s five years in Nepal and Tibet, this book contains comprehensive narratives of Hawking’s experiences and conversations with a true sorceress, providing first-hand accounts of her psychokinetic and telekinetic powers, along with descriptions of her lengthy apprenticeship and the teachings that allowed her to acquire such extraordinary abilities.
2021 Edition, 20 Chapters, 32 Subsections, e-reader edition page count 422 (estimated, actual count varies depending on the reading device used).
