My name is Colleen K. Buchanan, but I go by Lee. I recently published my Memoir “Don’t Forget To Remember…” detailing my experiences of being a black baby adopted into an all-white family and all-white environment, as well as other traumatic events throughout my life.

Recently, Dr. Bruce Perry, MD, PhD, and Oprah Winfrey published their book “What Happened to You? Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, And Healing”.

It wasn’t until I was 48 years old that I found the courage and strength to stop living a life of lies and unhappiness. I decided to understand why I didn’t love myself, but more importantly, why I’d never been shown unconditional love. I went on an incredible journey of self-discovery and realized I am perfect, whole and complete. I am enough.

Mark Beckner is known in Colorado from his time with the Boulder Police Department from 1978 to 2014. He rose through the ranks to become Boulder’s Police Chief in 1998 and remained in that position until his retirement in 2014.
