I’m a writer, a teacher and an art photographer and a love of images inspires my writing. I think in pictures! I’d always wanted to write, even as a child, but never quite got round to it until my grandmother left me a tiny suitcase, tied up with a ribbon and full of letters written by two soldiers fighting in the First World War. I was intrigued by the way their words concealed as much as they revealed. It started me writing and I’ve written three novels now. The Unravelling, with its dark and mysterious undercurrent, is my favourite.
