About The Old Gods of Desolation by A. L. Plumb

Before Earth, there was Desolation, a dark and barren world filled with gods and monsters of which even your darkest nightmares couldn’t fathom. The gods were once a peaceful race, and with their control of almost every planet in this solar system, they were perhaps one of the most powerful forces to ever exist. That was until the affects of living in such vastly different environments changed their physiology and granted them false senses of superiority, enticing a war that whittled this once proud race down to a handful. The last survivors fled to Desolation, where they lived happily for many generations. But when violence started to break out again, they knew their race was doomed to fail. They decided to create and nurture a new race to carry on their legacy in a more peaceful way. That race was humanity. While many accepted and cherished this new race, there were many who hated the concept of being replaced by such primitive beasts. They sought to destroy humanity and all who would dare to protect it. The only problem was that those who protected the infant race were far too powerful to defeat. The renegade gods decided that they too would create their own race to surpass all others. They create the Aangshin, a demon/god hybrid with more potential than anything ever known. The only problem is that he was created far too quickly and turned out to be both overly kind and inept at tapping into the powers he held deep within. If they want him to be their saviour, the renegade gods must nurture his rage and hone his skills until he is ready for what would be the most important battle in the history of the gods. But above all, they would have to make sure the enemies didn’t find a way to redirect this anger back at its creators. Children can be so easily swayed after all…

My introduction to writing was rather sudden and unexpected. I always enjoyed writing stories when I had to at school, yet I never considered going down the writing path until I had a nightmare during university that made me thing “some of things I dream could probably make good horror films”. Not being adept at film making, I tried writing instead and it just felt right. I started by making some short stories out of dreams that I could remember and altered them to fit into one big story that ended up being around 40k words. The Old Gods of Desolation was in essence an experiment to see if I could write a full-length story, and to see if people would like it. I got the full-length story out (78k words), so now I’m trying to get opinions to see if it is worth me carrying on with this line of work.

He feels something is off despite the warm welcome they give him.

Skeptical as always, this town isn’t Wolfe’s definition of Paradise. His Lurleen and JoJo aren’t there. He digs into the dark shadows where only he can see the truth.

Book 4:

Wolfe’s trials get harder. A broken leg. A heavy snowfall. Alone in the mountains.

The Nightwalker keeps his perspective and his focus. His family is waiting for him. At least the answer of whether they are alive or dead is out there, a long ways away.

Wolfe will always have his honor and willingness to help. And that’s how he ended up with the dog, and how he ends up with a young girl, too.

Together they continue his journey. As long as it takes, keep putting one foot in front of the other. Through the Red Zone which isn’t so toxic anymore to the Clear Area which is, but in a different way.

Book 5:

Wolfe can no longer abide by the Federal Command.

With a change of attitude and reliance on his strengths, he takes the fight to them. He owns the night. He is stronger and faster than the soldiers. He has a sense of honor, the likes of which they’ll never know.

He wants to continue home so he can find out once and for all Lurleen’s and JoJo’s fate. When he meets the good people of Ashland, he knows that he has to help them. It’ll be a delay, but it’s something he must do.

The Nightwalker finally takes the fight to FedCom only to find his enemies are there, waiting.

Book 6:

The gathering of souls, the Sacred Survivors.

Little Rock Arkansas is the home to those who made it through, led by a mystic, a guru, a charismatic soul.

Jim Wolfe only wants to pass, but the Survivors want more than he is willing to give.

Which sets up the showdown between the Nightwalker and the followers of the one.

Book 7:

So close. Did his family survive or not? Only five hundred miles across the Gulf and he would have his answer.

Jim and Jennifer have to decide whether to settle in to recover or continue on. The decision is made harder when life gives them lemonade.

Frank wrote his first story–it was a western–when he was five. It was really awful, as might be expected, but his mother kept that typed and spell-checked short story tucked away until the day she died.

Later, Frank became a newspaper reporter, thinking that books are written by authors which he most assuredly was not. He kept trying to write though, and eventually did it wrong enough to learn how to get it right. That first sale, a young adult novel published by Independence Press, was more than thirty years and a good many books ago.

As a journalist, the Colorado Press Association awarded Frank their highest award, the Sweepstakes Award, for the best news story of 1980, and the Western Writers of America has twice named Frank recipient of their prestigious Spur Award. Frank passed away at age 73 in December 2015.

Served during two decades in the infantry and then became a high school teacher in some of the toughest schools in Ohio. Spent more time in the jungle than I should have and then spent more time in the Blackboard Jungle.

I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and my Dad was a general foreman at a Fisher body plant. He would come home at midnight smelling like the grease which layered the factory floor and cook us up some fried bologna sandwiches. I would sit next to him on the floor and watch the one o’clock show. He would introduce me to Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, Richard Widmark, Alan Ladd, and of course Charlie Chan, Sam Spade, Michael Shayne and Micky Spillane. I grew to love these guys and the black and white noir films.

I decided to write novels on this time period and pay homage to the worlds greatest generation. My dad fought through WWll as a Marine and there is not a day that I don’t miss him.

When I do miss him or get depressed I run to the TV and watch one of these films. My heartbeat goes down and I smile.

My aim is for you to read my books and when you are through…get a big smile on your face!

My hobbies are writing, hiking, traveling, working with my wonderful wife in out garden and listening to Cleveland Indians baseball. LOL, and playing with our two Border Collies, Miss Mollie and Beauregard Pierre Townsend Walker.
