My love for historical fiction began as a teenager when I read Les Misérables. The morality, the settings, the richness of the characters and their struggles enthralled me. I found myself hooked on stories about Paris and read the classics by Jules Verne, George Sands, Émile Zola, Colette and many other fabulous authors. I knew one day I would write historical fiction about the interesting characters I would come to know.
I was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City. A colorful neighborhood teeming with life. Where wash hung on clotheslines outside the overcrowded tenements and vendors hawked their wares as they pushed carts carrying everything from fruits and vegetables to clothes and shoes (new and used).
The people in my neighborhood were of all nationalities and religions, including Orthodox Jews, Italians, Russians, Slovaks, African Americans and Puerto Ricans. Many popular performers had grown up in the area, including the Marx Brothers, Al Jolson, George and Ira Gershwin, and Irving Berlin. These famous entertainers had moved on long before I was born. However, their spirit was alive in the people who remained. When my mother sent me on errands, the shop owners often entertained me. The shoemaker was a comedian, the tailor’s wife sang opera, our landlord once did a tap dance when my father paid the rent, and my grandfather was an amazing storyteller. These were only some of the great personalities I enjoyed in my youth. These people had never been on a stage but would probably have become famous if they had the opportunity and the good fortune.
Later, drawn by inexpensive housing and cheap food, The Lower East Side became “hip” as the Beat poets and radical artists infused the neighborhood that had come to be known as The East Village.
This early introduction of life’s variety set my imagination on fire. I knew one day I would write stories about the personalities I had been so affected by. But it didn’t happen right away.
After graduating magna cum laude from Mercy College, I worked for six years as a copywriter at an advertising agency in Los Angeles. It was there that I realized how to use powerful words to affect people’s emotions.
When it was time to move on, my love of history and a fascination for colors and textures would help me decide that becoming an Interior Designer would be the perfect fit. I studied Interior Design at UCLA and then became a self-employed Interior Designer. Once again, I realized how important it was to use stirring descriptions to help my clients realize how their empty spaces could be transformed into their dream look.
Now that I am retired, I have the opportunity to fulfill my dream as an author of historical fiction novels. My novel, “Dance of the Restless Soul,” is the first of four novels in the “Dance” series. I have recently published book two, “Dance with the Devil.” But I have so many stories that I would love to share with you in my future novels.

Turns out, Megan might just be The Chosen One. Daphne dreads the end of the week but this time, not just one person will die.

The height of the Earth Empire – where War Bricks flatten alien civilisations.
Yorkshire 1985 – where a child’s mind is patched together with trauma.
Ancient Greece – where Socrates discovers a carnal method of time-travel.
Mars 2348 – where crime and terror haunt the Martian Habitation Domes.
The Mistake’s skull – where Muscle Society achieves self-destruction.

All these places (and many more!) reside within the tangled text of Hole Punch.

Author Bio:
Garth Simmons was born in 1981 in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, UK. He’s a visual artist who’s made paintings, installations, animations and pattern designs. He has had exhibits everywhere from Scarborough to Los Angeles. His pattern designs were in the Golden Globes and Fashion Times and he likes to remind people of this. Writing has always been a feature of his artwork. He would write directly onto his artwork, or by collaging “stream of consciousness” notes.
In 2015, whilst working in a data entry position for Siemens, he began writing short stories as Facebook posts. At first they were daydreams of outrageous acts he could commit whilst at work (if he were professionally or ethically allowed). Later they were stories in other settings. Some dark memoirs of times in various school settings and learning programmes (for those who are “not on the right level”).
These stories resonated with his social media followers. He was encouraged to put them into a collection and seek out publication. While putting these stories into a contextual order he realised they formed a larger narrative. A tapestry of recurring themes, settings and characters. They made up a larger biographical webwork and subjective statement on the world. A hole punched through this fabric, hence the title Hole Punch.
Since completing Hole Punch, he has been working on three long-form novels. Also he has an actual short story collection comprised of several 10’000 word stories. He also does a podcast called Slanderhour and has an EP in the works. His philosophy is that “the more things you make, the more you enjoy your own company”.
Apart from creativity, he loves cats, mochas, wearing blazers, arthouse films and many ropey science fiction series.

Musings of the Heart by Aaron E. Peters
About Musings of the Heart by Aaron E. Peters
God is constantly speaking to each and every individual born into this world; wanting us to grasp His truth which will bring us life abundant.
He reveals His truth to us in different ways. It can be through His Creation which testifies to who He is. It can be through the situations, sights, and people He brings along our path. But the most important way by which He reveals His truth to us is through His Word that has been made manifest in Christ.
To know God is to know His Word. This book is a collection of observations through which God has made His truths known to the author.
The prayer behind them is that they will be reminders, as much as they are for the author himself, to always listen for God; both as He speaks to us through His Word and in every area of our lives.

Under the Scarlet Tree
About Under the Scarlet Tree
When the dead become the undead, the alive will do whatever is necessary to survive.
Mya Whitten-Davis thought of the baby in her stomach as she shoved the knife into the base of her husband’s skull. It had to be done. An undead father didn’t fit into her idea of a perfect family. He would understand and if their neighbor had taken a chunk out of her, he would have done the same.
She had lost her parents at 18 years old and when her older sister decided the stress was too much, the job of raising her sister and brother fell to her. Caring for her siblings had always been her responsibility regardless of their age. She would stop at nothing to ensure the safety of her brother and sister.
While a scene from the latest zombie flick became reality, Mya and her brother, Logan, set off on a road trip to not only survive, but to get to their sister, Lilianna, before she became undead. Sibling loyalty has no bounds.
Mya finds her journey filled with unexpected turns, countless losses, new friends and a spark of romance.
Under the Scarlet Tree. A place of reflection to those lost to the undead. A place to build new memories.

How does a flabby 50 year old 2 pack a day smoker become a ripped “Adonis” who performed strength endurance feats undefeated still today? The answers here.

Well that was done starting in the mid 1980’s by Dr. Leonard Schwartz! You can still purchase his books on HeavyHands(tm) and they’re worth reading still today. If you didn’t know that, you’ll enjoy learning the secrets of Panaerobics and IsoTonoMetrics as discussed by his fans and students in the book Strength Endurance: Reflections on the Legacy of Dr. Leonard Schwartz – creator of “Heavy Hands”, “Panaerobics”, “Longstrength” and “IsoTonOMetrics”.

D.A. Lee is a Bangladeshi-born British author, artist and poet, best known for her novel 'Written' published in 2019. Raised in a small town in Lancashire, England, Lee describes the cultural challenges of growing up in a Bengali household whilst navigating a western world.
Lee's novel, whilst fictional, draws on many of her own experiences of growing up in a Muslim family and explores the underworld of cultural expectations, arranged marriages, honour, abuse and domestic violence that often limit women's choices.
Lee first started writing as a form of self-healing through the challenges of home life. The word 'Written' had become a poignant theme throughout the book, a word often expressed culturally to describe the notion of determinism and predestination adopted by some traditional Muslim families as a common explanation for events in life. Lee takes us on a journey through her character Eleanor, a young girl caught between a web of family secrets and lies where she comes into conflict with these values.
Today, Lee is an advocate for women's freedom of choice and encourages women to speak out and seek help if they feel they are in danger.
The Reticent Witch by J E Martin
About The Reticent Witch by J E Martin
This is the second book from the ‘When Darkness Calls’ series. Though it is a standalone story which can and perhaps should be read before book 1 ‘Sold Out Soul Doubt’.
This is the story of Catherine Antoinette Heely, ‘The Reticent Witch’. Cathy is the product of meticulous bloodline manipulation over many centuries; she is a hybrid witch of immense power; a power she does not want, a power that she feels to be a curse rather than a gift.
The story charts her life from birth to present day; told through her own eyes, it tells of her struggles and her anguish as she learns to manage her powers and to harness them for good. All of this as she comes of age. Her struggles intensified and against a backdrop of school bullies, a vindictive sister and a voice in her head she calls ‘The Darkness.’A voice which seeks to coerce her to inflict dreadful punishments on those who stand against her, as it attempts to win her over.
Cathy has a short temper and a propensity for exacting immediate and often irreversible punishments on those who seek to harm her physically or who hurt her emotionally; she must learn to control her anger and her wrath before they consume her.
As Cathy matures, physically, emotionally and sexually, she finds herself in numerous types of conflict, as she tries with all that she is, to use her powers for the good of others.
Cathy seeks only to love and to be loved, to live a simple life at one with nature. However, her trust issues, driven by the betrayal and the lies of others, are a constant barrier to her finding happiness.
Cathy finds herself questioning her own sanity as her life descends into chaos as the afflicted and the dead mount in her wake, will she find the solace she so desires?
Is Cathy a good person resisting evil, or is she an evil person trying against all the odds to be good? Will she win the day, or will she succumb to The Darkness?

John is in his early fifties. For over 20 years he has been a technical author, penning many guides, professional examinations, and training materials, he has now decided to switch his focus.
John has an interest in the supernatural, and the paranormal, having had many direct experiences over the years, which began when he was 18 when he experienced his first ghost sighting.
Over the years John has dabbled with Ouija boards, dowsing and crystals and spent 4 years living in a haunted house where he believes that he was attacked by an entity. Check out some of John’s stories on his blog. whendarknesscalls.blog
These specific experiences are to be documented in his upcoming book ‘A Very Ordinary Story & The Thoughts & Ramblings of a Madman.’
John’s first book Sold Out/Soul Doubt was in part inspired by his interest in the subject.
John also has a keen interest in the work of John Dee and Edward Kelley as well as King James I. using the KJV bible as a key reference source, along with the book Daemonologie also written by King James I.
John’s desire is to write easy to read, engaging, accessible and fast-paced books; containing a strong message about morality.
John does not believe in writing 50 words where 10 will suffice; he is personally put off by books where it seems the authors only concern is demonstrating they have a huge vocabulary (or depend heavily on a thesaurus) and who try to convey their own intellect rather than a palatable story.
Although John recognises that it is a bold statement to make, he believes that given his many years auditing against numerous international standards that his stories will not contain any plot holes.
He also avoids expecting the reader to make huge leaps of faith and attempts to set out rules that are adhered to throughout the story and indeed the series.
John’s books are best described as ‘cross-genre’ as they often have elements of romance, thriller, mystery, and supernatural and urban fantasy. Books two and three, also have a foot firmly in the horror/dark fiction camp.
John has recently experienced his own brush with ‘Darkness’ as his wife was diagnosed with cancer while he was writing Sold Out. She is now thankfully through surgery and treatment and is now in recovery.
John recognised that through these difficult months his own mental health had suffered immensely, and he has authored a book called ‘Cancer The Collateral Damage’ which is a short and hard-hitting account of those troubled times. The book is intended to help others not to fall into the same emotionally driven traps that he did. The book is currently free on ISSUU and currently $0.99 on kindle
Other than that John lives a simple life on the east coast of Lincolnshire.
