Cutthroat Cheerleader by Zachary Ryan

cutthroat cheerleaderAbout Featured Book: Cutthroat Cheerleader by Zachary Ryan

In the sleepy town of Townsend, Washington, there was an act so gruesome that no one would ever be the same. What heinous crime do I speak of? Skylar Torres thinking she could pull off a crop top with that pudgy body of hers. Oh, did you think I was going to say my murder. Well, I thought it was more sensational than anything else, but the real scandal was who killed me and why.

You should already know my name since it was on everyone’s lips once they found me with my throat ripped out. People thought they should have only feared me, but the Liberty Lion’s cheer squad knew one thing, hunt or be hunted.

No one’s hands were truly clean from all the dirt and blood on them. Be safe, watch your back and always remember, Happy Hunting.

The Everyday Occurrences of a Stranded God

About The Everyday Occurrences of a Stranded God

Meet Donnelius Conqaide, a cocky young man with a god complex. He hails from a familiar fantasy world, where magic and monsters are a part of the everyday. It is a grandiose world of grandiose mannerisms, where people unironically throw their capes back behind their backs and utter the phrase ‘You fool’. However, after a slight miscalculation, Conqaide suddenly finds himself thrust through space-time to the strange new world of Earth.

With the help of his newfound companion, a plain-looking girl by the name of Martha, Conqaide now struggles to learn the ways of this foreign planet. There’s a catch, though: he does not have the luxury of accessing his immense magical strength in its entirety. In his attempts to return home, he also navigates a low paying part-time job at a seedy restaurant, learns how to hold normal conversations with other people, and gets used to the taste of mac ’n’ cheese. All the while fending off the bloodthirsty bounty hunters that have come for his head, of course.

Stuck between impatient feelings of wanting to return to his home planet and the surprising comfort that comes with living a mundane human life, he is forced to strike a balance between the high-leveled magic caster Conqaide and the normal restaurant waiter known only as ‘Don’. As Earth begins to grow on him bit by bit, Conqaide must battle both the threatening enemies on the outside as well as his own confusing emotions on the inside. And, through his experiences, he might even learn a little bit more about what being a ‘god’ really means

What does a high-schooler do when he’s not playing video games? If that said high-schooler happens to be me, then he quite enjoys the hobby of making up imaginary scenarios in his head. I often find myself thinking up fantasy-superpower characters and settings in my imagination, where I can play out elaborate scenes that make me feel like I’m in the midst of an adrenaline-filled battle.

However, whether in the form of sketching or writing, pulling those kinds of ideas out of your head takes effort, especially so when you have to create a story fully contained within itself, without that story spilling out into a saga spanning across thousands of pages. But even so, I still wanted to share at least something with the world outside my mind. That’s why I created my debut novel: The Everyday Occurrences of a Stranded God, a magical fantasy novel.

Writing this book was a pretty huge endeavor that took a lot of time and effort, whether it was during vacations, breaks, or just between homework sessions. The whole project took just over a year and a half in total, so I doubt I’ll write a large series or anything in the foreseeable future.

If we’re just talking about another one or two, though… well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
